As requested, here are some pics of my e-track installation. I find the raised e-tracks in the floor very problematic and dangerous so I made sure they were recessed. This is now an extremely versatile cargo trailer.

Rob H.

Do you have installation instructions for the recessed mounting?

Patrick B.

I wondered the same thing when we first got his review. He mounted the e-track, then cut aditional pieces of plywood to fit between the e-tracks.

Here are some photos of my 20’ trailer that I installed Horizontal E-track and use Hd 6k E-track D-rings

How do you attach you car? Straps on frame, wheel bonnets?

Etrailer Expert

Rachael H.

If you look closely on the first photo you can see a yellow strap peeking out right behind the tool box, and at the tail end of the trailer. Andrew also mentioned that he used some heavy duty 6K E-Track D-Rings part # 59147.

Here's some pictures of the E-Tracks installed on my utility trailer. I've installed them side to side so the load is carried by all the boards avoiding pull-up on a single board. The front and rear E-Track flange fits tightly under the steel flange of the trailer. I've secured the E-Tracks with lag bolts on the ends and middle for maximum pull-up resistance. The fasteners between the lag bolts are galvanized structural self tapping screws which have been wet set in the timber decking with gorilla glue for added strength. The dogs name is Cotton and he rates the E-Track cargo securing system as 5 Stars.

Laura E.

Thanks, Dave and Cotton!

What can you say? Etrack is the industry standard for strength, ease of installation and mounting adaptability imo. We use etrack in all our trailers and wouldn't even think of owning a trailer without it. did a great job delivering our etrack (and other products) and customer service has been phenomenal in every aspect of the word. Highly recommended:-)

Craig B.

Off topic but what paint did you use inside your enclosed trailer? And, are you all using the backing plate underneath your trailers? If so... how long of bolts would I need to go through to mount the backing plate? Thanks in advance for any info!

The Erickson E-Track system has to be hands down the best tie-down solution. Use this in conjunction with the Basket Straps and you have a Worry Free Solution. We use it to tie-down our UTV/SXS and we can be assured that the machine will not move and the straps are as tight when we arrive as they were when we left. The confidence in this system makes the trip experience even better knowing you don't have to keep checking. We will put this on any trailer we purchase. You won't be disappointed in this. Be sure to use the E-Track Tie Down Rings!!!

My installation used two 5' and two 2' sections. Along with two 4-slot pieces.
I removed the trailer bed planks and used my table saw to dado the spaces so the e-tracks are flush with the trailer bed. I used the backing plates (BPEZ) to secure the tracks.

Probably overkill, but I put a 5-ft section on each side of our Aluma TK1 trike trailer. I also used 2 sections on the underside as a backing plate, since they come predrilled. The underside tracks will also come in handy if I ever have to carry a ton of plywood. I am pretty sure we will never overload the 6-k load limit on these babies.
etrailer online purchasing was simple, they shipped quickly, and the box was well-packed.

I recently purchased a 2012 Haulmark 6' x 12' cargo trailer.I knew I would need to have some type of interior system for fastening items. I originally was considering recessed tie rings, but when I located your web site I realized that the etrack was a superior method for securing loads. I researched several sources but ultimately decided to purchase from your company due to the clear and concise advice I found your web site. The installation video was also helpful. I also found the shipping incentive to factor into my decision. Items arrived very quickly and in good condition. Installation went smoothly and I was done in less than two hours.

Excellent product. Shipped in perfect state with no scratches or chips. I didn't expect the galvanized track to look as good as it does. If using to tie-down heavier items, be sure to order backing plates to add strength and rigidity.

We use the E-Track for our race car trailer - it is strong enough to mount tire racks and hold loose items in place while on the road . . . excellent product

I bought two 5 foot sections of E-Track for a new cargo trailer. Installation was easy and straightforward. The product works great. It allows me to tie-in my musical equipment and keep it from sliding around in transit. It has really been a great addition to my new trailer!

proper galvanized coating

Love my little trailer! I am a 67-year-old woman who Just drove it 8,000 miles on the Splash Trash Tour to Florida and it performed great. It was easy to pull and easy to see around. Backing up takes a little learning since the leverage is so small. Smaller trailers are harder to back up than the larger ones I was used to, but a few tries in a parking lot and you'll get it!

