Hi everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. And today, we're gonna take a look at this Durabilt ratchet chain binder with removable handle. This is gonna be for a 5/16 inch to 3/8 inch chain with a working load limit of 7,300 pounds. Now, this ratchet chain binder features a removable handle that you can use to secure heavy equipment on your trailer. This is gonna be perfect for agricultural and industrial tie-down applications.
And when you're done, you just simply remove this handle to help prevent tampering and theft. And you're gonna get a low profile unit that is easy to work around. Some additional the benefits of a removable handle include the reduced chance of the barrel getting caught on the chains or cargo, being easier to clean snow, and mud, and ice from the ratcheting gear. And also, easier to store. You won't have this handle sticking out of the middle.
It's gonna be able to be removed and this will be very easy to store. Now, the ratcheting mechanism tightens down and maintains tensions on your chains. And this is going to be an easy to use and safer alternative to lever binders. And it gradually tensions and then releases the chains. Now, this adjustable pawl has two positions for quick take-up or extension.
The take-up position tensions the chains to secure the cargo. And the extension position allows you to safely release the tension and remove the binder. Now, the zinc-plated, forged steel grab hooks will securely attach to your chains. And the forged, powder coated metal construction resist corrosion, and this red color it's highly visible. I do wanna note though, that once you use the handle and the binder, that paint is gonna chip away very easily, even in just the little bit that I have used this here, that paint chip away.
So, just be aware of that. You'll probably wanna store this like in a toolbox or in your vehicle, so it's not exposed to the elements. This is going to meet or exceed FMCSA 40, CHP, CVSA, WSTDA, and DOT standards. And again, this is going to work for chains with 5/16 inch to 3/8 inch thick links. And the safe working load, again, working limit load rather is 7,300 pounds. And the closed length, which I have right now, this is closed, this is gonna be 23 1/4 inches from inside hook to inside hook. And the open length is gonna be 31 1/4 inches. So, that gives you the take-up length of eight inches. This handle length, let me switch my view here real quick. The handle length from end to end of the handle, we're gonna be sitting right at 17 1/4 inches. And the barrel length from here to here, we're gonna be sitting right at 10 inches on that barrel length. The screw diameter is one inch. And the weight is 13.4 pounds. Now, it is important to note that you should not use this for overhead lifting. These load binders are designed to work as part of a complete tie-down system. So, the overall capacity depends on the safe working load limit of the chain that you choose, as well as the capacity of the load binders themselves. The item being tied down must not exceed the combined working load limit of the lowest rated components in this system. Now, with this, you will get one handle and you'll get one binder. If you're looking for a set of binders more than one, we do have the Durabilt ratchet chain binder set with a removable handle. Again, for the 5/16 inch to 3/8 inch chain. The working load limit of that is also 7,300 pounds, but you will get four binders instead of one. You can find that set on our website using item DU97GR. Well, that's gonna conclude our look today. I do hope that it was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me..
