Hey everybody, Ryan here at etrailer. Today on our 2014 Ford F-250, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Curt Fifth Wheel and Gooseneck In Bed Trailer Wiring. So this connector is going to make towing your Fifth Wheel or Gooseneck Trailer just a little bit easier. You're able to just simply plug the trailer wiring directly into here, as opposed to having to drape your wiring over the tailgate, plug it down by the bumper. This is going to simplify things a little bit. You're not going to have to worry about that wiring scratching up your tailgate or potentially coming unplugged.
This is just going to make that experience a little bit easier on you.So I will say this kit is really well-made. Once you get it in your hands, you can tell it's pretty heavy duty so it should last you a long time. The connector plug itself is pretty low profile actually, so it's not going to take up a bunch of space. And since it is off to the side, you shouldn't have to worry too much about throwing something into your bed and damaging the plug. So nice feature there.
It is going to have a spring loaded cap, that way whenever you're not using it, it'll stay nice and sealed. That way we don't have to worry about any dirt or debris getting inside of there. And whenever you do have your plug connected in there, if you look on the bottom of the cap, there's a little catcher. And so what that catcher is going to do, is rest against your plug and prevent it from accidentally getting pulled out.And since the kit actually just uses a T-connector, you're still able to use the seven way mounted on your bumper as well. So you're not going to have to sacrifice one for the other.
And because of this T-connector, it's going to make installation very easy. It shouldn't take you hardly any time at all. Speaking of which let's go ahead and do that together now. To begin your install, you're going to hop up in the bed of your truck and over here on the driver's side, we're going to need to find a spot to mount up our plug. So I like to do it right here in this area.
And what I've done is found a good spot and put a dot there, that way we can create an opening for our plug to go into. Now, before you do this, you want to check underneath the truck and make sure that you're not going to drill through anything or into something accidentally. So I checked underneath there and we're all clear. So now I'll go ahead and use a hole saw to create our opening. And just to help prevent any rust or corrosion issues. I do suggest taking a paint stick or some spray paint and covering up that bare metal that's exposed from the hole that we created. I'm just going to grab my vacuum and clean up all of our shavings that we created. Now we can grab our harness and we're going to take the T-connector side here that has two ends, we're going to feed it through that hole and drop it down to the underside of our truck. Now these can be a little tricky sometimes, you might have to play with it and find which one goes in easiest first, that way you can get it all pushed down. Once we have them through the hole, just feed it all the way down until we have about a foot of wiring left exposed here in the bed. So what I like to do is take this end of our plug and just put some dielectric grease on the terminals, this will really help prevent any corrosion issues. And if you want some of this, you can pick it up here at etrailer. So we'll apply that coating. You can take our connector plug here and simply pair the two together. With it plugged in, we can put the plug into the opening. I'm just going to try to hold it where it's straight and level, and then we're going to secure it using the provided self-tapping screw. So now underneath the truck, you could see this is where our T-connector dropped down, and now we need to plug this into the factory seven way wiring. So you're going to have to remove it from the factory plug. In our case, ours is broke a little bit, so we we're able to just slide it off. But usually there's a little tab here that you have to push down and pull at the same time, to break it free from the plug. But the way it's going to work is really simple, we're just going to grab some dielectric grease before we plug these in and just give these terminals a good coating too.Do both ends here. So one end of the T-connector, it's going to plug in that factory plug and the other end of the T-connector, we'll go back to the factory seven way. We now have a ton of room to work here. So what I might end up doing is just removing these two 10-millimeter bolts here, holding our bracket on, plug it in and then just re-install it. Put that one on, put these back together, then we can just re-install our bracket. So I went ahead and secured our wiring. This is what it looks like. I just ran it up and over. Had quite a bit extra here, so I just pushed it up and zip tied it. And this is where it runs up to the inside of our truck bed. Now we can go ahead and test our wiring to make sure the functions are working. So we'll hit our running lights, our left turn signal, our right turn signal, our brake lights, our brake controller signal. And as you can see, we have our 12-volt auxiliary power as well. And that'll finish up our look at and our installation of the Curt Fifth Wheel and Gooseneck In Bed Trailer Wiring on our 2014 Ford F-250..

Mount this 7-way, RV-style connector in your truck bed for quick, simple hookup of your 5th-wheel or gooseneck trailer. Custom harness plugs in-line with your existing factory wiring so that you can retain use of your vehicle's factory 7-pole.Couldn't be any easier. This made my 5th wheel hitch install a breeze and impressed the wife! HAHA. Thanks again.
Install was very easy, wish it would come with some of that gel you’re suppose to put inside of it. Just needs a little and no need to buy a whole big tube of it. Haven’t used it yet but was everything I needed for my Fords new gooseneck. Didn’t want to plug it in at bottom of bottom of bumper
Had multiple wiring failures using this harness. Once removed, failures stopped instantly
etrailer came through got it to me in time for our big camping trip even though it wasn’t looking like it was going to show up in time. The jack works perfectly, build quality is good. Took most of the away out of our 5th wheel. It does exactly what it is designed to do. Watch your fingers though it’s a finger pincher for sure. Very happy with it would recommend to anyone.
