This wiring harness came in really fast as well with the hitch but I made the mistake and ordered the wrong one so I'll be returning it for a refund. I don't expect any issues with that either!

2008 Toyota Highlander

So easy. and I found a useful [online] video. I love that I can leave the wires in the storage compartment inside the car and just run it under the weather stripping on the rare occasions when I need it. Trailer wires have always tended to get rusted out in my experience. super easy!

by:

I have received two orders from etrailer and have been extremely pleased with their responsiveness...fastest I have ever seen for this type of product. I would recommend everybody to use "etrailer" for items they need. Ron Buske

by:

Easy setup & directions

by:

Easy to install. So with the hitch.

by:

harness was plug and play and install was easy. One trick I would says is just remove the plastic base trim at the door latch and then lift up the storage tray to get the plug. No need to remove the whole tray and such.

by:

Worked like a dream

by:

Easy enough to install. Turns out I did need the light control module (dealer gave me bad info)

Toyota Highlander

I installed this product on the Toyota Highlander I inherited from my sisters estate. I purchased a 5' x 8' trailer to pull behind it. I discovered the wiring harness was too corroded to work. Found Hopkins Custom Fit wiring harness on-line, it installed easily and works well. I just keep the harness in the back of the car and feed it out the back hatch to connect to the trailer. Works good!

2015 Toyota Highlander

Connectors match factory harness on my 2015 Highlander, but, of course, it is missing the strain relief, protection and gromet. External flat plug is an exact match so it will fit the factory bracket, but the plastic mount (HM48595) they make for this is better, just get a couple of stainless steel screws and nuts to attach it and you won't have a rusted mess like the factory bracket. I ended up splicing the external plug onto my factory harness to replace the factory plug with a broken off ground pin. This seemed the simplest way to keep all the factory strain relief, etc. Would have preferred the splice not be under the car, but I'm hoping adhesive lined heat shrink will protect the solder joints adequately.

Very easy install, I watched a video on youtube

Very happy with this product and would definitely recommend ordering from this dealer. Product arrived on time and well packaged. It was as described and it worked perfectly. I give this a 5 star rating

  • 4-Way Trailer Wiring Harness Recommendation for 2018 Toyota Highlander with Tow Package
Yes, the Hopkins 4-way part # HM11141825 that you referenced will simply plug right into the port at the rear of your 2018 Toyota Highlander and then you'd be ready to go. I attached a picture of where you'll find the port at for the harness on your vehicle as well as an install video for you to check out too.

  • How to Determine if 2008 Toyota Highlander is Equipped with Factory Taillight Converter
Luckily, rather than trying to understand the VIN check, the easiest way to determine if your Highlander is equipped with the taillight converter is to get a quick peek at the 10-pin connector it would plug into. The connector is located under the dash, between the emergency brake pedal and the brake pedal, as shown in the provided photo. If there's nothing plugged into the connector, you'd want to use the # HM11141845, as the trailer wiring won't work correctly without a taillight converter....

  • Trailer Wiring Harness for 2018 Toyota Highlander XLE
Installing a 4 pin trailer wiring harness is a plug and play proposition on all models of your generation of Highlander. Since your Highlander doesn't have the trailer package, you'd want to use # 118449 which installs using the two connectors under the cargo floor right at the threshold for the rear hatch. The kit includes the converter assembly, the trailer connector that plugs into the other connector and the fuse that would need to be installed in the fuse box in the engine compartment....

  • Trailer Wiring Harness for 2012 Toyota Highlander Hybrid
The trailer wiring harness is the same on a 2012 Toyota Highlander Hybrid as it will be a standard Hybrid. The difference in which harness to choose will be impacted by whether or not you have the tow package. If your Highlander has a tow package it will have a converter under the dashboard and you can use Hopkins # HM11141825. If there is no converter under the dash and you don't have the tow package you can use # 118449.

  • How To Determine if the 2018 Toyota Highlander Has A Tow Package For Trailer Wiring
I am happy to help you determine if your 2018 Toyota Highlander has a tow package or not. The easiest way is to visually inspect your vehicle on your own. If you take a look at the video for part # 118449 that I attached on a 2018 Toyota Highlander without a tow package he removes the back tray in the rear cargo area to find the plugs he needs to plug the wiring harness into. If you remove the cargo area tray and you have two plugs (one for a converter and one for the wiring harness) then...

The custom trailer wiring harness for your 2018 Toyota Highlander with the tow package is part # HM11141825; however, it's only a 4-way connector. To get a 7-way on your Highlander start with the # HM11141825 4-way and then use our # ETBC7 kit to convert it to a 7-way. The kit plugs into the already installed 4-way for the lighting funtions and includes all of the wiring needed for the additional functions. • No Power To The Hopkins Plug In Wiring Harness On A 2019 Toyta Highlander
The Hopkins Plug-In Simple Wiring Harness for Factory Tow Package # HM11141825 you have is more than likely not the source of the issue. Most likely it is a blown fuse or missing fuse on the driver's side underneath the steering column, and it is not a super uncommon situation for these fuses to be missing from the manufacturer. • Recommended Trailer Hitch and Wiring for 2019 Toyota Highlander XLE Hybrid
The trailer hitch I highly recommend for your 2019 Toyota Highlander XLE Hybrid is the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver # DT84MR because it offers a unique combination of having a concealed crosstube so your Highlander keeps a clean look, while having a manageable installation on par with that of a hitch that has a visible crosstube, which is not always the case. When we installed Curt trailer hitch # C13200 on a 2014 Toyota Highlander we found that from the ground to the top of the receiver opening was 15-3/4 inches. So to the bottom-most part of the hitch that would be approximately 13-1/4 inches. For that to be an issue the driveway would have to be at a fairly severe angle though it is still possible. Trailer brake controllers are universal parts and will fit any vehicle, including a 2019 Toyota Highlander. As for your first question, the issue with installing some brake controllers on some Toyota's is disconnecting the brake light switch can set off a code in the computer that limits the vehicle's motion.
