Installation

This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side tail lights. You will have to remove either the tail light assemblies or interior trim panels to access this harness.

T-One Connection Location Points Behind Tail Lights

Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed either in the jack storage compartment of your cargo area or beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure if you are mounting it near the hitch.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

Purchased a trailer wiring harness for my 03 Ranger at about 5 in the evening, received an email at 9 saying that it had shipped. Received my product about 2 days after the purchase. Great shipping time, and awesome customer service. I will definitely be using etrailer again!

The hitch was better than I could have imagined. It was easy to install, the installation parts were all there and the wiring was easy. I installed it in less than one hour and that included one beer during the installation

Pleasently pleased!I bought this product for future (1 month) installation in an used van that I purchased. I received the product in a fantastically short period of time. I am very impressed with the quality of the workmanship and materials. The .pdf instruction sheet is a definite plus.

by:
2000 Ford Van

OK, had to do some modifications to the install plan, quess this was because this van does not have a rear door molding strip, but again, well worth the cost for the harness, and was easy to install.

by:
2001 Ford Focus

The wiring harness was a cinch to install, it went in exactly as the instrutions said. I am very happy that I bought the pre-wired harness, there was no guess work and it took me about 40 minutes to install.

by:
2001 Ford Focus

The simplicity to this application in comparison to the old days of wiring a trailer is just incredible! Plug in and go, who'd have thought! Awesome product, speedy shipping and easy installation! Thank you.

by:
2001 Ford Explorer

this kit came extremely fast. I ordered on the weekend and had it in my hand by mid-week. although my vehicle was not named in the instructions specifically, it was still not hard to install. It took longer to route the wires under the plastic trim than anything else. My Ford is 10 years old so sometimes things don't always go right. but this kit worked perfectly. Took about 20 minutes. I highly recommend Etrailer.

by:
2000 Mercedes E-250

Product was easy to find on the website, good price, fast delivery and snapped right in. Actually I was just here to find a couple of receiver hitches that will fit Ford E250 vans and this wiring harness was recommended on the same page. Much better than my last hack-job trying to wire in trailer lights myself.

I am pleased.

1999 Ford F-150

I ordered a T-One Wiring Harness with 4 Pole Trailer Connector for a 1999 Ford F-150 late on a Friday. I received confirmation of my order and notice of shipment the same night. The wiring harness was received Monday and installed the same day. Two day turnaround on my order was fantastic. The instructions made installation easy. eTrailer.com knows what good customer service is all about. I will certainly recommend them in the future.

This trailer harness has performed perfectly over the past 12 months. I would definitely recommend it to others.

by:

Been a year and the lights are still working like a charm! I highly recommend this product!

I had put off wiring my van for a harness to go with my trailer because just the idea of running wires and tapping in to the right places, testing it all and sealing it back up was full of concern if I would get it right, how much time it would take, ... I was thinking just how frustrated I might become and so I put it off over and over again.

Then I found your site and your information. I looked up my vehicle and the part I needed. I called your number and spoke with a very helpful customer service representative. She looked up the instructions and even read part of it to me. She said the harness has two leads that just go between your tail lights and the wiring from your vehicle. They just plug right in.

I ordered the part with 2 day shipping and it came right on time. Installation was a snap. I was probably done in 15 to 20 minutes in all and the trailer lights work perfectly. The job I needed to do the next day was a breeze because I now had access to the trailer with confidence.

I even went to the store I bought my trailer from and told them about you all so they could tell other people.

Thanks for being so helpful and providing such a great product!

Paul

2002 Ford Ranger

I love it. Went all over town looking for help with the trailer light hook-up truck side for a 2002 Ford Ranger. I was told that the truck was factory pre-wired and there was nothing that could be done but follow the wires to find the problem and then fix the problem. Cost about $75.00. Called etrailer and they told me how to do the repair without the hassle. Ordered the part, fixed it in about an hour. Thanks etrailer. You saved me about $50.00. The harness was easy to use, just open up the lights and snap in the plugs.

