Hi everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com, and today, we're gonna take a look at this Durabilt Ratchet Chain Binder Set with removable handle. This ratchet chain binder set features a removable handle that you can use to secure heavy equipment to your trailer. This is gonna be perfect for agricultural and industrial tie-down applications. When you're done, you just remove the handle to help prevent tampering and theft, and you're gonna get a low profile set of binders that's gonna be easy to work around. Some additional benefits to having a removable handle include a reduced chance of the barrel getting caught on chains or cargo, it's gonna be easier to clean snow and mud and ice from the ratcheting gear, it's gonna be easier to store, because you don't have that handle constantly sticking out of the middle of the binder, so again, it's gonna be very easy to store. Now, the ratcheting mechanism tightens down and maintains tension on your chains, this is an easier to use and safer alternative to lever binders, and it gradually tensions and releases the chains.

The handle has an adjustable pawl as you can see here, I'll give you another view of that there. It has two positions for quick take-up or extension, and the take-up position tensions chains to secure cargo, and the extension position allows you to safely release tension and remove the binder. The zinc-plated, forged steel grab hooks securely attach to your chains, and the forged, powder coated metal construction resist corrosion, and this red color is highly visible. However, I will let you know that just as I've been using this here a little bit, this red powder coat does chip away very easily, so I just wanted you to be aware of that, these are probably gonna be better if you store them in a toolbox or in your vehicle, so they're not constantly exposed to the elements. This meets or exceed FMCSA 40, CHP, CVSA, WSTDA, and DOT standards.

And this is for chains with a 5/16 inch to 3/8 inch thick links, has a safe working load limit of 7,300 pounds per binder, and the closed length, which I have all of these closed right now, the closed length is 23 1/4 inches, and the opened length is 31 1/4 inches, so your take-up length is gonna be eight inches. The handle length, let me go ahead, and while we're viewing from the top there, from end to end on that handle, we're sitting right at 17 1/4 inches, and then the barrel length, I'm gonna be measuring from end to end on just the barrel there, we're sitting right at 10 inches, and the screw diameter is gonna be an inch. And it is important to note that you should not use these for overhead lifting, the load binders are designed to work as part of a complete tie-down system, so the overall capacity depends on the safe working load limit of the chains that you choose as well as the capacity of the load binders themselves. The items tied down must not exceed the combined working load limit of the lowest rated component in the system.
