This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side tail lights. You will have to remove the tail light assemblies to access this harness. Once you've plugged in the connector, run the red hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery.

T-One Connection Location Points Behind Tail Lights

Once installation is complete, the 4-way connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

Powered Tail Light Converter

A tail light converter is built into this T-connector. This converter is a battery-powered unit that bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness. As a result, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

Video Transcript for Hopkins Plug-In Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness Installation - 2014 Chrysler Town and Country

Hey everybody. How's it going Clayton here at Here at eTrailer we install, test, and review a lot of different products to help you as a customer make a more educated decision before your purchase. Today we're going to be working on a 2014 Chrysler Town & Country. We're going to be taking a look at and I'll be walking you through how to install the Hopkins Simple Plug & Play 4-Pole Wiring Harness. This is what our 4-pole harness is going to look like installed.

We do have it mounted to our hitch with some bracketing. It's nice and concealed under our rear bumper. So you're not going to see it but it's going to be there whenever you need to use it. There are going to be a couple of uses for a 4-pole wiring harness. You might be wanting to add it to your Town & Country to tow a trailer or maybe you have a cargo carrier that needs a 4-pole.

so you can get some necessary lighting functions back to that cargo carrier. So adding that 4-pole is going to be essential. Now, the functions we are going to get from that 4-pole are going to be our taillights, our brake lights, our left turn, and our right turn. Our kit is going to include a power taillight converter that connects directly to your battery to avoid any overloading of your vehicle's electrical system. So it's going to be really nice.

It's going to protect all of our factory wiring while still allowing us to use that 4-pole connector. It does come with a dust cap to protect our 4-pole. As you can see, it's on there right now so you don't have to worry about any dirt or debris getting inside of there. We are going to have some protective connection terminals to resist rust and corrosion on those terminals over time. So you're not going to have to worry about that plug going bad.

