Is this right For you? Product Expert Kathleen M says:
Yes, if you:
Have a third brake light camera to see the color-coded latch indicators so you don't have to get in and out of your truck when hooking up
Go down washboard roads to get to your favorite campgrounds and need a little extra shock absorption to keep from feeling every bump
No, if you:
Have a trailer with a rotating pin box, such as the Reese Sidewinder, Reese Revolution, or 5th Airborne Sidewinder
Have raised side rails - since this hitch sits low in the bed, it might not give you enough space for your trailer to clear
Would rather have an American-made hitch

Couldn't give it anymore stars after I took the hitch out of the box and it was all scratched up. Always good when you spend xxx on a hitch to receive it in that condition1244226
I bought a new trailer recently that weighs 16k and I just didn't feel secure using my Reese pro series 16k to Haul with. So I started looking at various hitches. I've had 3 other fifth wheel hitches in the past. All of them have been 15 and 16k models. What I never liked was the latching system. I've even had a trailer come out of the hitch due to a poor latching hook up. There wasn't an good way to lock the hitch. Some of it was my fault and some was a poor design. When I saw the Curt Q20 had a latch on the handle and also was color coded I was hooked. This hitch satisfied my want list. It arrived 4 days after I ordered it and like other comments I've read it was full of heavy duty staples. It was double packaged. There had to be over 50 staples. It was defiantly packaged securely. After dimantaling the packing I finally got to the hitch. There were a few scratches on the hitch from all the staples but a bit of black touch up paint took care of that. After all the hitch is going to be used and get scrached by me anyways. Four bolts and it was together. It fit perfictly it my existing rails. By the way it's heavier than my other hitches. I wound be apprehensive to pull my new trailer. If your looking for a great hitch at a great price you can't go wrong. 344415
Unlike other reviews...I will say that my packages all arrived in perfect condition. (Boxes were all intact). Assembling the Q20 is a breeze and by all appearances this hitch certainly seems to be more than adequate for my needs. I haven't had a chance to actually use it yet...but from what I can tell, I certainly don't expect any issues. I like the way the hitch latches and unlatches, and that you can add a lock to prevent someone from opening the jaws while you are parked somewhere. I think the only thing I'll add is a lock in place of one of the pins...just to make it difficult for someone to remove and steal the hitch. 289612
A year later...and everything still works like a charm. Ive had zero issues with this Q20 Hitch!

I am very happy with the Curt Q20.The box it came in took a beating but all the pcs. came as promised. I would advise you to have help lifting it in to your truck bed. I have only pulled one time so far but the hook up, travel and unhooking went well. I am looking forward to many trips. Thank you979305

I have had the hitch a year and it has been great. It’s still heavy and rock solid. I couldn’t be happier.

Got my 5th wheel double boxed and in good shape. Took 2hrs to install outboard base rail kit. Everything finger tight. This Morning it took me 2hrs to drill the 4 center holes, I put 2 in the center on each rail, remove spare tire and torque everything down and replace spare tire. The outboard base rail kit was a snap to install and I love the Curt Q20 with no floppy 5th wheel plate.467075
I've had trouble hooking up to my 5th wheel trailer, up, down or a little to either side1284529

Great hitch. Used several times. Love the way it comes apart into two pieces for ease of carrying when taking it out and putting it back in. Locks the trailer in tight too. Gets my trailer to were I want to with no problems. 388350
Much more secure and tighter than my old hitch. Easy to secure and you can remove it quite easy by separating the top hitch from the bottom frame! Works great with my 16000 # Solitude and my F350 dually!1280658

I have just used the hitch on some very short pulls, nothing long yet. However, I can tell it is much quitter and does not seem to chuck as much as my old hitch. Appears to be very well built. Heavier than the old 15K hitch I had before. The only down I can find right now is that there is not a good place to hook up the emergency stop brake cable. I was able to rig up a connector that works just fine.428791
This hitch is really quiet and smooth. No more chucking like my old Reese hitch. I cannot believe the increase of price however, over the past year. Paid less than $500 a year ago. Made the purchase fairly reasonable to purchase at the time.

