This vehicle-end trailer connector gives you the functionality of a 7-way, but without any pins or blades to bend or break. It's designed to work with a matching EZ Connector plug (sold separately) to create a secure, watertight connection that lasts. Strong magnets in both the plug and the socket keep the connection tight and secure, even when you're driving on rough terrain. The built-in O-ring on the lid creates a seal to keep out water and debris while the connector is not in use. And spring-loaded, face-to-face electrical contacts are long-lasting and easy to clean. These factors combine for a strong, durable connection that's easy to use and to maintain.
The EZ Connector system uses magnets inside the plug and socket to hold the connectors together. Simply insert the trailer-end plug (sold separately) into this vehicle-end socket and the internal magnets will snap them together, no latch needed. To disconnect, just pull the plug out by hand.
This is an improvement over typical trailer connectors, which rely on a plastic latch on the socket lid to hold the trailer plug in place. With any trailer connector it can be easy to forget to disconnect the wiring when you unhook your trailer. If you drive off without disconnecting a standard 7-way plug, the connector will get pulled out of the socket, likely tearing off the lid. Without a lid, the electrical terminals are exposed to damaging moisture and debris. But if you forget to remove the EZ Connector plug when unhooking your trailer, the plug will disconnect from the receptacle as you drive off. And because there's no latch on the socket's lid to get in the way, the lid will automatically close to cover the terminals.
The magnet inside of this trailer connector is made of neodymium, an extra-strong, rare-earth alloy. This high-quality magnet ensures a tight connection between the connectors that is stable enough to make it through intense bumps and road vibration.
The lid on this trailer connector has a silicon O-ring that creates a watertight seal over the socket when the lid is closed. The EZ Connector trailer-end plug (sold separately) has a double O-ring that will create a seal when it's inserted into the connector. This ensures that the terminals on this vehicle-end socket stay protected from moisture and debris at all times.
All of the EZ Connector systems have earned a perfect score on the SAE water submersion test. This means that the seal created on this connector, either with the lid or with the EZ Connector trailer-end plug, will stay watertight, even if the connector is completely submerged in water for extended periods of time.
This EZ Connector socket has spring-loaded, face-to-face electrical contacts instead of pins or blades. Pins and blades can bend, corrode, and even break off, which can lead to a permanently damaged connection. With the EZ Connector system, there are no pins or blades to bend or break. Because there are no pins or blades, there are also no pin sockets on the trailer-end plug (sold separately) that can trap debris. And if any dirt or debris does collect on the terminals of either end of an EZ Connector setup, it can be quickly and easily wiped away. No more scraping pins to get grime off. After about a year of use, the magnetic trailer connector works really well. I no longer have to worry about pulling the wiring out of socket at a 45 degree angle.
Was told this would fit the company 2500 chevy van as we are a boat dealer and needed to have the van Trailer ready. Was incompatible with the wiring harness we had Its been sitting around collecting dust ever since'
This fit nicely on my 2021 Ford F-150. It was actually much easier to remove the old plug than I expected. This combined with the EZ Connector trailer plug make a much more secure electrical contact than I felt I had with the standard 7 pin connector and plug. Sometimes my truck wouldn't recognize that a trailer was connected with the "old" style plug. Although I didn't have a license plat frame I had some difficulty getting the screws started into the mounting plat until I removed the license plat, then it was easy.
Great product and works flawlessly. The only thing that kept me from giving it 5 stars was the cheap, flimsy mounting bracket that goes to the right of the license plate that holds the vehicle connection for the trailer to plug into. The magnets are so powerful I feel like I'm going to rip the plug off the truck every time I go to unplug the trailer. If they made a better mounting bracket, I would buy one in a heartbeat. The pic with my thumb in it shows how easy it is to pull the plug away from the truck.

So I had the EZ connector on my trailer, but bought a new tow vehicle and was using the adapter to pull the trailer. The adapter allowed my EZ connect trailer to use the standard 8 blade on my new Ford. Had a lot of faults and connection issues as the adapter wasn't making good contact on the truck side. So, I finally put the EZ connector on my Ford and this solved all my connection issues. Easy to install and makes a solid connection. No more brake or light outages!! As usual, Etrailers pricing and shipping was very fair and customer service is friendly and a pleasure to deal with.
We went camping frequently over the last year. Everytime I connected the EZ Connector it is literally a snap, done! No more wiggling the connector, checking lights at every stop. It is a solid connection.
I have a 2009 Dodge Ram, and I needed help with the bolt configuration. The staff helped me install correctly, great service.
I highly recommend this product, and will install on every trailer/camper I ever get.
This is the second time that I've used this wiring setup. I like it because it's a 'sure, positive' connection from the trailer to the truck. I made the switch a couple of years ago because of the frustration that I'd had with the 'typical' multi-pin hookups that allowed for corrosion problems. Obviously, you'll need the 'male' counterpart on the trailer and the entire package is a little bit expensive but I'll gladly pay the additional cost if it gives me a 'foolproof' connection. It's really a 'no brainer' in my estimation.

Very well engineered and built. Easily replaces the OEM 7&4 pin harness I had before. Appears to be much more weather resistant than what I had, but time will tell.
Excellent product I have yet to put it on my truck since it’s winter time. But it will be done right away in the spring. But the quality by far superior to what comes on the truck or any other replacement connecter I have bought.
Easy install - disconnect the old terminal, drill a few holes, install the new terminal.

Typically this is going to work with a Chevy Express Van that already came with a factory tow package; is often uses as a replacement harness. It connects with the US Carr connector on the vehicle. If the van does not have a factory tow package then you would start with a four way harness like part # 55540. It will give a 4 way flat to the van. To add on a seven way you can then use kit part # ETBC7 to add on a seven way. I will have our Customer Service team reach out to work towards a solution with you.