We are going to have 3 amps per circuit for our stop and turn signals. We're going to have 6 amps per circuit for our taillights. This kit is going to be completely plug and play with our Town & Country's factory taillight plugs. So that's going to be really nice. It's going to be simple to get it installed. It's not going to take all day to do it. But that being said, I'll go ahead and walk you through the installation now. To start our installation, we want to open our rear trunk and we're going to move over to our taillights. There's going to be two 10 millimeter screws that we need to remove. I have this one on the top and then one more on the bottom. Now I just want to remove our tail lamp assembly, just kind of pull out on it and wiggle it, and this will come out fairly easily. You do want to be careful not to break any of your plastic tabs. If you are having a little bit of trouble you can grab a trim panel tool and kind of stick it behind here and help lift it out. Now with our tail lamp assembly out, we can move back to our plug. We're going to have this red tab, we're going to pull back on it and there's going to be another black tab behind it. We're going to push down and then pull off our wiring. We can now set this off to the side. We now want to grab our wiring harness, we're going to take our 4-pole end and just drop that down to the opening, just like so, and we want to hang on to the yellow and brown wire plug. We're going to plug that into our stock harness. Just want to grab our stock wiring. We're going to slide that plug over till you hear it click. We just want to drop our wire down with the green wire, our plug down to the green wire, I should say. You can grab that at the bottom here in a moment. Now, I'm going to grab our long red wire provided. We're going to be adding that to our butt connector from our harness To start, we'll just add our crimpers onto there, and we just want to slide that wire into the butt connector and crimp it down. Oh, it is going to be a good idea to add some electrical tape to this just to help ensure a good connection. So our connection made, now we're just gonna drop that red wire down through our opening and pull it out of the bottom. The opening down here is pretty big so if you just feel around, you should be able to grab that wire. We're now ready to route our ground wire, I just went ahead and stuck that down into our rear compartment here. And you want to grab your provided self-tapping screw with a 1/4 inch nut driver. We're just going to slide that onto the ring terminal and ground it right there. Now, I want to grab some two-sided tape our kit didn't come with any, but you can find some at your local store. We want to make sure to clean off a nice area with some rubbing alcohol. I went ahead and already did that right here. Now we can take that protective covering off the back just reach in and stick this to the side of our van. Now we want to grab our tail lamp assembly. We're going to grab the open end of our plug and plug that into our stock harness. You hear a click and you want to make sure to push that red tab back down to lock it in place. Now we can reinstall our tail lamp assembly in the reverse order we took it apart. We'll repeat that same process for removing our tail lamp assembly over on the passenger side. Moving underneath of our van, now we want to run our 4-pole out to our hitch. So there's going to be some bumper supports. We're just going to run all of our wiring behind there and zip tie it where it's needed. We're now going to run our plug over to our passenger side taillight using the same channels. Then, a good idea is going to be to add some wire loom to these wires that come right down out of the body because they do make contact with metal. So doing this is just going to help ensure that your wires aren't going to get damaged over time. And so I zip tied our wiring just up and out of the way with our bumper supports here. It's going to keep that wire nice and high and out of the way of any damaging factors. Now we just want to take our wiring. We're just going to push that up and through our opening just like we did on the driver's side, there'll be a little ledge there You can set that wiring on, and then we can lower the car back down and grab our wiring from the top. Then we can reach down, grab our wiring, whenever you pull it up, you want to make sure it doesn't get hung up on your exhaust. You have quite a bit of extra wiring, so I'm going to pull that tight and actually zip tie it up here to keep that tension on our wiring. That way it doesn't drop back down. And making our connections is going to be same as it was over on the driver's side. We'll grab our stock harness, plug our new one into it, until you hear that click. We can grab our tail lamp assembly. We're just going to grab our new harness and plug that into the old one. Make sure you click that red lock back down and then we can reinstall our tail lamp assembly. We're now going to jump back under our Town & Country and run our red wire up to the battery. I'm going to go ahead and do it, and then I'll show you the route we took. Our red wire comes out right here. I added some wire loom to this just to help protect it. And I ran it up and over that gap in our hitch, following the hitch beside our storage port right here there was another gap in our hitch that I used a zip tie to secure that wiring to. Then I ran it up and over our suspension. Now this is very important. You want to stay out of the way of anything hot or moving. So I ran it up kind of along our frame rail right here, staying out of our spring, and then just followed our factory lines up this way. Then it starts to drop down right up here and I zip tied it to some factory lines. And I followed that right through here adding zip ties every so often just to help secure it. And our wire comes out right down here. I added a zip tie and then ran it back over to our factory wiring and then ran it right up the frame rail right here with some factory lines and our wiring comes up and down right here. Now we're ready to run a pull wire up to our battery. Now in this vehicle our battery is going to be on this left side. You do want to stay out of the way of your steering here. So we're just going to run it up that firewall into the battery, using an airline tube. We have our pull wire ran down behind our battery behind some factory lines down to the bottom. We're now ready to pull it up. Now we're just going to secure our wire with some zip ties down to our factory lines just to make sure that there's no slack in it. Now, I just want to trim off a little bit of our wire, strip this on back, and twist. Now you want to grab our fuse holder, grab our butt connector, add that to our wire, and crimp it down. Now you just want to grab our heat gun and heat shrink our butt connector. With our butt connector shrunk down, we're just gonna grab some electrical tape and add that over our butt connector to ensure a good connection. We're now ready to make our connection to our battery. We're going to be removing a 10 millimeter nut on top. You just want to slide our ring terminal over that and then reinstall our nut. Now I just want to grab our 15 amp fuse and add that to our fuse holder. With our tester hooked up to our wiring, we can now test out all of our functions. We'll start with our brake light signal, do our left turn, our right turn, and our running lights. There are going to be a couple of different ways we can mount our plug. You can grab your dust cover like this and slide it over the plug end. You can just grab your dust cover, run it through your hitch Do it like this to secure it. Or if you wanted to buy a bracket to mount to the hitch you can find one of those here at This is going to be a no-drill bracket, just goes right around the hitch, gonna make our wiring look a lot nicer. Our customer went with that, so we'll go ahead and get that hooked up now. We do want to make sure to add the provided dielectric grease to your pins before hitting the road. This is just going to help provide a good connection over time, and it is included with our kit. That's going to complete our look at any installation of Hopkins' Simple Plug and Play 4-Way Wiring Harness on our 2014 Chrysler Town & Country..

Hopkins Plug-In Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector - HM11141995

Average Customer Rating:  4.7 out of 5 stars   (62 Customer Reviews)

Quickly and easily install a 4-way trailer connector on your vehicle with this custom harness. T-connector plugs directly into existing wiring. Powered converter reduces strain on wiring system.

Great fit, was concerned at first when I noticed the brake wire wasn't attached, however I also noticed the vehicle's wiring harness included wires not connected to a bulb. All signals to the trailer ran perfectly when tested.

My only issue was not having an appropriate connector for attaching the power wire to the battery. Minor issue though.

Although the vehicles harness is designed for providing a trailer signal this device provides a buffer that protects the vehicles electrical system.

works great easier to wire. Could use a couple extra prong weather covers they fall off way to easy

Plug and play. Hardest part was running a wire under the car. Easy as pie.

Still as good as the day I got it

Great service fast shipping. This harness sure makes it a simple task to wire up my Grand Caravan for towing.

After stringing the wire to the battery ended up a foot short had to splice it, as the old saying goes "Better a foot too long than an inch short". Sent this message to the manufacturer.

The 5:10 mark of the attached video shows the route to the taillights but I am assuming you mean the route to the battery, which starts at the 7:00 mark. This shows the best route to take so that you do not have to splice extra wire to the harness.

It was easy to install, costumer service was amazing. Thanks for everything.

Only pulled a trailer a few times. After letting my van warm up, smelled something electrical burning. Noticed left rear blinker was not working. Problem, wiring harness converter box burn up, blew the van fuse.
Less than six months old, etrailer would not replace or refund. Wiring harness only has 90 day warranty. $[XX] well spent, not

2017 Dodge Grand Caravan

The wiring harness worked just fine as advertised. It took about 2 1/2 hours to install but that is because I am overly meticulous. I could probably do it again in half the time. I am happy. The mounting bracket (18144) I ordered with the harness had a cutout slightly too small to accept the 4-pin plug. I used files to enlarge it and eventually made it fit. I suggest try ordering a different bracket from another manufacturer.

