Note: Tie-down chains must be chosen according to their safe working load limit (WLL). The weight of the secured cargo must not exceed the combined WLL of the chains being used. For example, if you are using chains with a WLL of 4,000 lbs each to tie down a load weighing 8,000 lbs, then you need at least 2 chains to safely secure that load. It is recommended that you always use chains in pairs.

Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at this 12 foot long Durabilt transport chain with the grab and the sling hooks. Has a 4,700 pound working load limit. Now, this transport chain is for binding, or tie-downs, towing and construction use. It'll let you secure heavy loads for transport, so it is ideal for vehicle hauling and towing.
It is a grade 70 transport chain, and they are not designed to be used for overhead lifting. And the grade 70 chain is heat-treated carbon steel, which is very durable. You can see it has a yellow zinc plating to resist corrosion. On this one end here, you notice it has the 5/16 size grab hook, which features a narrow straight sided throat which is designed to hold the link of a chain. Makes it easy to connect to an anchor point.
And on the other end of this chain, it has a heavy-duty sling hook with a keeper that'll create a nice, secure connection. This is manufactured to NACM, CCMTA, and Department of Transportation requirements. Few specs on this, we've mentioned the length on this chain is 12 feet. The links on it are 5/16 inch. Total weight on this chain is about 13.7 pounds.
And the safe working load limit is 4,700 pounds. Now, one note I do wanna mention about safe working load limit is tie-down chains like these must be chosen according to their safe working load limit. Meaning the weight of the secured cargo must not exceed the combined working load limit of the chains being used. So, just to give you an example, if you're using chains that have a working load limit of 4,000 pounds each and you're trying to tie down a load weighing 8,000 pounds, that's telling you you're gonna need two chains to safely secure that load. And they do always recommend that you use chains in pairs.
But that should do it for the review on this 12 foot long Durabilt transport chain with the grab and the sling hooks and a 4,700 pound working load limit..
