Great product for my 1996 F350 Powerstroke. I liked the idea of a detachable socket and plug. Also looks great on the truck, OEM like. I didn't use the supplied butt connectors and just soldered all my wires to my existing oem harness. I Also didn't use the supplied self tapping screws and went with stainless steel bolts and nylon locking nuts for my particular application.

Chevrolet Colorado

The service provided by George and Lacey was the best part of this transaction. Lacey helped me find the right parts and sent me a video about installation. They both worked to correct my order and customized the delivery date.

The parts were precisely what I needed to get power to the bumper for a small trailer and bike rack. A few comments: order more butt connectors as the mfr sent 6 and there were seven wires on my Colorado. When connecting the tail harness to the truck harness, be sure all the wires on each side are the same length. The yellow wire strippers take some getting used to, so practice on several wires first. I’m an ‘average’ handy person so these last two suggestions didn’t come naturally to me, but overall this was a pretty simple installation. When I tested it and all the lights worked, I was a happy camper.

The wiring harness was not color coded and not plug and play. One of the biggest piece of crap I ever purchased. Customer service was nope help, passing me off to tech support, who told me how to cut and splice the wiring harness. Not an acceptable solution. I went and bought from another company and had it installed correctly in a matter of minutes. I will never purchase from etraler again...ever

Comments
I do have another solution for you. The 7-Pole and 4-Pole Trailer Connector Sockets w Mounting Bracket and Wiring # HM40975-11998 is a hard wire application. If you only needed to connect the plug then you can use part # HM40975

GMC Canyon

Recently purchased a new boat and my 2021GMC Canyon did not come with towing package. I ordered the kit with the 7 wire and 4 wire trailer connector that is made to fit my vehicle. When I received it I went to the etrailer web site and watched the video for install and it took about 20 minutes to install. Video was great, very detailed and easy to follow. I would highly recommend etrailer and have made several orders over the last few months.

Ford F-350 Super Duty

This is a great affordable option to replace your worn out or damaged OEM trailer recepticle. The fit is perfect. It is made by Pollak which is the same as the Ford one you replace. I damaged mine and took the pin connectors out of new housing and installed it on my F350 without splicing wires. Worked perfectly.

by:
2016 Chevrolet Colorado

Easy installation! Kit only supplied 6 connectors when there were 7 wires ...... oops!

Comments
Steve, the 6 connectors are correct. The ring connector that attaches to the ground wire is the 7th connector.

This is the same look as a factory install. I was greatly pleased with the overall installation. Super easy to wire up and looks great in the bumper. My truck has the clean factory look for way less than what they had quoted for an install.

Comments
Installation installation and wire color coding information is provided and linked above in the product description.
-- Etrailer Expert Mike L - 07/17/2019

by:

no wire connectors and the yellow wire was wired to the center pin. This is of course not correct. had to wire not based on color but based on pin location.

Comments
I will have our customer service team reach out to you in regard the missing connectors. The pigtail included with the connector uses a different wire color code than usual, see the bottom of the product description page for a description of the color coding. For example the yellow wire in the pig tail would have the reverse light function.

2012 Dodge Ram Pickup

This is a fantastic quality part and an excellent alternative to Ford's OE connector (the difference being this one is far less expensive and does not have the Ford emblem. I used the connector to replace the 7-Pin/4-Pin combination plug on my 2002 Ford Super Duty after swapping the bed/bumper/tailgate from a 2012 Super Duty. It is a vastly superior connector in that the 4-Pin is integrally wired with the 7-Pin as opposed to having the 4-Pin spliced into the harness. I would definitely recommend this part for any towing rig. I eve put one on my father's 1995 Dodge Ram 2500. Don't hesitate to order this one!

Great quality piece and really convenient with both the 7 and 4 pin connections. The instruction video on etrailer’s YouTube page made install a breeze

by:
1992 Ford F-150

The trailer plug went bad on my 92 F150 several years ago. This plug is the same as my 10 F350. I like the combination 7 spade/4 pin. Other combos have a rubber flap to cover the 4 pin plug. I doubt I’m that disciplined and I would think that rubber cover would dry rot and break off. This plug has spring closure doors and looks great!

by:
2016 GMC Canyon

Great product!
Fits the factory hole
in the bumper perfectly.

