8' x 10'. Hideaway awning rolls out from the roof of your vehicle to give shelter from sun and rain. Mounts to Thule TracRac ladder rack or aftermarket roof rack (adapters sold separately). Hand crank lets you open and close awning.I've been on the hunt for this awning for over a year as its been out of stock. There are other options out there for the Sprinter van but this one was the best choice for my rack. You do need to purchase the mounting brackets separately, which come with different options for attaching to crossbars amd roof rails. I had some roof rail pucks laying around that I used to attach the brackets too.
This is very versatile and can be set up with the legs on the ground or with the Thule optional brackets(Purchase
separately) that attach the legs to the van..this is great if setting up on a hard surface or if you need to keep your dog on a lead and not get tangled up.the only tricky part for me is that my van is tall so once I get the awning out about 2 ft, I have to hop in the van and get the legs out- no biggie.this is very nicely made and easy to set up take down. Lots of optinal accessories as well
After a ton of research I chose the Hideaway roof rack mount awning for my Ford Transit van conversion project. The awning was easy to mount, (did so in about 1 hour with help of my wife). I mounted my roof rack mounting brackets upside down onto my home-made roof rack and it fits beautifully.
I'm extremely disappointed in customer service at Etrailer. I called regarding an issue with the telescoping hand crank getting stuck in the hole when pulling out or retracting the awning. I was told by Shawnee in customer service to call the manufacture, Thule.

Sometimes the fastest way to receive help is to contact the manufacturer. I, myself, reached out to Thule about what was happening with your awning and was advised to have you reach out to them as they would need pictures to help figure out what is going on with the handle.
works great. awesome customer service.
The install was a little tricky because I mounted the awning on a Roambuilt rack on my Sprinter and used NRS (River raft) u bolts around the RoamBuilt aluminum tubes. I needed to fabricate custom two part brackets for my set-up. The awning works great and looks good. It arrived with a bunch of aluminum metal shavings inside the plastic wrap on the awning inside the cardboard packaging, which had me worried that it was damaged or the awning would be ruined. I contacted etrailer about the shavings and they were just as surprised as I was, but offered to stand by as I tested and installed the awning. However, after a year of use, I’ve come across no problems.
Bought this knowing about the issue with mounting on Sprinter vans (prevents the crank arm from inserting vertically into the mounting slot), and used some rubber grommets on the end of the crank as a workaround, which has worked well. No complaints about the awning itself. It's been durable and opens/closes pretty easily.
Worth the wait. Works perfectly in our van conversion. I mounted to roof rack’s t slots using a modified generic mount brackets.
As advertised nice product very happy with install on my van rack. Product was well protected in its cardboard layers of boxing. As usual etrailer web site is user friendly and customer service during and after the shipment is spot on therefore I give a 5 star thumbs up.
Gotbabgreat deal on my awning. Took a while to get here but they stayed on top of it and its here..saved me some $$ too. Make sure you check if in stock
and what the expected lead time is if not in stock so you can plan accordingly. Happy with the overall product and service.

Still fantastic, ZERO issues.
When I received the awning it had been damaged in shipment despite the extra burly packaging. It had been severely bent in the middle but instead of returning it I decided to bend it back into shape with clamps etc. I was successful for the most part, there are only some ripples in the outer shell and one of the poles doesn’t extend freely. The installation was put on hold while I did body work on the van and had it painted. Then I got injured skiing and here we are a year after the purchase and have just installed it. Of course the mounting brackets don’t fit the shape of my ‘95 Toyota hiace so I shimmed them and they seem to work well now. (photos attached)
The awning deploys easily and I am surprised how far out it extends. The poles can mount to your vehicle with the supplied brackets or go straight to the ground vertically depending on your situation. I look forward to taking it out camping to enjoy the shade.
A year later and with lots of use this has been worth every penny! I have used it a lot and its as nice as new. So easy to setup or “hideaway”. Truly love it!
Replaced the Carefree awning on our 2019 Travato with this product. Like the sleeker look of the Thule awning when closed. 4 stars was only because of a missing arm cover (refer to photos). The legs locking mechanism is kinda squirrelly so hoping there’s a fix to tighten those.
I will just email this review to you here. So far the Thule roof mount awning appears to be a 5-Star product.
Just now have it installed. This awning is very nice. It mounts tight to the roof with a foam rubber gasket to eliminate any potential rattles while driving or rain leaking in under the awning when in use. It has a low profile to minimize wind resistance while driving. The adapter kit which secures the Awning to the roof of the ProMaster Van is excellent quality and attaches quickly and securely. However, placing the awning into the adapter brackets is not as simple as the directions indicate. Once you figure out the proper procedure required(which is a bit different than the directions) it all went together nicely.
Here are a couple of pictures. from this morning's installation. Not a very nice day here so the pics are marginal.
Hopefully you received the return awning ok.
Thanks for you good service,
Excellent customer service! Great job everyone at etrailer!
A well-built awning, fairly easy to install on our own. A great company to work with, thanks!
Installation was straightforward, awning works pretty well. The crank to deploy and stow is a little flimsy and it can be difficult to get it out out of the socket when the awning is fully stowed. Nothing too serious. Overall I am satisfied.
The awning arrived and was very well packaged. Installation was a little tricky until I realized that being on the roof of my van rather than on a ladder next to the van would make seating the connecting hooks far easier. I think the awning looks great and seems rock solid.
Best awning on the market! Bought it a year ago and went with it couple times. We took it for camping and drove couple thousand miles off the road, however it says its not for off-roading and it stood well, heard some rattling noise on the rugged terrain so I cranked and it there was no noise anymore. Also after setting the camp there was a strong wind and I was afraid it would break the awning as I did not use the pegs, awning arm was disconnected and there was no bend or break (thinking of getting sun shade and it will be more secure during the wind)! Don't know about the other brands but THULE is the way to go!

Its been a yr and this has held up well. I contemplated removing this for the winter, not knowing if a few snow incidents or salty roads woulld cause issue..but I still camp in my van in winter and having the awning is always a great option. * I always make sure to try to clean off the top of the awning after its been deployed due to tree debris, Inects, etc getting wrapped up when closing.
