Hi everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at this Durabilt Ratchet Chain Binder set with removable handle. Now this ratchet chain binder set features a removable handle that you can use to secure heavy equipment on your trailer. This is perfect for agricultural and industrial tie down applications. So when you're done you just simply remove this handle to prevent tampering and theft. And you've got a low profile set of chain binders that are gonna be very easy to work around.
Some additional benefits of having a removable handle include a reduced chance of getting the barrel caught on chains or cargo, being easier to clean snow, mud and ice from the ratcheting gear and also easier to store, because you're not gonna have, continuously, a handle sticking out of the middle of the binder or the barrel here. So it's gonna be very easy to store. You just remove the handle and you can lay that right alongside whether you put this in a vehicle or in a toolbox of some kind. So that's another great benefit of having a removable handle. Now the ratcheting mechanism tightens down and maintains tension on your chains.
And as you can see, this handle will just go onto the gear and just use this lever on the back to close that and then it'll easily tighten or loosen this, these chain binders. So this is easy to use and safer alternative to lever binders and it gradually tensions and releases chains. And this adjustable pawl has two positions for quick take up or extension. The take up position tensions chains to secure cargo and the extension position allows you to safely release tension and remove the binder. The zinc plated forged steel grab hooks securely attach to chains and then the forged powder coated metal construction resist corrosion and the red color's highly visible.
However, I do wanna mention that you can, you might be able to even see the flakes on my table. That powder coat will come off very easily. Even after just using this a few times that powder coat just flakes right off. So I just wanted you to be aware of that. Probably would be a great ideas to store this, not in the elements, not outside, just to prevent rusting there.
Maybe in your vehicle or in a, like I said, in a toolbox, but just so you're aware that that powder coat does flake off quite easily. This does meet or exceed F M C S A 4 0- C H P- C V S A- W S T D A and DOT standards. And this is for chains with 3/8 inch to 1/2 thick links. And the safe working load of each binder is 15,000 pounds. The closed length, which I have all of these closed, the closed length from center of hook to center of hook is going to be 26 and a 1/2 inches. And then the open length, when these are fully extracted, is gonna be 34 and a 1/2 inches from center of hook to center of hook. So that's gonna give you a take up of eight inches. The handle length, let me pull out my tape measure here while we're looking down on these. The handle length from end to end, we are sitting right at 17 and a 1/4 inches and then the barrel length, which I'm gonna measure from here to here, of each binder is gonna be right at 10 inches. And then the screw diameter is an inch. It is important to note that you do not use these for overhead lifting. These load binders are designed to work as part of a complete tie down system. I have had 4 of the Durabuilt ratchet chain binders w/multiple hooks for about 1 year now and I will say that they are well worth the money. They give you so many options when securing different equipment, the chain and regular ratchet binders work but are just not as convenient as having the chain incorporated into the binder. I own and operate a demolition/excavation company and haul everything from compact track loaders to dozers and excavators, we are likely to haul a different piece of equipment each day so having the flexibility of attaching to different points that these binders provide has saved me time and effort over the past year. No more digging out your four 20 ft foot chains that hang on everything in the box when you can just grab these 4 binders and be done securing your load in no time.

Customer service and contact from etrailer was excellent. I wish their site had said product was out of stock, but they soon followed up and gave estimates for possible delivery. Because there was a delay, I stumbled across the same product on line and they were happy to price match, so many thanks for that, as I had already been waiting and was happy with the great support at etrailer.
The (4) binders arrived today in a box, with basically no packing and since they were heavy, the box was a little big and it was like they were in a rock tumbler. I like to take care of everything I own, yes they may eventually get scuffed from chains or something, but the nicely painted (thick coat of paint) surface is chipped in many areas and the bare handles feel rough and semi-sharp from the fresh jagged paint chips. I'll get over it, but after everything else being great, it ended in some disappointment on delivery day. I would have rated lower, if not for the great customer support. If I had no interaction with anyone, it would have likely been below average. So keep the great people and just pack a little better. Thanks for all the effort, until packing...
