This roller idler can be very helpful when you're securing your car to your trailer with a ratchet strap. Without the roller idler, the ratchet would be located under your car where there often isn't enough space to comfortably tighten down the strap. And if you ran the strap out from under your car to better operate the ratchet, then the strap would rub against your bumper. The roller idler allows you to move the ratchet out from under your vehicle so that you can easily tighten the strap, and it prevents the strap from rubbing against your bumper.

I do not use these frequently, but they are handy when needed. Positive attachment to tracks.
great for odd items that you need to tie down
Used this product to shorten a ratchet strap and provide the correct angle of pull. Couldn't be happier.

When you are new to E-track you get the tracks, the tie down rings & tie off straps and of coarse the tie down straps. But you may over look this idler roller tie off. You find that certain cargo is too low making difficult to use tie off straps. This forces you to strap more horizontally which doesn't allow sufficient down force. I found this out when transporting a 72" mower deck. Now I can place a couple of these idler under each mower arm and use only 1 tie off strap (instead of 4) . This allows for direct vertical force plus you don't have to worry about scratching the paint with hooks.
I have e-track on my car trailer deck, mostly to provide handy points for strapping on random stuff like furniture. I got these for that purpose, unfortunately this isn't handy for hooks or straps. I sometimes use the ones with the loops, or mostly strap straight into the e-track.
This product is well made and the idea is great when you have limited space and need to secure cargo but have no room for the ratchet. However, wider 2 & 3” straps work best where 1” straps tend to seek one side or the other of the device and potentially could be damaged.. The roller reduces resistance allowing more tightening of your straps and giving you valuable room as well to operate the ratchet in close quarters situations. A bit pricey but one of those tools you’ll come to appreciate if you haul atv’s or cars.

I was just using my trailer today and realized what a great investment these e-tracks are. Yeah, they're expensive, but ya just can't beat the versatility of being able to lock something down anywhere you want.
Yes I did receive the order and it was exactly what I needed. I installed the etrack on my trailer and hauled my bike to Florida. It worked great and I didn’t have to worry about the tie downs coming loose.

Great accessory for E-track! Allows me to lock down my UTV tires with little to no effort and takes out the hassle of adjusting the straps to odd angles.
Works great, holds full tension on the strap. Perfect for tying down my Mini Cooper S. I use this to transition the strap over the tire, the clamp the free end to the Etrack I got for here also. ETrailer always delivers, my order was shipped quickly, and correctly.
Works great with other E-Track products purchased through etrailer. I'm using it on a strap to hold the wheels of my Ariel Atom to the trailer floor.

This is a very well built product that has help secured many items in my trailer. From ATV's, ladders and generators just to name a few.
Comparing the Erickson Roller Idler to a different brand being sold by a local trailer dealer: These appear to be equal in quality (and I'll trust my cars' safety to them) and lower in price, including shipping charges.

Excellent quality, fits track rail system correctly, no issues.
The product broke and the car came loose on the trailer the very first time we used it.
Works great with my side x side and my Spyder, straps over tires with no suspension compression.
Haven't tried them yet but they certainly appear to be a quality product which I will enjoy using and displaying on my car trailer.

Excellent product idea. A little concerned with how they fit in the track. If pulled toward the latch side, the other side barely stays in the slot. Going to try to make sure I only pull them the other way.
I had one fail, but all the other ones I ordered are fine. good and solid. The one that failed had the capped end inside the U shaped piece pop off resulting a separation of the two sections. It appeared to be a bad weld on that one.

Works fine a year later. This has a unique capability for tying down cargo and is part of my tie down tool box.
