Perfect for tailgating, outdoor markets, and camping, the Rhino-Rack Sunseeker provides shade anywhere you take your vehicle. The awning mounts to your Rhino-Rack Pioneer platform or crossbars with top channels. It is supported by built-in telescoping poles that let a single person set it up and break it down in minutes. Made of ripstop, polycotton canvas that is resistant to UV rays, water, and mold, the awning rolls out from either side of your vehicle to provide you with 55 sq ft of shade. With different awning extensions (sold separately), you can expand the shade coverage or even create a windbreaker. The Sunseeker's 50+ UPF protection has earned it an official endorsement by Cancer Council Australia.
The Sunseeker easily unrolls from your vehicle's roof to provide 55 sq ft of shade. Just unzip the storage bag and roll out the canvas. Once the horizontal supports are exposed, extend them to the outer edges of the canvas and connect them to the front of the awning.
The telescoping support poles are built into the awning, which means you don't have to attach each pole separately during setup. Simply unclasp each pole from the built-in clips on the awning and drop them into position. After this, tighten the poles to the necessary height and use the spikes at the base of each pole to secure them to the ground. You can also adjust the poles to different heights to suit any type of terrain or assist with rainwater drainage.
The awning includes velcro tabs that wrap around the horizonal supports to bring the canvas to full tension.
Once the poles are set, find suitable locations near the awning to drive the included metal pegs into the ground. Then, to fully secure the Sunseeker, attach the hooked guy ropes to the frame and secure them to the ground with the pegs.
Strong and lightweight, the awning's ripstop, polycotton canvas is UV protected and water and mold resistant. The telescoping poles and frame are constructed of black anodized aluminum, so they won't rust or fade when exposed to the weather. When not in use, all the parts are stored inside the heavy-duty PVC storage cover.
The included mounting brackets attach to the channels on the awning's frame and mount to your Pioneer platform or crossbars with top channels. Simply slide the nuts into the channels and tighten them down.
The Sunseeker has optional extensions to provide more shade and improve your outdoor experience. These extensions easily install to the awning by zipping to the outer edge or attaching to a horizonal support pole. And just like the Sunseeker, they use telescoping poles, guy ropes, and pegs to secure to the ground. They are made of durable, ripstop polycotton canvas which is UV protected and water and mold resistant.
The Sunseeker can be expanded with the 43 sq ft extension (RR32112 - sold separately), which attaches to the horizontal support pole on either side of the awning. With this extension, you can increase your overhead coverage or make a windbreaker or sidewall.
Using the 48 sq ft extension (RR31101 - sold separately), which easily zips to the front edge of the awning, you can either increase your coverage or form a windbreaker.

I have the Rhino Rack Pioneer roof rack so it was very simple to install with the included hardware. I wan't sure by the description if it came with the zipper for the optional extension, so I purchased that as well. Turns out it came with the zipper so I have an extra one if needed in the future. It's not as simple to deploy as some of the new ones hitting the market with automatic scissoring extensions that can hold themselves up without poles or guy lines, but it's also not as expensive or bulky as those models. Everyone has to choose what works best for them. I like this awning and it holds up well. The added effort in setting it up and taking it down does not bother me. If I were to see any design flaw it would be the use of plastic for the hinges that let the poles fold out from the housing. Nothing broke yet, but those make me a bit nervous when I'm setting everything up.
We bought this awning because we did a trip across America in our 1999 Chevy Diesel Suburban last year and used a 10x10 awning off the side at night, while it worked and stayed together the whole trip- it was still a 1/2 hour set up time, and there was a gap between truck and tent at all times. (Not great for rain). We plan on going back to the areas we want to spend more time, and this will allow us to have our shade/rain protection and a 5 minute set up time! The following pictures are of what we used (old system) to the new Rhino Rack Sunseeker 55sq ft awning from etrailer.com set up in the driveway- new adventures are in the beautiful future!!! Thank you to the awesome staff at etrailer.com for the great price, ease of ordering and fast shipping!
This awning is exactly as described! Once attached to the crossbars, it takes less than 5min to set up. Top quality construction and materials. Totally worth every dollar.
I've only used the awning a couple of times, but it has been easy to deploy and appears well made. I think I'm going to be very happy with it.
sets up easy. should do the job.
Seems well made with reinforced corners and easy mounting hardware
Usually Rhino Rack quality. I have several products and they all are compatible to form a great camping / outdoors system
etrailer customer service has also been OUTSTANDING, absolutely no complaints and will purchase from etrailer again 100%
Great awning. Easy for one person setup. Only concern is that cover zipper has come loose at the front so it is a two handed job to unzip from the front. We ahve since added an end extension and a front extension.
I just completed the initial unboxing and install on my 2016 Ford Transit.
Quality seems good and all necessary hardware was included.
I will update further after first camping trip.
Great Product! Bought for a 2020 Toyota RAV4.
Install was very easy and quick....deployment was equally quick and easy as well. I will eventually add the extra zip on side panel. I like it and recommend this awning. Thanks
Quick & easy customer support. The way it should be. Pleasure working with etrailer
Love it - sun i intense Colorado this will help
Thx for prompt reliable shipping.
I installed this awning on my run away camper. It is the perfect size and easy to deploy.
Haven't attached awning yet but can't wait for the awesomeness! The box arrived as promised undamaged and ready to roll (literally!)
Looks great with our roof nest and was able to make it work with our Yakima set up. Didn't feel cheap or flimsy while setting up or taking down, seems like it will hold up nicely when tested in the elements. We're excited to test it out on our next camping trip!
