Video Transcript for Curt Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring - Trailer Hitch Wiring - C56110 Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at part number C56110, this is your replacement OEM wiring harness. This product is going to fit certain years of the Ford F150 and the E series vehicles. It's going to supply your 4 way flat plug at the back of the vehicle. Now, this is designed to be an exact replacement for a damaged, or needing to replace OEM wiring harness. Here on the 4 way flat, it's going to come with the protective cap, that way you can protect your connection points when the connector is not being used. Just goes over that area there, and then comes over the connectors.

It's also going to come with your detailed instructions, it's going to come with your cable ties to secure any excess or lose wires that you may have, and it's going to come with self taping screw to make a good ground connection right here with the ring terminal, and white wire. Very easy installation, you do not have to worry about cutting or splicing any of your wires. All you have to do is locate the OEM trailer wiring harness connector on top of the spare tire support, it's usually located on the driver side, it favors the driver side. You're going to insert the new connector. The connector should match up perfectly, make sure it's fully inserted, it's going to lock and secure into place for a nice, tight, secure connection. Then you're going to need to make a good ground connection using an existing screw with the nut, or you can use the supplied self taping screw.

Place that right here through the ring terminal that's attached to our white wire, which is our ground wire. Once you have that connected you can then route the 4 way back to the rear of the vehicle, and then you can secure it in a convenient, out of the way location, near the hitch. Again, detailed instructions, these are going to have pictures that are going to help you through the installation process, very detailed. Once you have that done you can go ahead and use some of the cable ties to secure the wiring, keeping it up and out of the way. That's going to do it for today's look at part number C56110.

Item fit perfectly to factory harness and was easy to install. Works great.

2012 Ford F-150

This harness for my Ford F-150 was a perfect fit. When I bought my truck it had a hitch but no light harness and everywhere local wanted $50+ dollars. This was an excellent price and so easy to install. Took me a few minutes. All you need is a power screw driver to screw the ground wire down and plug in the harness and that’s it. Definitely recommend this to anyone!

Happy with your wiring harness good prompt delivery will use for future purchases.

I can not be happier with the service and product. I received the Draw Tite Class III trailer hitch on time as expected. From start to finish and by myself, it took me exactly 15 minutes to install. I did not need to lower spare tire and it looks clean and neat on the truck. It took me longer to open the cardboard box. Thank you for your great service and follow up and I will highly recommend you in the future.

After an long search to find this products ETrailers was the only company I could find to carry this product. I will definitely continue doing business here. Great communication, great product and extremely quick shipping.

F-150 2011
4 wire plug excellent part
no problem on install
Would of been 5 star , but ground wire terminal was too small for OEM ground , i had to
Replace terminal for correct size to fit my application

This harness worked great and plugged right in as advertised.
I strongly recommend etrailer for all your towing needs.

I was told that I had to go thru Ford to get the part I needed and it was $65. I got the part thru etrailer for a fraction of the price. It was delivered very quickly and was exactly what I needed. Thank you etrailer!!!!

A year later and I'm still happy with my purchase!

2016 Ford F-150

2014 Ford F-150

  • No Power To Brake Output Pin On 2014 Ford F-150
The first thing that I recommend you do to test the brake output circuit on your 2014 Ford F-150 is turn the power settings up to max on the brake controller, have a friend apply the manual override, and test the 1 o'clock pin on the 7-way. If you don't get 12 volts then you will need to sever the brake output behind the brake controller and test again for power with the manual override applied at full power. If you don't get 12 volts then replace the brake controller. If you do get 12...

The Curt Replacement OEM Wiring Harness for Ford F-150 # C56110 is the correct fit for your 2017 F-150. The OEM wiring your need to connect to is on top of the spare tire support on the driver's side. You will need to remove a cover since there wasn't already a 4-way installed.

  • Boat Trailer Lights Sometimes Work and Sometimes Do Not When Connected to 2010 Ford F-150
It sounds like the connector on your truck may be corroded or there is a loose connection from the vehicle side connector to the boat trailer. I would begin by checking the vehicle and trailer side connector for corrosion, if there is corrosion you will need to replace the connector. Next, you will want to check to make sure all the lights on the trailer have a good ground to a clean metal surface. If you are using a plastic license plate holder, this make be preventing the left light...

If you want to add a separate 4-pole connector to your F-150 to power the lights in your tool box you can use part # 118384. This will simply plug in behind your existing trailer connector, going inline with it. Your existing 4-pole/7-way will remain active but you'll then have a second separate 4-pole for connection to the tool box lighting. If your tool box uses different wiring/connectors than a standard 4-pole, please let me know. You'll want to ensure the total load from all lights...

  • Troubleshooting Factory 4 Pole Trailer Connector on 2013 Ford Edge
It's possible that you've got some blown fuses or relays in the distribution box under the hood. Check fuse locations 37, 53, and 63. If you have blown fuses, it's likely they were blown by short circuits in the wiring of the trailer towed by the previous owner. If the fuses aren't the issue, rather than tracing the trailer wiring from the rear of the vehicle up front, you'll be better served by just abandoning the factory setup and installing an aftermarket trailer wiring harness like...

The TowReady 4-Pole Trailer Adapter for Trucks w/ Factory 7 Way, Part # 118384, is an adapter that is designed to provide a 4-pole trailer connector on vehicles that have a factory 7-way. This Y-shape harness plugs into the existing 7-way and provides both a 7-way connector and a 4-way. This enables you to add the 4-way connector without losing the 7-way, giving your F-150 the ability to tow trailers with either type of connector. • Is there a Specific Wiring Color Code for a 7-Way Trailer Connector on a 2013 Ford F-150
Factory wiring could be any color since there is no one standard that all manufacturers follow. You will need to test the wires by function using a circuit tester such as # PTW2992 if you do not already have one. I have included a picture that shows a standard 7-Way and how it is pinned out. That should help if you still have the wires attached to the factory connector.

I do have a way for you to install a 7-way trailer connector on your 2012 Ford F-150 but the plug in the photo you attached does not have all of the circuits needed for a 7-way trailer connector so there is not one that plugs directly into this. Instead, you would first need to install a 4-way trailer connector like the Replacement OEM Wiring Harness part # C56110 which does use that plug and then adapt this 4-way into a 7-way using the 7-Way RV and 4-Way Flat Adapter part # ETBC7.
