Installation
This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side tail lights. You will have to remove the rear threshold plate, privacy screen, storage covers, floor covering, and rear interior trim panels to access this harness.
Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the lead to the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery and insert the provided fuse.
Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed in your rear cargo area.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.
A ModuLite power module is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. This power module functions as a tail light converter to combine the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.
With a ModuLite, your trailer's lights will be powered without overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Because the module draws power directly from your car's battery and bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

Package arrived looking like it had been air-dropped, but the hitch only had a few scuffs on the paint, and the harness package was unharmed. I watched the [online] video a few times and read and reread the printed instructions. All were very helpful.
This wiring kit, was specifically for my car. Instructions were clear. All the parts were included, except for one bracket to mount the plug to the out side of the vehicle, which is not a big deal to me because if its on the outside it will get nasty and rust from the weather. The actual install was a total pain in the neck. Had to basically tear the whole back of the car apart, and take down the plastic panels that run the full length of the car on underneath. Total install for the wiring kit was nearly 2 hours!!! The person who did it for me was NOT happy. But it’s done. Good thing I only have to do it once. Have not used it yet, waiting on the tow receiver which was out of stock
Hitch and lighting kit installed fine, but the videos didn’t mention differences in the 2019 RAV 4 Hybrid from the non-hybrid. I wanted to let you know about those.
HITCH
Not sure if this is solely a hybrid issue, but there was what was either a shipping tie-down or tow point bracket that required permanent removal, as it was right in the way of the hitch cross member. It’s quite heavy duty. Comes off easily, requires removal of two bolts. Passengers side, mounted on the bottom of the frame rail. I have included a photo, but not while it was on the car, I was focused on the install. I managed the install by myself, no lift, required jacking up at the rear jack point on one side to be able to slip the hitch up behind the chrome exhaust tips, as the distance between them is less than the width of the hitch. Also, appears the foot activated rear hatch auto lift will not work with the hitch, which is what Toyota said, but not what e-trailer said when I sent in the question prior to purchase. It would not have made a difference in my decision to buy. See attached photo
WIRING KIT
Very pleasant surprise, the battery on the hybrid is in the rear, passengers side below the passenger side panel. Running the power cable is a breeze. The battery is accessed by two removable panels, but just as in the video, I felt more comfortable nearly removing the large side panel to access the light connector. Also, I have the premium stereo, which as a woofer in the drivers rear panel. This does not cause any problems, but is worth mentioning to potential installers so they don’t get worried.
Installation was fairly easy with some ramps and a floor Jack to hold in place.
Clearance is equal to lowest point on vehicle.
Very easy to install and has worked perfectly! I installed this wiring harness myself a year ago and have used it with my trailer over 40 times so far and it has been great!
Item delivered as promised. Installation was easy for one person with a floor jack and two adjustable jack stands after I watched a video. The electrical connection was also easy. Thank you.
Install video was super helpful, thank you! I found the right side wire to barely be long enough. Perhaps it was my routing or the factory JBL speaker box in the way, but another 10” would have been nice. My Hybrid has the battery in the back making easy hookup for the constant 12v+. Well thought out quality kit. The downside was that it comes in a standard poster board weight box and internal parts were not bagged together. This box was dropped inside the giant box with the hitch. The hitch wore three large holes in the big box and destroyed the converter box. My some miracle the converter, wire bundles, and small parts bag were still in the big box with the hitch and unharmed. Adding an internal bag, packing in a real box and shrink wrapping to the hitch would only take a minute and have much better results.
This is the second hitch (two different vehicles) I have purchased from etrailer. Installation was straightforward, sizing was perfect, and it works great.
Easy Peasy. Took me about 30 mins to install hitch on the new Rave Hybrid. Didn't even jack up the vehicle. Car was shiney new so exhaust hangers slid right off. Supported muffler w a stack of 2X4s. Removed access stickers and slid the hitch in place. Shimmed it up with more scrap 2x4 pieces. I have limited tools here at the winter house in Myrtle Beach, but 19mm box end got er done! Slid exhaust hangers back on, good to go. Wiring harness will have to wait a few weeks. Very happy, will use next week to drive to Dallas with Bike carrier on the back.
I of course I installed your 2" trailer hitch that fit perfectly. The wiring harness was easy to install and I elected to keep my flat trailer connector stored in the spare tire area. I could not be happier with these two products. Thank you.
Confirmed this fits a 2022 RAV4 Ltd. perfectly. Just remove the eye bracket on passenger side rear with 17mm socket on extension. Hitch is a bit clumsy to install by yourself due to weight and shape, i used my leg to hold up other side. My frame holes were protected with covers you just peel off. I had no need for a tap or a crows foot, there was plenty of room for a 19mm box end wrench on passenger side. I slid off the 3 rearward exhaust hangars by hand, plus one ahead of that detached too. Plenty of room to install. Slid all hangars back on by hand as well. Will do wiring tomorrow.
I installed the wiring kit in a 2021 RAV4 Prime. The installation video and instruction sheet were not completely correct for the Prime model where the 12V battery is actually in the rear near the right side tail light. The installation was actually simplified by not having to run a power wire up to the engine compartment.
The problem with the kit is the wire length is a little short for connecting the left and right side tail light wiring. Best I can tell, there's a connector mounting block in my car that increases the distance by about 10 inches. There was just enough slack in the wiring to route the wires under the plastic threshold, but they could not be properly stowed. This lack of length also led to a failure when reinstalling the tiedown screw causing sparks as the power wire was pinched. After repairing the wire, the installation worked okay. I'm still a little concerned about the durability of the wire routing.