Bought the Q20 Curt hitch to replace the 16,000# Curt hitch we used for our previous 5th wheel trailer. The new trailer is heavier, so I wanted to upgrade. I like the Curt products and wanted to continue with them. The dual locking jaws were the real selling point. etrailer and Lisa D are a joy to work with. We had a problem with another product and Lisa handled it perfectly and professionally.483163

Excellent. Since going full time RV living in 2009 we have had 5 fith wheel hitches. The last 2 have been Curt, both purchased from e-trailer. The Q20 is without a doubt the best. Great peace of mind investment. 5*****

Great hitch, I upgraded to this from z cheap used one I found on Craigslist. What a huge difference. I was not comfortable hauling my trailer with that used hitch. This new hitch is the complete opposite. It is very durable and well constructed. I now have the confidence that I was missing. The 360 degree swivel on the 5th wheel plate greatly reduced alot of noise from the hitch. Much safer at the different angles the truck has while towing.956133

I placed my order on Tuesday evening and it arrived early Friday. Very fast shipping!!! The hitch installed easily using etrailer custom rail kit. Hitch itself seems way to use. Can't wait to pickup new camper next week! Thank you etrailer for such awesome service!!!455066
Just got back from a two-week road trip out west, the new trailer hitch performed without a snag! Easy docking and undocking, very nice to have a nice smooth ride. We are very impressed and thankful for an excellent product. The package in which the hitch arrived was in pretty rough shape, but all the pieces arrived. There is one place on the deck itself where it took some scuffing of the paint from whatever it was banged on during shipping. We are going to have to touch up that place to keep it from rusting in the elements.
All in all, this was a great buy. Thanks574834

I had a 16K Husky 5th wheel hitch for 12 years. It came with the RV purchase. We upgraded to a larger 5th wheel in 2015. I pulled it with the K16 but due to wear on the hitch I didn't feel comfortable. I searched the internet and came upon etrailer.com. I began researching different hitches. I settled on Curt due to it's reviews. I placed an order with etrailer and the next day I got an email with all of the shipping and tracking information. I had the hitch in 5 days. I was very disappointed when it was delivered. The shipping box was very light duty and had been reinforced with pieces of cardboard damaged. There was also a lot of heavy duty staples holding it together.
I took photos upon delivery. After I opened the box I found the hitch was damaged. I immediately sent an email with photos of the box as received and the damage to the hitch. I called customer service and talked to Gina and Janice and went over the details. I was given instructions for returning the hitch and was emailed necessary papers to ship it back at no charge. I dropped it off at UPS the same day and received notification in 3 days that it was received. I was also advised a new hitch would be sent out and I received it in 3 days. At first I was very upset but after. That quickly changed after talking to the staff and receiving the new hitch within 5 days. These type things sometimes happen. I give the staff at etrailer.com an applause for their quick handling of this issue.
I have since made another purchase. Give them a try. 275867

After I bought my new camper the search was on for a better hitch. I previously owned a little rocker 15k with the slide bar style locking mechanism. It worked well but with the bigger camper I wanted something that would eliminate the chucking in the hitch that I was getting. After looking at a lot of other hitches and comparing price vs. features I settled on this hitch. The box it was shipped in was pretty beat up when it got to my house but I kinda expected that. The hitch survived the journey without a scratch. Its built very heavy, but not so heavy that I cant remove it my truck by myself. The fitment between all the components seems good without a lot of slop. After setting the height I hitched up to the camper and took her for a test run. I am very happy with the results so far. The only place that I get any movement is where the hitch connects to the rails but I plan on purchasing the felt pads to eliminate that in the future. The indicators on the release bar are very nice, its nice to have a visual indication and know the jaws are locked. Even after a year of use i still can't find anything to really complain about. If anyone is looking for a solid hitch that won't break the bank I would strongly recommend this one.607787

