Quickly and easily install a 4-way trailer connector on your vehicle with this custom harness. T-connector plugs directly into existing wiring. Powered converter reduces strain on wiring system.
Features:
Specs:
This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness. The connection point for the 4-way tow harness is located in your rear cargo area, on the driver's side. The converter module plugs into the factory wiring harness beneath your dash, on the left side of the steering wheel. Once you've plugged in the converter module, insert the included fuses into the built-in fuse holders.
Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed in your spare tire area.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.
A tail light converter is built into this T-connector. This converter is a battery-powered unit that bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness. As a result, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.
Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of the trailer. This converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

Today we're going to take a look at the Hopkins plug-in simple wiring harness with the 4-way flat trailer connector. This is a custom fit part. It is designed to fit the 2007, the 2012 Honda Element vehicles. On a custom fit part I always like to recommend to you to go to our website, use our Fit Guide, put in your year and model of vehicle and it will show the official work for your application. This harness will provide this 4-way flat trailer connector at the back of your vehicle to power your trailer's signal lights. This is compatible with 5-pull, 6-pull and 7-pull adapters that we do sell separately. This does connect very quickly and easily.
There's no cutting or splicing the wires. Basically the tow harness portion right here has a 4-way on it. This will plug into a connection point in your rear cargo area on the driver's side. The converter module portion right here, this will connect beneath your dash. Plug in all your plug-ins right here, and then you'll have a ground wire with an eyelet on it. You need to connect that to a good clean ground if there's one nearby, if not they do include a grounding screw to make your own ground. It does include the tail light converter, and this is to ensure that your vehicle's wiring will match that of your trailer.
It is a power module, that's why it will connect directly to the battery to avoid overloading your vehicle's electrical system. They do use protective connection terminals to help resist corrosion. It does come with this nice dust cap for the four-way. Basically what you can do is when you have this on the back, if you're not plugged in to your trailer, you can just attach and leave your 4-way connected. Oops, let's put it on the right way.
There we go. Once you have your dust cap on here, you can leave it on there, and than all you have to do is if you're not plugged into your trailer, just put that over the terminals and it will protect that from any damage or from the elements. It does come with everything shown here on the table. It comes with a nice set of detailed instructions that will describe how to install it. It comes with some cable ties that take up any slack in any of the length of wire. The grounding screw I had mentioned.
It does come with even a nice packet of terminal grease. The terminal grease you want to put on all your connections, so put some on the 4-way, put them all on your connection points. That will help resist corrosion. A few specs on this. The maximum amp reach on the stop and turn light circuits is three amps per circuit. On the taillight circuit it's six amps. Basically all you have to do is, again, go to the rear cargo area on the driver's side, plug this in. Have your 4-way ready to run out the back. Then this part, the converter module, you go beneath the dash, and you'll pull out an access panel. Go ahead and plug this in right here, that will match the connector there. You have a piece of double-face tape here. You want to connect this to a good flat surface so it doesn't bounce around. What I would even recommend doing is popping open this inline fuse holder, make sure the fuse is installed in there because you want to make sure the fuse is ready. Then again, you ground this wire and you're pretty much ready to go. Have some cable ties if you have any slack in wiring, it'll take any slack up. That should do it for the review on the Hopkins plug-in simple wiring harness with the 4-way flat trailer connector.

Didnt work at all. I waited too long to install it, and etrailer wouldnt replace it or offer refund for the defective parts they sold me. Too bad, as etrailer was a trusted source for me. Last purchase I have made from etrailer.