  • 2001 Ford F-150 Trailer Hitch Needed with a 700 lbs Tongue Weight and Fits with Spare Tire
The Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver # 37130 is a Class IV trailer hitch with a 2" receiver opening that is confirmed to fit your 2001 Ford F-150 and will allow you to keep your full spare in it's current location. This has a 7,000 lbs Gross Towing Weight (GTW) rating and a 700 lbs Tongue Weight (TW) rating. When used in conjunction with a Weight Distribution (WD) system those ratings are bumped up to 12,000 lbs GTW and 1,200 lbs TW. I have attached the installation details for you to...

The 4-pole trailer wiring harness we offer for a 1995 Ford Van is part # 118344, however this particular wiring harness is designed to plug inline at the connection between the OEM tail light assembly and the manufacturers wiring harness. Unless your cutaway van chassis uses the OEM Ford van taillights, which is doubtful, this harness will not work for you. This harness will install to your factory wiring behind each of your tail lights. You will need to remove either the tail light assemblies...

  • Does A Brake Controller Wire Harness Need An Inline Fuse On The Brake Output Wire To The 7-Way
Hey Rick, The 7-Way connector # ETBC7 would need an inline fuse on the power wire running to the battery and the brake controller # 90885 would also have an inline fuse on it's power wire to the battery. The # ETBC7 comes with a 20a, 30a, and 40a circuit breaker for this purpose. If you're starting from scratch on your 2000 Ford Van then you'll want to first install the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118344 you were looking at. For that you would want the # 118344. From there you would need to convert the 4-way to a 7-way so that you can install the brake controller. For that you will want the Brake Controller Install Kit and 7-Way Adapter part # ETBC7. I attached installation instructions and an install video for this product...

The Curt Class IV 2 Inch Hitch # C14355 is listed to fit a 1997 to 2003 Ford F-150 and F-250 Light Duty. When the Super Duty line was released in 1999 the F-250 Light Duty became the 7700 package for the F-150 model. So the Curt hitch will fit your 2002 Ford F-150 known as the 7700 package. You might have to lower the spare tire to install the hitch, but you will not have to remove the spare tire. The hitch will not fit vehicles that have a 20 inch wheel and tire as a spare tire. • Trailer Brake Controller Recommendation for a 1997 Ford F-150 Towing a Travel Trailer
If your 1997 Ford F-150 came with a 7-Way wiring connector at the back from the factory then all of the wiring and everything needed is already on your truck so the installation will be pretty simple! I recommend using the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 # 90885 which connects to your truck wiring using the adapter # 3035-P. • Parts Needed to Install Tekonsha P2 Trailer Brake Controller on a 2000 Ford Ranger
The 2000 Ford Ranger does not have a plug or wire bundle under the dash to install a brake controller. You will need to hardwire in the controller. To do this you will need to first add a 4-Way trailer wiring harness, # 118344, unless you already have one. Then you would need a 4 and 7-Way installation kit # ETBC7. I have included some links that explain and show the installation of the ETBC7 kit. The video is on a 2002 Ford Ranger and it will be very similar on your truck.

If your existing 4-pole harness is a factory part that plugs in to an OEM connector like those on Tow Ready harness kit # 118242, you can have both harnesses active at the same time by daisy-chaining then together. If you have an aftermarket 4-pole harness that connects to the truck's taillight wiring then again both will still remain active since they connect to the truck independently of one another.

I did some research on your 2001 Excursion 4x4 and found the towing capacity for your vehicle with a 5.4L engine is 7,200 maximum trailer weight. That would be the weight of the trailer when it is fully-loaded and ready-to-tow. For your Excursion I recommend the Curt Class trailer Hitch, part # C14011. No, the trailer hitches will be different between the 2003 Ford Ranger and the 2004 Ford F-150. Both trucks have a different towing capacity, as well as a different mounting pattern up underneath the truck when installed. For the 2003 Ford Ranger I recommend the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e29AR because it has a matte black finish and we keep scratches and scuffs that you receive from towing less visible.