Install was fairly easy and followed instructions, with my changes needed since prime model has battery located in rear of car. It's also very tight mounting the module behind the cargo side cover on the prime model, but I got it squeezed in there. Haven't hooked on a trailer yet to test the brake light function, however voltmeter shows taillight and turn signal functions work fine.

Hello, so far, all I've had done was putting on the receiver and installing the ball to the hitch. I will probably do the wiring this weekend. It lined up well, but it was hard installing the bolts on the passenger side. There is little room to get your hand up there and start the bolts. The driver's side was easy. I will send some picks later.

All went well during install and afterwards. Only recommend shortening the bolting abit to help address space restrictions for inserting bolt and tightening.
This does not fit the 2019 RAV4 Hybrid for plug in installation. I got it so that I didn't have to splice the wires but ended up needing to splice them anyways.
The hitch went on without a hitch (pun intended), except that it IS heavy and two elderly people putting it up needed help. Fortunately we have a motorcycle jack that fit under everything and held things up. The video was MOST EXCELLENT!
Now for the wiring harness! The video was EXTREMELY helpful. Without it I would have had WAAAAAAY more trouble getting into things. One error, though. I have a Toyota RAV4 HYBRID. In my 2020 RAV4 Hybrid, the 12 volt battery is on the passenger side rear compartment behind the rear wheel well. It would have made my job simpler in running the power cord if I had looked for the battery before I cut that grommet. Just an FYI for your installation tech and video star.
I installed an e-trailer hitch on a Subaru Forester years ago. That was actually more involved than this hitch on the RAV4. Toyota had all the bolts already in place. However, Subaru had a pre-wired towing plug, which was nice.
Over all, I would definitely buy from E-Trailer again and again!!!!!! DEFINITELY WATCH THE VIDEOS!
Everything fit well. It was well designed, it took awhile to install the electrical system, the video we're helpful.
The installation video for my make and model vehicle was a great help. It gave me the confidence to pull a little harder on the interior plastic side panels knowing they would not break. Wire harness connectors fit perfectly with existing connectors. My hybrid vehicle has the 12v battery located in the rear on passenger side. This made the power connection a breeze. I will recommend Etrailer to anyone looking for your type of products.
Everything went together easily enough. Getting behind the plastic on the sides of the hatch area is a challenge. The wiring to the connectors on the passenger side could be a bit longer. My 21 Rav4 Prime has the 12volt battery in the rear passenger side so power was very easy.
The hitch went up very easy and fit just right after removing the stock tow hook.
Shipping issues. Arrived late on the 24th. According to UPS tracking, the package sat in [city] IA for several days. The package was badly damaged. Have yet to inspect the contents.
Package came with a couple of the washers and bolts missing. I called the customer service line and they shipped a new set out in no time. Hitch fits perfectly. Very happy with everything
I have not installed my product yet, but have purchased a few things for me trailer in the past. I have always been 100% satisfied with their products and service and educational videos.
