Installation
This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located in your trunk. You will have to remove the felt trunk liner to access this harness.
Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the lead to the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery and insert the provided fuse.
Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed within your trunk.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.
A ModuLite power module is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. This power module functions as a tail light converter to combine the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.
With a ModuLite, your trailer's lights will be powered without overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Because the module draws power directly from your car's battery and bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

Hi everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look at this T-One vehicle wiring harness with four-pole flat trailer connector. Now this harness is designed to fit your 2019 and newer Kia Forte and your 2020 and newer Kia Forte, excluding the GT models. On custom fit parts, such as this harness, I do recommend taking advantage of our vehicle fit guide. Simply input the year, make and model of your vehicle and our fit guide will confirm if this harness will work for you or if we have another harness that will work for you.
So this harness is going to give you a four pole flat trailer connector at the back of your vehicle to power your trailer signal lights. This is going to be compatible with five pole, six pole and seven pole adapters, and those adapters are sold separately. As you notice here, we do have a dust cap that's included here for the four pole flat connector. And what I really like about Tekonsha's wiring harnesses is they typically tether the cap to the plug housing. So that's going to ensure that you're not going to lose that cap and that dust cap of course, is going to cover up those connection points when this plug is not in use.
The black box on this harness is a Modulite power module. The Modulite is going to ensure that your vehicle's wiring matches out of your trailer. It does connect directly to your vehicle's battery to avoid overloading its electrical system, reducing strain on your vehicle's wiring. This will not affect how the taillights on your vehicle operate. Now this harness is designed to connect quickly and easily.
What's nice about a harness like this is you're not gonna have to worry about splicing wires. There's not gonna be any alterations to the wiring of your vehicle, which could possibly lead to damage or maybe even voiding warranties. These custom fit, T-One connectors are going to plug into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located in your trunk. You will have to remove the felt trunk liner to access the harness. And these T connectors are custom fitted for your vehicle.
So they're gonna match up perfectly with the connection points on your vehicle. They're gonna snap and lock together for a tight, secure fit. Now once you have these plugged in, you will need to make a ground connection. The ground wire is this white wire and it has a ring terminal attached to it. And it does come with a self-tapping screw that you can see right there. So you can get this grounded to a suitable location, such as your vehicle's frame or cross member. You just wanna make sure that the surface is clean and rust free. Next, you will need to mount the Modulite box to a safe, out of the way location. You can do that with another mounting screw that you might have on hand, or you can use the included double-sided adhesive tape or maybe even one of the many cable ties that's included with this kit. Next, you will need to run the hot lead to your vehicle's battery. That's this short, black wire that's coming out of the Modulite box. This short, black wire is going to get connected to one end of this included bundle of black wire using one of the included butt connectors. And then the other end of this bundle is going to get routed to your vehicle's battery. And once you have this routed to the battery, you're gonna take this fuse holder and then you're gonna cut that yellow wire in half and connect one of the wires with the second butt connector to the routed end of this bundle of black wire. And then the other wire is going to get that ring terminal attached to it. And that ring terminal is going to attach to the positive post of your vehicle's battery. This does come with a 15 amp fuse, and so you're just going to take that fuse and pop it into the fuse holder here. And then, as you can see, it does have a cap to keep that fuse safe and protected. You are going to be able to secure any slack or excess in your wiring with the cable ties that's included with this kit. Instructions are included to guide you through that installation process. And then once installation is complete, the four way flat connector will get stored in your trunk. This harness is constructed of 16 gauge bonded wire. And one final note. It is recommended that you use a small amount of dielectric grease on all of your electrical connections, like the plugs on your vehicle and the four pole flat connector itself. That grease is designed to help prevent electrical failures caused by corrosion and moisture. So on your screen, I am including our item number for that grease. You can just take that item number and pop it in the search field of our website. That will take you to that grease and you can add that to your order. Well, that's gonna wrap up our look today. I do hope that it was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy, thank you for joining me.