Price was best online with free shipping. All the E Track I ordered came UPS in perfect condition. I was able to set up my cargo trailer exactly like I need it!

System works great. I use it to tie down 2 dirt bikes and a quad in my enclosed trailer. It was easy to install. I put it on the floor as opposed to the wall simply because of my plans to install some other equipment on the walls.

It's a great system to secure whatever you need secured.

Received on time and parts worked great for my trailer. Will Post another photo with the straps on the UTV.

I have Erickson E-Track on all my ATV trailers. The product allows you to have a tie-down capability virtually anywhere on the floor of your trailer, or on enclosed trailers, many folks also install it on the walls to secure items. The E-Track material is very, very strong. Although over the years I've hit many potholes, dips in the road and other obstacles that have dislodged my tie-down straps from their anchors, but I've never had any E-track rail or tie-down come lose, stretch, bend, crack or other condition. It's a quality product that is made to last a lifetime! That's why I just ordered a another set for my newest trailer.

Thanks for the follow-up. All the products I purchased are performingwonderfully!

The E-track worked out well in our car hauler and love it since we don't have to put a strain on the suspension anymore. My wife helps me put the straps over the tires and then they lock in place. Nice set-up and a friend in the landscaping business like it also.

Mike S.

Works great. So glad I put it in the trailer and a worth while product.

I love these E tracks. I installed them on the floor and walls of my work trailer to stabilize equipment and materials while transporting. I highly recommend this product and E-Trailer for their great customer service, and informative installation videos!

Art S.

Still working great even after a year long heavy use.

Strong and cost effective

E-Tracks we’re easy to install and greatly facilitated our move from Wa. to Az.

As advertised! Good product!

Fred E.

How did you attach the horizontal E-Track to the sides of the trailer?Did you just attack to the metal studs? Did you bolt all the way thru the side walls?

Great Product, Erickson Horizontal E-track - 5 Ft Long, order along with 8' sections to go the length of my car hauler. Great service, fast delivery.

Jeff. F.

The straps and e-track worked great. I installed them in a 28 enclosed trailer to haul my show cars.

My straps and rings pull out of this track!!!! Save your money and buy Kinedyne instead, your tie down hardware will fit tighter and not pull out. The e track here has 1/8 more clearance for the track accessories and wouldn't even hold down my Polaris Razor. I ave bought my share of parts from etrailer and have never had a quality issue until I bought this etrack (Erickson). etrailer if your listening buy a stick of Kinedyne and compare it to Erickson. I think you would agree after a side by side comparison of which is better.

  • Can E-Tracks Attach to Dovetail of Trailer
E-track is not flexible to be bent around a dovetail like you have. You'd have to trim the track at the angle change and attach it in flat sections across the dovetail.

  • E-Track for 2017 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2500
We do have e-track available and you could add the Erickson Horizontal E-Track if you are comfortable bolting it into your 2017 Mercedes Sprinter 2500. We do not have any that measure 14' long so I recommend instead using 6 of the 5' long Erickson Horizontal E-Track # E19148 to get a pair of 15' tracks which you can cut down to 14'. I've added links to video reviews of this track as well as a link to each of our available e-track systems for you to check out.

  • Recessed E-Track Installation on Walls of an Enclosed Cargo Trailer
Installing the E-Track system to your enclosed trailers upright frame is a good idea for the strongest mounting location and cutting the plywood out to fit around the E-Track would not be an issue that I can see as long as the plywood sides have enough mounting locations left to secure it safely in the trailer and the Accessories for the E-Track can be installed in the track. As far as how much the stress the trailer frame can handle, you would need to contact your trailer manufacturer...

  • Could E-Track Mount on Cargo Trailer Door
You can put e-track like the pat # E19148 basically anywhere you can securely attach it. If you wanted to put it on a trailer door you certainly could. In the review video I attached you can see e-track mounted on several surfaces of the interior of a trailer.

  • Finding Hardware for Securing E-Track to Aluminum Trailer
Securing the e-track to the frame of your trailer would be the most secure way to install the # E19148. Going with appropriate sized nuts and bolts would be your best option. Picking that out would have to be based on your trailer setup as we don't have a way to tell you exactly what you'd need since there are many variations in how trailers are put together.

