Installation
This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side interior trim panels of your rear cargo area. Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the lead to the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery and insert the provided fuse.
Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed within the spare tire compartment of your rear cargo area.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.
A ModuLite power module is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. This power module functions as a tail light converter to combine the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.
With a ModuLite, your trailer's lights will be powered without overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Because the module draws power directly from your car's battery and bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

Quickly and easily install a 4-way trailer connector on your vehicle with this custom wiring harness. T-One connector plugs directly into existing wiring. Powered ModuLite reduces strain on wiring system. All of the wires were long enough for adequate routing. The video instructions were very helpful. I would like to have been supplied with either heat shrink butt connectors or heat shrink tubing for installation outside of the vehicle.
Wiring for the driver's side is about 3" too short, it's workable but close. The hitch went on very easily, about 20 minutes, and that was laying on the ground to install. I'm 70 years old and did it by myself. Great product.
The tester I26 made checking the wiring very easy.
Items arrived on time and I'm good condition. Very happy with my purchase.
We didn’t install it quite like they instructed (only the line to the trailer is outside the vehicle) but it works perfectly and was very easy to install.
Very easy installation and the on-lne video was very helpful.
Arrived today, looks as said ,will install when weather warms up,will follow the installation video from your site ,which is a great help, thanks again
Trailer light harness for 2018 Tuscon works great! I installed my own way and are pleased with results. Could not find harness anywhere else. NOT EVEN DEALERS! Thanks etrailer
it for sure was not easy and all the videos were saying a 2016 but for sure not my 2016 was not as stated . sorry but poor rating , what was the problem as the whole that was for pulling up the wires had wires in that rubber , where you say to pull up I could not even put in a finger but did get the 4 prong connector threw after I pulled off a bunch of plastic that broke as it was not made to come off I think . then the black box was too big threw the whole and as far as the rest iot did not go better POOR would take pics to show how I just taped it to the out side , also that self taping screw I had to drill a hole first as here you said to put just did not work in that area
I'm 70 years old and did the entire install myself other than running the power cable up to the battery from the rear bumper. I would have done that as well but couldn't fit under the vehicle without jacking it up. My local gas station did that for free in about 5 minutes. It went in easily. It is working fine. Very happy with the product. Would definitely recommend it to anyone.
The video regarding installation of this product was spot on and step by step, watched/rewound the video numerous times and thanks to it installed perfectly. Would recommend a better set up connecting to the battery, otherwise perfect!
It work great and easy to install. No longer have the vehicle I installed it in.
Really helpful having the video installs on the product page. The kit was very easy to install, the video instructions excellent, worked perfect. Took about an hour to do taking my time.
The [online] video made the whole project a breeze. Every step went as expected. Everything needed was included in the kit.
Fits as described but 2 sided tape for the control box lasted about 10 minutes. Stuck to the car. Fell off the box. Had to improvise. Otherwise, excellent
This is a good product but installation was not as easy as suggested. The wires leading to the Driver's side tailight should be longer. The printed instructions were not particularly clear, especially when finding the spot to mount the control box and in dealing with the rubber plug that goes through the body. The video was only helpful to a point because it shows mounting everything on the outside of the vehicle and this kit is designed to be mounted inside. I was able to make things work, but it took some imagination and over three hours.
The product is great - four stars because of installation. The installation is complicated and will take a long time to do well. So, I bailed out and paid a mechanic to do it. It took the mechanic 90 minutes - labor costs were about $150. Our purchase of the light kit, the hitch mount (we installed ourselves) and the mount and ball all totaled under $200 for our Hyundai Tuscon. The dealer price was $579. So I was all in for $350 ish with paying for the light kit installation, still two hundred less than having the dealer do it.
Instructions were garbage. You cannot run the power wire under the car. I ran my power line through the fire wall down the passenger side. I pulled up all of the paneling and crossed it behind my spare tire. Then I tried it in inside of the car instead of under. Also the method it says about running the passenger side T harness was also frustrating. This kit should come with loom to protect it from the sharp edges. It took 3 hours to run it. First 2 was trying to do it via instructions. Then the other 1 hour was pulling all the paneling. The yellow connectors it came with were trash and wouldn’t take a crimp. I used mine no problems.
When I opened up the shipping box that held both the trailer hitch and the wiring kit I wasn't really super impressed. The box with the wiring kit was already cut open and has a lot of damage from (what I'm assuming) was the staples that held the shipping box closed. None of the wires look damaged at all so that's a plus. Theres also a small but pretty decent gouge in the frame of the hitch. I'll just cover it up with some clear nail polish to keep it from rusting. Still excited to use it though.
This was clearly designed for my car (2012 Hyundai) as the wires were all the right lengths and the connectors snapped together easily and positively. The directions were surprisingly good. The only issue (a small one) was that the access hole they refer to was visible from under the car but not from the spare tire well as implied in the directions. It was easy to fish the wires through (a coat hanger or kids with small hands make it easy!) and into the trunk.
There was a delay in delivery, but I was contacted a couple of times to inform me of this and to assure me that it was soon to be on its way. I received it about two days later. Appreciated the note to let me know. The delay (about 5 days) was not an issue for me.
Highly recommended- both the product and etrailer.com.
I received the harness on time with three day shipping. It took about 1 1/2 hours to install. Any time I got confused, I watched your video. The directions are very good, but having the video for my vehicle made it a breeze!
The lights run off the car battery, instead of the existing wires, eliminating short circuits. 100% better than the $15 harness I was going to get.
The light plugs fit perfectly! NO SPLICING WIRES!
I highly recommend this harness!
Everything was ok with this till you try to reinstall tail lights, The T connectors are close to one another and need more length to drop extra plug down into body,
Extra connector stops tail light from mounting between body and light fixture,
Other than that it's ok.
If, AND ONLY IF, you follow the instructions and install this the way they say, it works fantastically. In my 2015 Hyundai Tucson, I first installed this with the connector mounted in an enclosure and attached to my hitch, creating a more factory look for the harness. In order to do this, I had to leave the converter box mounted underneath the vehicle (instead of inside). It worked great for about a month, at which point the box got wet enough that water caused the connections inside to arc and it melted the converter box.
Round 2, I followed the instructions and installed the box inside the car and pull the wire out through the back hatch when I need it. It's worked great for the last year without any issues. I highly recommend, but only if you follow the instructions! The installation video is your friend!
When my order arrived a day a part was missing I was taken care of immediately! Very satisfied with etrailer.
I installed this trailer wiring harness in my 2011 Hyandai Tucson this morning. The install went very well and my trailer lights work now. I was not sure I could do the job and was leaning to taking it to a shop and paying them to install a new wiring harness. After talking to Mike at etrailer he answered my questions and I decided to order and give it a go myself. The installation video on the 2012 Tucson was very clear and thorough and gave me the confidence I needed to start the job. Other than that my tail light assemblies took a lot more pulling to remove than in the video, it went just like the video. I like how the control unit is housed inside the car and not hanging in the rear fender like my old one where it was exposed to snow and road salt which eventually led to it failing. I am very pleased with the product, the price, delivery and the installation video. The only thing I did not use was the butt connector. I substituted a heat shrink butt connector as I think that is more weather proof and secure than a standard butt connector and electrical tape. I hope it lasts a long time. The installation videos are awesome.
I was very pleased with the product, it was easy to install, and it fit very well.