Attaching the wires was a pain but that was due to GM saving $1 by just cutting the wire ends and not installing a plug......but they were all there so that was a plus.
If you do install this setup AND you install a hitch, leave the spare tire down while you attach the wires. There's plenty of wire with the plug but the factory wires are up kinda close to the underside of the bed so not a lotta room.

ALSO spend the extra couple dollars and get the heat shrink butt connectors, they're available here in whatever size you need.

Another thing to think about, if you plan on eventually installing bed/ cargo lights any time soon, now is the time to add that extra power wire before you crimp, shrink, and tape the hot wire......

by:
2018 Chrysler Pacifica

Bought this trailer connector to use instead of the flat 4 wire connector. Wanted a nice finished look on the rear of the vehicle without any hanging wires. Mounts to the Draw Tite mounting bracket without any modification. Only minor problem I had was with the wiring. The wire colors are not the same between the 4 and 7 pole connector. A call to etrailer got the problem resolved. Great customer service!

by:

The wiring worked as advertised. Installation went smoothly. Testing was a slight problem, because I couldn’t sense any voltage changes in the wiring, had to connect to the trailer and test the old fashioned way. Moved the Chevy connector to the bed because of the video connections and installed the Hopkins in the bumper. Had to trim the bed liner to make the Chevy connector fit, but I expected that.

by:

I’m glad I chose this over a single plug! No matter what you have on the hitch, you’ll have the plug for it. The pigtail is plenty long enough and the bracket makes for a simple installation. Get some shrink tube or shrink wrap butt connectors as the ones included aren’t going to keep weather out for long.

by:

Still working great at the 1 year mark. No issues. I did heat shrink all the connectors.

by:

From start to finish, this has been a great experience! I wrote a detailed email explaining my situation. Within 24 hours, I received a response with a link to the exact product I needed. Product was priced well with good shipping rates. Order was shipped out 2 days later and I received an email that it would get to my house on Tuesday, but the part showed up 3 days early!! It's almost like Christmas!!

I haven't yet had time to install the product, because I literally received it just one hour ago, but it's easy to tell that this is a super quality product. I was actually expecting a flimsy bracket that might have to be reinforced...not required. Very heavy duty bracket with self-tapping screws included along with wire connectors and of course the connector itself.

I am very happy with my purchase and if will follow up with pictures and more if I can.

Comments
Excellent! Simple install for most anyone with a basic understanding of wiring. Connector works as great today as when I first installed it shortly after posting my initial comments.

2006 GMC Sierra

Only gripe, the plug wiring on the back is at a 45° and the plug in on the front is at a 90°, so dont wire up the wires by the wiring plug but how the plug in on the front would plug in, I made the mistake, but other than that, works great, looks great, fixes botched wiring like my truck had with just twisted together and taped up wires, easy install

by:
2016 GMC Savana Van

Good product. A dust cover for the back of the plug in socket would have made the product excellent. The open area on the plug will catch water and dirt. Color coding of wiring was off, usage of my volt ohm meter confirmed all the wiring connections. Liked the wiring information molded into plastic covers.

Comments
When the wiring harness is plugged into the back of the trailer connector socket, there should not be an open space to allow dirt and water to get in. To make sure this connection stays free of dirt and grime, dielectric grease # 11755
Dielectric Grease for Electrical Connectors, 2 oz.
$7.15
can be used at the connection. It is always a great idea to test wires for function before making connections. I have linked a photo of these wires connected showing that the wire colors do not match the factory wire colors. It would be very rare that the colors did match by function.

Bracket is most likely 14 gauge (measured it) and should be easy to weld. Connector appears to be of reasonable quality, but time will tell if it holds up or not. No matter, welding the bracket to my rollpan will be the difficult part, not replacing the connector housing, should it fail. Hard to rate something I haven't used, so first impressions, I guess it's a five star.
