Hello, neighbors. Steven here with etrailer.com. Folks, today we're taking a look today at an Erickson ATV series winch with a wire rope and the included roller fairlead rated 1,500 pounds. So folks, this is gonna be great for the Powersports ATV recovery. It's gonna be designed for that recreation and standard duty work applications. Just a small everyday simple ATV use winch.
Perfect for like 300 to 500cc sport quads and four by fours. It is recommended for ATVs with a max gross vehicle weight of 750 pounds. It has a nice one horsepower motor, which is a permanent magnet motor, so that's gonna deliver a powerful fast and safe line pulling. And that motor is much lighter and uses less current than say a series wound motor. So again, super light, not too much weight to it at all.
Very, very simple. Very simple to install like an ATV quad or something like that. And that motor has been sealed to keep out water and prevent internal corrosion and all the contactors and all that stuff that transmits power from the vehicle's battery to the winch motor is sealed as well. Now this would typically mount under the ATV's front cover or hood, if it has a hood, and they give you include a hardware to mount that and to mount the fairlead there with the rollers and everything. It is what's considered an automatic mechanical brake that's gonna hold a hundred percent of the load while minimizing winch creep.
It's made of all steel. It's a one-stage planetary gear train that provides the proper drum speed needed. It does give you a wired remote, so in or out, and then you wire that up accordingly to the battery and then to the winch itself. All the instructions that come with it, you got a hook with a lead here on it included. And of course, so with any winch out there, you can do a manual pullout and those kind of things to freewheel, meaning just kind of pull the cable out versus using the motor to back it out for long pulls.
Now the rope on it, or a wire I should say, is a 5/32 inch thick diameter zine-plated wire rope. It's strong, abrasive resistant and they give you 50 feet of that, and that's made out of aircraft-grade galvanized steel cable. Again, that clevis hook there is a 1/4 inch thick steel and it has a nylon hand-saver strap for pulling that out. And again, the roller fairlead here, header, all those rollers are all nice heavy-duty steel as well with a nice clear anodized finish. Now like I said, they give you the nine hardware and stuff. As far as mounting the winch, it's a two bolt mounting pattern. So center to center on those two bolts, I got 3 1/8 inches. Now as far as some overall dimensions on the winch. End to end, I got 11 1/4 long, 4 1/4 inches tall. And on a width, I got right at 3 7/8 inches wide. Now the whole thing here is lightweight, about 14 pounds, give or take. And it is recommended with a 650 cold cranking amp battery size. And it obviously runs on 12 volts power. Now if you're interested, the gear ratio is a 103 to 1 and the line speed is 3 5/16 foot per minute. So almost four foot per minute, but not quite. Well folks, that's gonna wrap it up for our quick look at this Erickson ATV winch. I'm Steven, thanks for watching.
