T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector

Video Transcript for Install: T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector on a 2011 Nissan Frontier

Today on our 2011 Nissan Frontier we'll be installing the Tow Ready Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-pole flat connector, part number 118525. To begin our install we'll first need to go to the passenger side kick panel and remove the interior panel. To do this we'll need to remove the threshold first. To remove the threshold, we'll use a flat-blade screwdriver or interior trim panel tool to get underneath the threshold and pop the fasteners free. Next, we'll need to remove the kick panel. To remove the kick panel, we'll first remove the black cap nut. Then we'll release the fasteners underneath and set the kick panel aside.

Now we'll need to locate the manufacturer's 12-pin connector. This will be an open connection point. It is not plugged into anything else. We'll go ahead and cut the tape free and pull the connector out to where we can gain access to it. Then we'll take our new jumper and plug directly into the 12-pin port.

The other end of our jumper will be three relay connectors. Starting with the brown relay connector we can go ahead and install the brown relay. We'll match up the pins and firmly press the relay onto the connector locking it in place. Next we'll go ahead and repeat the same process with the two white connectors. These are identical relays and identical white connectors. Once we have them all plugged in, we're now going to go ahead and route the wiring harness and relays up behind the kick panel.

Note, when the relay makes direct contact with the sheet metal it can cause a vibration so we'll install the foam padding as necessary to prevent the vibration from happening. We'll go ahead a peel away the two-sided adhesive and install it behind the location where we can mount the relays. We'll go ahead and route the jumper and relays into position and reinstall the kick panel and threshold. Next we'll need to move to the rear of the vehicle on the driver's side frame rail. We'll locate the 4-pin port here with the weather cap connector. To remove the weather cap connector, we'll press in the locking tab and pry it out of the connection point.

Then we can take our new 4-pole harness plug directly into the manufacturer's connection point. For this application we'll also be using the Tow Ready 4-pole mounting bracket, part number 18144. With this bracket on this application using the self-tapping screws we can drill it directly into the bottom of the bumper. Now with our bracket mounted we'll go ahead and route the 4-pole over the hitch and to our bracket. Then we can secure our wiring and any excess wire to the back of the hitch using several zip ties. Now with the wiring secured we'll go ahead and cut off the excess from the zip ties to clean up our install look. With that, we've completed the install of our Tow Ready Custom Fit 4-Pole Wiring Harness, part number 118525 along with the Tow Ready 4-Pole Mounting Bracket, part number 18144 on our 2011 Nissan Frontier. .
