Quickly and easily install a 4-way trailer connector on your vehicle with this custom harness. T-connector plugs directly into existing wiring - no cutting or splicing required.
Features:
This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located in your rear cargo area on the driver's side and passenger's side. You will have to remove the rear threshold and some interior lining to access this harness.
Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed in your trunk.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.
A tail light converter is built into this T-connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of the trailer. This converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

Today we're going to take a look at the Hopkins plug-in, simple vehicle wiring harness with the four way flat trailer connector. Now, this is a custom fit part; it is designed to fit the 2006-2015 Honda Civics. On a custom fit part, I always like to recommend for you to go to our website, use our fit guide, put in your year and model vehicle, and it'll show you if this will work for your application. This harness will provide this four way flat trailer connector at the back of your vehicle to power your trailer signal lights. It is compatible with five pole, six pole, and seven pole adapters that we sell separately. This whole unit will connect very quickly and easily; there's no cutting or splicing of wires. Basically, you just locate your connection points, which are in the rear cargo area, plug these connectors in.
You'll have two going on the driver's side, and one going on the passenger side. Ground your white wire, and then just run your four way out towards where your hitch should be. This part does include this taillight converter, this black box here, and this is to ensure that your vehicle's wiring will match that of your trailer. They do use protective connection terminals on these connections to help resist corrosion. Does come with everything shown here on the table; nice set of detailed instructions on how to install everything. Basically when you go to install, this is pretty simple. What you want to do is, first I would recommend to go to the driver's side in the rear cargo area, and access the taillights.
You'll have the two connectors, the one with the yellow wire, and the other one with the brown and red wire. Those will connect on the driver's side; you'll unplug the connections over there and plug these right in. You'll have the connector that's connected to this long length of green wire; that's for the passenger's side. You'll run this all the way over there to the passenger's side, and again, connect this behind the taillight. Your converter box, you do want to attach that to a nice flat surface so it doesn't bounce around. They do give you a couple cable ties that you can run through here to hold it into place.
The white wire you do need to attach. You can see it has a length of white wire with an island on it. If there's a nearby good, clean ground you can connect this to that. If you need to make one, they do include a grounding screw. The other nice thing is they include this dust cap for your four way, and what's nice about that, you can attach it to the four way plug, and you can leave it attached if you'd like. When you're not plugged into your trailer, just put it on over the terminals, and it protects them from any damage or from the elements.
The last thing they include is this nice package of terminal grease, which is a dielectric grease and you do want to use that on all your electrical connections. So, on all these, put some grease on each end before you plug them in, and then even use it on the four way when you connect it to your trailer. That grease will help resist any corrosion from building up in your terminals. That should do it for the review on the Hopkins plug-in simple wiring harness with the four way flat trailer concenter.