I just finished installing the bed rails yesterday (bear cat) on my 2017 Chevy Silverado 3500HD and installed the Curt (C16130) hitch. I've not towed or hauled any trailers with it yet so I don't know how it will perform. I previously used a Husky (15K) hitch which I really liked. The Husky was getting old and showing signs of wear and I didn't like the clanks and squeaks. The Curt hitch went in easily though it a fewer height adjustments.....height adjustment holes are two inches apart versus 1.5 inches on the Husky. It is a stout (and heavy) hitch. I frequently put my hitch in an out and the Husky could easily be broken down into two parts....reducing the weight. The Curt appears difficult (at least so far) to break down into two parts. I did it twice and had to use a crow bar to separate the head from the legs. It's way too heavy to handle in one piece....as are most fifth wheel hitches. Maybe it loosens up after use and comes apart easier.....I hope. I assume it will provide great service and eliminate the noise and chucking and had with my old hitch.422859

We purchases this fifth wheel hitch because it was a better price than the competition. And we are not disappointed. After using it for over a year to pull out 16,000 plus camper, there have been no issues. It's super easy to use. We would definitely recommend!1094450

This hitch is a great product. It came by UPS well packaged— not torn. Our 5th Wheel hitched so easily . It fit perfectly on the Reese rails that was already on the truck bed. Great instructions— easy to assemble (4 bolts). I love the professional people this company has. Thank you etrailer.509080

While I was researching my hitch, I talked to etrailer a couple of times. They helped me make the decision that was most cost effective for me. I will be keeping this hitch for as long as I have a camper. That said I did not need something compatible for a change in the future. I was able to get a heavier duty hitch for less. My representative was great. It was not all perfect. The shipping people made a mess but etrailer stood behind the products they sell and made it right. I have ordered in the past and recommended them to others. In all my orders and orders of friends they do service right. 484658

I love the 5th wheel hitch it is everything you said it would be and them more. Pro's and Con's about the item. Con: To get it out of the box took an hour as you used 4000 staples to hold it together ! back off the staples a bit ! Pro: It was well packaged and weighted about a ton ! Con: Tell people up front you need more then one person to pick it up specially if you had had a 6 bypass ! Pro: As heavy as it is no one will steal it out of the back of the truck ! Took time to figure out how to assemble it but got it done took about 30 to 45 minutes. Even though I went through all that It is amazing and I am so happy I choose Curt Q20 for my towing needs.

I've installed the hitch using the kit made for Ford F350- the process took about the time indicated on the website (4hours) by myself and went without a hitch (pun intended). I've hooked up to the fifth wheel but haven't pulled it anywhere yet. So far I like the Curt hitch but most impressed with the installation guide for the rail kit AND everything about etrailer.com!764499

I ordered the hitch on a Sunday evening of a holiday weekend, I received the shipping information on Monday of the holiday and was able to track it all to the way to my door, couldn't ask for better order tracking. The hitch was double boxed with a lot of staples and arrived in excellent shape a package that heavy is going to have some external wear IMO from all the handling. The hitch came delivered in 3 piece which allowed for easy moving into the bed of the truck. The hitch has very nice and hopefully durable finish . I have yet to tow with it but like the indicator colors and the positive locking system. 388900

We towed about 8k miles with the hitch and it had been great. Easy to connect and disconnect and have not been disappointed. The finish is holding up well and I left it exposed all winter as we camped sporadically all year.

I wonder if the landing gear legs on your 2015 Montana have retracting inner tubes that if you were to retract them would give you additional clearance.
Does the trailer sit level when connected to your trailer? If so, then you would not want to raise the front of the trailer.
If you do end up needing to raise your 1999 Ford F350 the best way to do it would be with a lift kit. We don't sell those but you shouldn't have a problem finding one for you vehicle. view full answer...

It sounds like the head might be seized where it pivots and moves. This can happen if the hitch is not lubricated according to the maintenance schedule in the manual/instructions. It can also occur if the hitch sustained any damage or was overloaded.
I recommend taking the head off and looking for any signs of excessive wear such as scarring of the metal, bent parts, things like that. Then clean off any dirt and grease and follow the greasing information in the instructions. After everything... view full answer...

I recommend choosing a fifth wheel hitch that is rated to handle more than the weight of the trailer you are towing.
You may get by pulling a trailer that is heavier that the rating for the hitch, but I would not take any chances. If there would be any issues, the warranty would be voided for towing with a trailer that is too heavy for the hitch.

Since you have already removed the pins and the bearing brackets on your Curt Q20 # C16130 and the head won't come loose, there is a simple solution.
