T-Connector works with fifth-wheel and gooseneck trailers and retains use of your vehicle's factory 7-way connector. It connects your factory 7-pole at the bumper to a new 7-pole in the truck bed. Adapter has a 90-degree angle for tight spaces.I used this part on a 1995 F250 to put a connection in the bed of truck for my fifth wheel camper. This isn't a direct application for my truck and I couldn't find one specific to my truck, so I removed the end that is supposed to plug into the standard connector and spliced in the 2 plugs used on my truck, then used the standard connector to a new socket in my bumper.
I have not had any problems since installing the 54701-003 wiring harness for my 2018 Ram 2500 with ram boxes. I followed these instructions from SoCalAdam...I did follow his comments and only went the 1.25 inches from the top edge of the recess for the bed light
Shocked, Surprised, and Amazed are a few words I would describe the ease of installation for this harness. Literally less than 20 minutes and I am NOT a mechanic...worked great and I would recommend to anyone. Great product!
The BW gooseneck hitch for my 2016 GMC Sierra 1500 is a really nice product. When you make the purchase etrailer sends you a link to the excellent instructions and they send you a [installation] video showing installation. I installed it myself. I did everything they say to do except that instead of cutting a V-notch in the seam in the passenger side wheel well, I removed those four bed bolts and loosened the bed bolts on the driver side. Then I put a short board in between the frame and bed and lifted (with just a little leverage) the passenger side about 1.5 inches. I did the whole installation that way. When you gently lower the bed back down the four inch hole in your bed pretty easily finds the round shape of the hitch because the bed is loose. Also: do remove your bed liner and do cut a 4 inch hole in a board to help hold the 4 inch hole saw stable while your cutting the bed because that can be a bit of a wild ride. Least fun part of the job was getting the bolts tight on the forward and aft crossmembers of the hitch. It’s tight up in there. I could get my torque wrench on a few of the bolts but the rest involved a craftsman 3/4 inch box end with another wrench hooked sideways to the open end for extra leverage. (You gotta make that Craftsman wrench as long as your torque wrench so you know your getting them tight.) I’ll retorque my side plate bolts later because my frame is waxed. Those 3 bolts are easy to get too. As a side note: I’m not excited about the quality of the “in bed” 7 pole plug kit, but I’ll let you know once I get it installed and use it for a while. I’m afraid the 7 connections in the actual plug are cheap and won’t be springy enough to hold a good connection at all 7 points.
I'm very happy with this kit. It was very easy to install, fit perfectly and works great. It is such an improvement, allowing me to plug in my fifth wheel and goose neck trailers in the bed rather than draping the cord over the tail gate. I highly recommend this kit.
Will try to keep this as real as it gets out there. 2015 F250 XLT Crew Cab 8' Bed Ordered the Reese Elite Gooseneck and Barger 90 degree wiring harness. Received the gooseneck hitch and harness quickly. Free shipping got here in two days. Item came in two boxes. The rails were poorly packaged. Box was basically open and beat to hell, leaving markings on the rails' paint. Didn't bother me, but might others. The pucks were loose in the box and were lucky they did not fall out. The second box with the ball, ball mount, harness and misc. hardware was packed so well it took about 5 minutes to take off all the staples and then each product was individually boxed inside. Wish they would treat the rail box with the same care. Instructions are ok. Used the online install video instead. The video is slightly simplified as getting the nuts on the bolts is a slight challenge for a one man install. I was able to do the entire installation by myself with the exception of the four rail-to-frame bolts. Getting these snugged up to the point of being able to torque took two people simply because the nuts are hidden on the backside of the rail...particularly the driver-side front...which is slightly behind the gas tank, but still accessible. My F250 is factory lifted 4-5" so I did not have to remove the rear wheels, nor did I have to remove the spare tire or heat shield. Lower trucks will need the rear wheels pulled. Installing the ball mounting plate took some doing. Got one bolt on then decided to actually install the ball into the plate from above pulling the plate tight below. I used vice grips to basically keep the plate mounted tight rather than trying to lift it from underneath with one had and bolt it with the other. For me the most time consuming part of the project was getting the darned bed bolts off to lift the right side. Broke the T50 bit they supplied and then two others. Finally gave up and ground off two of the remaining bolts...and ordered replacements. Tip for those doing this on their own, you may want to spray the bolts from under with PB Blaster the day before you intend to install. I forgot and the issue was likely that the bolts were rusted. The wiring harness was a breeze, although I wish a shorter version was available. (Perhaps I missed it). Had to loop/zip tie about 2-3' under the bed. Connecting between the factory connectors did require me to pull the mounting plate. Was a bit tight to just slip the new connector in. Also, working the harness thru the hole in the bed side was a bit tight. Install probably took 10 minutes after getting the holes drilled. Total install time for this slightly skilled guy was about 3-1/2 hours...after the bed bolts fiasco. Oh...and did it all with a cast on the left arm. Ha! Now to see how she tows!