  • What Type of Hardware Should be Used to Attach E-Track to Plywood Trailer Walls
For plywood walls you would need wood screws to secure the E-track # E19148 to the walls. That is if you attach the track to only the wooden walls. If you secure any of the E-track to the metal support frames then you would need machine screws for the metal type used on the trailer. The mounting holes in the E-tracks are 1/4 inch in diameter so using 3/16 inch hardware of the appropriate length would be the way to go.

  • Can the Erickson E-Track # E19148 be Installed on an Aluminum Open Car Hauler
In all honesty, if you are wanting to install E-Track like part # E19148 on an aluminum trailer that is going to be something that your trailer manufacturer makes the call on. Since they designed the trailer they know what it is capable of. They would also be the ones to make the call on what equipment to use and where to mount it. You do need to be careful what type of screws you use as steel and aluminum don't mix very well.

  • What Is The Recommendation For Welding Erickson E-Track System
The typical installation of the Erickson Horizontal E-Track, part # E19148 is by installing bolts or screws through the mounting holes on the track system. It can be welded, but specific precautions should be used when doing so as this is a zinc-coated steel and welding produces dangerous fumes. It should always be done in a ventilated area. In my research I found that the zinc coating has a lower melting point at 1,600 degrees F versus steel at 2,800 degrees F, and if not removed before...

  • How to Pick the Height for Installing E-Track on a Trailer Wall
The height of where you install the E-track will depend greatly on where it will work best for the cargo you plan to tow. Most people put it around half way up or lower. But once again that will just depend on where it will work the best for you. You might take the sections out into the trailer with the cargo you plan to carry and see where it would work the best.

  • Installing E-Track on 1 Inch Thick Wood Floored Trailer
A 1 inch think wood floor should be sufficient. I would use 3/4 long wood screws to provide some more gripping threads. I would use screws at least every other hole if not every hole, starting from the center and working to the ends to ensure the track lays flat. Use enough tension from the straps to hold the bikes securely, but do not over-tension them as you might blow our your fork seals.

  • Do Horizontal E Track Installs Require Recessed Mounting
You would not need to recess the installation of the E-Track Trailer Cargo Control # E19148 to mount it horizontally. If you really wanted to you could, but it definitely wouldn't be required and people install these without it all the time. I attached a picture of an E track system installed horizontally on a trailer without them having to be recess mounted.

  • Can E-Track be Flush or Recess Mounted Instead of Surface Mounted
There aren't specific instructions for flush mounting E-track such as # E19148 but as long as the openings on top are clear and there is space enough below the holes to insert/remove accessories then it can be flush mounted or recessed some. It is pretty versatile stuff.

  • Will Erickson E-Track Cause Wood Rot on Trailer Boards
We haven't gotten any feedback on the Erickson Horizontal E-Track # E19148 that it causes wood rot. In general the water would drain between the boards or out the ends of the track pretty easily. These tracks wouldn't cause wood rot at a quicker rate that normal for treated boards.

  • Can E Tracks Have Accessories that Pull to the Sides
In order to achieve the full capacity of the etrack the direction of pull should be parallel to the direction that the etrack is running. How much the capacity would be diminished by pulling 90 degrees to the side will depend a lot on the weight of the load. If the weight is close to the capacity you would run the risk of damaging the clips of the attachments used.

  • How Does the E-Track System Install to a Trailer
The E-Track Trailer Cargo Control # E19148 can be secure by screws, rivets, or welding. If you went with screws to install this you would need to base the size of the screw on how thick the wood is you are attaching the track to. For example, if your trailer had 3/4 inch thick plywood you would want to use a 1/2 inch long wood screw. I would recommend using every other hole of the track for installing the tracks. That plywood is almost too thin to mount to and you will want to make sure you don't puncture the exterior wall with your screws. You are correct. As you can see in the attached pictures you want to keep the tie down in the E-Track # E19148 in the same direction. The only time that you can really get away with using the strap to secure something that is not in line with the E-Track is when it is used in conjunction with E-Tracks and straps going the other way. I did some research online to find out what metals when in contact with each other promote corrosion.