The 18144 bracket will not work with hopkins wiring harnesses. I recommend a brophy bracket part # BK4F

The wiring looked complicated and formidable coming out of the box but fortunately the video on etrailers website made it very easy to install. The only catch was the video kept calling the long wire that went up front to the battery a "black" wire but in fact it was red. Other than that it went very well. It took maybe 1.5 hours.

Had a mechanic install, wasn’t hard but having the right tools, lift and wiring knowledge was helpful

Installation was super easy. and it seems to be a nice product, however during my first trip the lights kept turning on and off while I was driving. I though it was the trailer wiring. After a while the only ligh that was working was the Right rear turn/brake light. Not fun driving at night that way!. When I got back I did further testing and the problem was this interface. I requested a warrantee replacement and etrailer sent one right out. I replaced the control box and it is now working, but i haven't been on an extended trip with it yet. The first one worked for about 2 hours, I hope this one lasts longer. etrailer was great on replacing it, and paid for shipping the old one back, so great service as always.

2001 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty

I am totally pleased with my new hitch and wiring harness. It has been just about a year since I ordered and installed it myself. Great quality. Great customer service , and the product price was very reasonably priced.
To me, this is a top notch company with top notch employees that provide top notch products. It was a pleasure to do business with them.
Oh yes, I almost forgot to mention the great “how-to” videos on their products. These are why I felt confident enough to install it myself.
One more thing. I checked around with other sources, both locally and on line before deciding (this is probably the fourth hitch that I have had over the years), but the reviews for this company and their products were more than I could resist. And the great rewiews were totally accurate. - And, they shipped promptly. My hitch fit great and looks great too - that is to say, one has to really look to even see it. ?????????? 5 thumbs up from this satisfied customer!

Shipped quickly, fair priced

2016 Dodge Grand Caravan

Took minutes to install. The box back by the trailer plug we hide behind the driver brake light. We also placed the ground screw there as well. One note is to drill the hole deep enough. There are 2 body panels. One about 1/4 inch behind the one you can see. Everything else plugged in. We followed the brake lines up to the front to connect the power wire to the battery.

2015 Dodge Grand Caravan

Ordered this Hopkins trailer wire harness for my 2015 Dodge Grand Caravan as a replacement to the curt harness that I installed 3 years ago. After two years the curt harness stopped working so I thinking that this time the Hopkins harness should last longer because the curt harness used two sided tape to hold the control box in place but did not hold and was banging around a lot were as the Hopkins harness has tabs that I can secure the box with zip ties or screws. I was very happy with ordering from etrailer. It was easy to find what I needed and order through the site. Plus fast shipping and email communicaton that my part was shipped the same day I placed my order.

Wiring for trailer was easy just plug it into tail lights and follow directions.
Most difficult for me was working from the ground routing the power wire for the
trailer light module. As I am 74 I do not move as easily as I once did. It was hard for me to get under the van to route the power wire. A lift will make it much easier.

Another quality plug and play product easy to install .

Wiring harness kit was complete and easy to install.

2014 Dodge Grand Caravan

Can quickly, had everything i needed to complete the job and a good video for how to do it.

Product installs easily but pay attention to the instructions for running the power wire to the battery...the wire is only long enough to go the route listed in the instructions

2016 Dodge Grand Caravan

Excellent fit and finish. Looks great on van. Took a little longer to install but I didn't have a lift and needed an extra pair of hands to lift hitch up into position. Watching the video is a great idea before you start.

Plug and play. Straightforward install.

  • Trailer Taillights Not Illuminating With Hopkins Wiring Harness On 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan
In most cases when only one function is not working properly or intermittently it means there is a bad ground connection somewhere on your setup. I would double check the ground connection on the vehicle Hopkins plug part # HM11141995 to make sure it is grounded to a clean bare metal surface free of debris or paint. Grounding issues tend to show up most with the running light circuit because those lights remain on continuously and so they draw more current. You also want to make sure the...

  • Hopkins Trailer Wiring Harness Not Working on a 2015 Dodge Caravan
Yes, there is a way to test the converter box from Hopkins Plug-In Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector Item # HM11141995 to determine if it is the problem. You will need a circuit tester such as # PTW2992 or a meter if you have one to perform the test. The first part of testing is to use the circuit tester or meter to check for power on the wires coming into the converter box from the vehicle. Have someone sit in the vehicle to operate the lights while you...

The Hopkins Wiring # HM11141995 and Tekonsha Wiring # 118534 for your 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan are the same thing with the only real "spec" difference being that the Tekonsha kit can handle more amperage at 4.2 amps for the stop/turn circuits and 7.5 amps for the tail lights. I actually recommend going with the Tekonsha wiring because of the higher amp ratings but also we have found the Tekonsha electrical products to be more reliable than the Hopkins electrical products in the long run.