This is probably the easiest install you can do. The only thing to watch is the 2 inch hole is tight to get the two plugs and wire thru, just take your time and it will go.
Installed on a 2014 Chevy 3500HD crew cab, long bed, dually with trailer towing package but without camper wiring option. Installation was easy, aside from the thought of drilling a hole in my new truck bed. I was doubtful of the 2" hole where most others specify 2 1/8, but the connections squeaked through the 2". I located the new plug toward the tailgate, above one of the tie-down hooks so it's easy to reach from the rear of the truck, but still out of harm's way. My old truck had it in front of the wheel well and a short person had to climb on the tire to reach it. My 5-er's wire harness comes out of the back of the hitch assembly anyway. There was plenty of clearance for the plug and wire inside the bed walls. Once I snaked it along the frame, it was plug and play with the receiver hitch wiring harness. I put some dielectric grease on the contacts to prevent corrosion. A few cable ties and I was done. The only negative: due to the locating it toward the rear of the truck bed, I wish they offered a shorter harness.
Received the fifth wheel inside bed wiring harness within 2 days; was packaged well, materials new in unopened wraps. Have not installed unit yet but is exactly as pictured and everything is a simple " plug and play" to connect to existing factory trailer 7 pin harness at the trailer hitch above the bumper.
This wiring harness was very easy to install and pluged into the existing factory harness. The "how to" videos were very helpful also. The outlet in the box is nice because the cord does't have to go over the tailgate and may not reach the outlet on the bumper. The web site was easy to use. Shipping was fast and on time. Don't change anything!
No more message on my dash telling me my trailer was disconnected!
Excellent product easy to install I have never had any problems with this wire harness I travel lots of gravel roads and off roading so it does take some rough treatment .i would highly recommend this product to everone.
Bought this 7 foot harness to go in to my new 2012 chevy silverado. Wasn't sure where I wanted to put the plug receptacle in the bed. Watch the video and it show the installer putting the plug end down low in the lower left corner. If you haul dirt , mulch or gravel I felt this was a bad spot so I found another. Chevy has 3 plastic plug covers in both sides of the bed for a ladder rack/tool holder attachment accessory they sell. I pulled the middle plug cover out which is oval and with my dremel tool I made the hole round to the proper size and fed the wire down the hole and over the wheel well down to the back bumper where just like the video it shows how to make the connection. Mounted in the bed in this location the 7 foot plug lead gives you plenty of room to route and secure the wires out of the way. If you crank down the spare tire its easier to run the wire and secure the wire to different points. My bed has no new holes in it. The plug is up high out of the way which works for my fifth wheel and the plug was wired correctly so all the lights/brakes work like they should. Good deal
It has been about a year since I installed the harness in my truck. Working great. Easy to install. Sure is nice to have the plug inside the truck bed then have the electric cord hanging over the tail gate to plugged it in.
Easy to installation and perfect fit. etrailer provides great products and delivers quickly.
After ordering this confirmed to fit a 2002 Ford F-250 SuperDuty I spent a day cutting, splicing, soldering, & heat shrinking. The plug to the truck doesn't match the plug to the harness, square peg in a round hole. I needed the truck so I had to make it work, not send it back. Thanks for a massive waste of money and time e-trailer.
Die to COVID Supplier Issues it took a long time to be available. Still great Service from Etrailer. One of the Best People to deal with. Product is great, simple to install.
Easy to upgrade our older pickup with in bed trailer plug. Makes it easy to hook up trailers.
Finally got our trailer out of storage. Hooked it up to the new wiring harness and so far it works great!
I love it. You are also installing a lift kit on my new fifth wheel on July 12
Outstanding product. Allowed me to install a terrific looking, high functioning 7 pin connector in the bed of my 2016 Silverado 3500HD for my Jayco 5th wheel. Installation was plug and play with OEM wiring harness. It's worked great for over a year now with no issues at all. Close inspection and the unit looks as good as new and shows no wear and tear. I highly recommend this product.
The B&W Hitch and wiring harness I purchased worked great. Did the install myself which was a job but the instructions were good and the video may it fairly straightforward. The wireing harness had to be 100% wire-for-wire soldered into place becaue the original connector on my truck had been damaged and replaced. So the plug-and-play part not working was a surprise but we dealt with it. All-in-all a perfect fir for everything. I would highly recommend both items. Great quality and ease of use perfect.
throw a few zip ties in there and you got it all. very well made. much less time consuming and easier than making one yourself. happy I went with the more expensive option the quality was great. a keeper would be nice also for the plug in. I mean the little safety piece you have to remove on the oem plug to disconnect. thanks steve
Does not direct fit into Chevy Silverado. Would have been better to get a standard 7 pin pigtail and wire it in that way. Had to cut off both connections and do just that. Wire colors are different when soldering together. Check all three locations before final connect - truck tail and bed.
well made and fit as it should, much longer than I needed and I got the shortest one they offered. Have not had any problems with it to date