This is a neat and clean way to add an outlet in the truck bed. It took me longer to remove, clean and repair the butchery done by the installer that used pinch on clips than it took to install this solution. The original install with the wires just clipped on to factory wires resulted in poor lighting on the camper but, much worse, resulted in intermittent brake failure! No such problem with the Curt install.
to be honest I bought this harness to modify making my own plug and play solution with out me have to cut my existing harness and running power wires to the rear of the truck also already set up to run additional brake lights and reverse and I have power for bed lights etc... I did incorporate a disconnect switch and buss bar and I have can still use the trailer.
Easy to install. Wiring was plug and play. Glad the camper cord don’t have to lay on the tailgate.
Seems good but will not be long enough if you want to place in front the wheel on a short bed
Super easy to install, plenty of wire to put the harness where ever you pretty much want in the bed. Quality wiring harness and connectors.
Easy to install, especially with the “how to video” from this website. I wish I would have installed this many years ago. I’ve got friends and family wanting one in their trucks as well. Makes life much easier if you pull a gooseneck. No more pulling out the plug when making tight turns.
Another excellent job done getting my package delivered to me on time and in great shape. Excellent customer service I now have my B&W hitch installed and the wiring harness installed in the bed of my 2021 Chevy. Thanks Guys
Plug and play. No cutting or spicing wires. Just cut the 2in hole in bed run wiring thru it. Bolt the plug to bed. Run wires down to 7 way. Unplug factory plug. Plug this in and factory back into this plug wire tie extra wire up an done .
Very easy to install. Works wonderful for plugging in fifthwheel so there is no wiring over tailgate. And still able to maintain oem plug.
Awesome, awesome, awesome!! Great harness! A little expensive, but super easy to install. While unplugging your connections, add dielectric grease to prevent future issues. Thank you Curt for making a harness that installed in 10 minutes. I can now pick up my fifth wheel with no issues!
This harness is excellent. It plugged right in and looks like it should last a while. It also included plenty of zip ties and the necessary mounting screws. The hardest part was mustering up the nerves to drill a 2-1/8” hole in the bed of your truck. After drilling the hole, I put touch up paint on the bare metal to prevent rust. I also put silicone sealant in the screw holes, after they were tapped, to seal the metal there too. Install was quick and easy with the right tools; just the hole saw and a drill driver with the appropriate socket for the mounting screws.
Installation was very easy and straightforward. It took about 10 minutes; once the spare tire was out. The hardest part was taking out and putting back in, the spare tire. If you have a 5th gen Ram that didn’t come with a gooseneck plug, there should be a plastic cover where it would be. Pop that out and your hole for the wiring is already there. There will be four small squares in the corner. The plug that is mounted to the firewall has enough clearance, so you can mount it to the bed using the provided self-tapping screws.
I purchased this unit after reading the reviews. I received both the C56070 and a B&W OEM hitch within a few days of placing my order. Etrailers’s customer service is excellent! The installation of this wiring harness took about twenty minutes including cutting the hole for mounting. Everything but the hole saw was included in the package! I am very pleased with my purchase! Be sure to watch their installation videos prior to purchasing, they give real insight into the process! The plug in is located in the bottom left corner of the photo!
Great product! a 10 for sure. The 7 foot cord was more than adequate. Good quality product. I installed on 2019 Ram 2500 Big Horn. I will tell you dont even try the install without lowering the spare tire. Even if you are able to fish the wire over (like I did) you will not be able to make the connection to the existing 7 pinn on the bumper. the plug adapter is wired in such a way that you cannot get your hand and the wire in the right orientation. The install of the unit will be less than an hour and probably closer to 30 min. One last tip, when reinstalling the spare be careful not to push the tire to far to the front there is a thin metal shroud that the tire will rub on and squeak over every little bump. test it before you are done, ask me how I know. LOL
It worked great,so good I took it off my truck I traded in and putting it on my 2022 f-150.I buy all my trailer and truck equipment from etrailer, good products and service! Fast shipping also!
This is a great product! It was easy to install. All connections worked from the start and continue to work correctly.
This part fit perfectly. Directions were simple and left nothing to guess work. It was made to unplug one connection on the vehicle and plug the new part in between that connection. It was very simple to install. I use etrailer.com for all my similar parts like this. The parts always fit the vehicle I have purchased them for. If you have a question about the item or it’s installation, you can call and speak with a live person that will assist you. Their customer service is really second to none. That is extremely important today when so many online companies provide absolutely little to no product support. I will continue to be a loyal retailer.com customer for product availability, their great prices, and especially for their customer support.
Great price and a easy install! I like this wiring harness because everything that was needed was included. After 1 year no issues to report. I will buy this wiring harness for my next truck.
Very easy to install and the directions were very clear. Works perfect and was a direct plug and play with the factory installed wiring. Be careful what is on the back side of the area you drill into for the plug as I hit a brace and had to replace the part I drilled out which was simple but took longer.
Product is exactly what I needed to get my 5th wheel to connect to my pickup truck.
I always like to have the 5th wheel plug in the bed. This makes it easy to install.
