Reese Fifth Wheel Installation Kit

  • Above the Bed
  • Reese
  • Custom

Heavy-duty, custom brackets dramatically reduce the amount of drilling and time required to install your fifth-wheel trailer hitch. Outboard design ensures simple access to mounting points. Brackets, 10-bolt base rails and hardware included.

Features:

  • Installation brackets mount beneath your truck bed to provide attachment points for 5th-wheel rails
  • Base rails sit in truck bed and allow installation of 5th-wheel trailer hitch
  • Fast, simple installation with outboard design
    • Extended-length base rails allow for mounting farther out from truck frame
      • Avoids underbed components for easier access
      • Cuts down installation time by more than half compared with universal kits
    • Custom brackets mount to existing holes in truck frame, minimizing drilling and measuring
  • Thoroughly tested kit is compliant with strict Society of Automotive Engineers guidelines
  • Kit includes brackets, 10-bolt rails and Grade-8 hardware
  • Compatible with B&W, Curt, Demco Hijacker Premier Series, Draw-Tite, Hidden Hitch, Husky, Reese, and Valley above-bed 5th-wheel trailer hitches
  • Sturdy, black powder coated steel resists corrosion

Specs:

  • Base rail dimensions: 48" long x 1-7/8" tall
  • Limited lifetime warranty

Reese's outboard installation kit for your fifth-wheel trailer hitch was designed with safety and convenience in mind. Just like the original custom mounting brackets, these brackets install using existing holes in the truck frame, minimizing installation time. The biggest difference with this outboard kit is the extended-length rails. These above-bed rails are 5 inches longer than standard, universal fifth-wheel rails so that they will match up with the mounting points on the brackets, which sit below the bed and outside of your truck's frame. The result is a much simpler installation process, wherein most underbed components can be easily avoided. Because you are working outside the frame rails, you also have easier access with your tools and more room to work, making the whole process less of a pain.

The base rails included in this installation kit feature a standard 10-bolt design. Each of these rails attaches to the underbed brackets with two carriage bolts at both ends. A single bolt is used in the center of each rail to further secure it in your truck bed. The result is a set of base rails that remains firmly in place thanks to 10 points of contact.

This entire installation kit is built to be SAE J2638 compliant and has been extensively tested per specified accelerated-life-cycle criteria for fifth-wheel trailer hitches. The requirements for testing are based on the European-style test of 900,000 cycles, making this testing process among the most thorough and intensive in the industry.

The brackets and rails were a perfect fit, really easy and fast to install, took me 2 hours from start to finish.

2013 Ford F-250 Super Duty

Delivery time was very reasonable, installation of rails and frame brackets straight forward and relatively simple. I went to extra lengths to try and get them in exactly as per recommended measurements. Not sure in 1/8 to 1/16 inch off would be an issue, so I worked until I nailed it exactly. Haven't picked up the new 5th wheel yet, but anticipating no problems. 2013 F250 diesel crew cab short bed.

Product was on back order for some time which was out of etrailers control , once product was in very quick response and shipping . Thanks

I really like the hitch, install took a little time but every thing went in as planned , the best part is easy hook up to the fifth wheel . I also installed the power cord which just plugged into the factory plugs drilled a hole in the side of the inner bed were I wanted it and done . I would like to thank your company for the quick delivery even though the hitch was on back order which is not your fault. I appreciate all the help from the staff at etrailer and will order from you again when parts or other items are needed . Thank you for your follow up and have a great Christmas and a Happy new year .

2012 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty

Ordered a Reece custom fifth wheel bracket kit with rails. It was delivered in a timely manner and I installed it myself. Went right on with no problems. I do wish the instructions had mentioned what to do when you have a bracket hole hitting the bed cross members. I had to drive the shims between the bed and cross members to keep the bed from collapsing.

2012 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty

Overall product is great, the construction is heavy duty gauge metal for better strength, much better that what I was sold at the dealership in the past.
Installation was easy and straight forward.

See what our Experts say about this Reese Fifth Wheel Installation Kit

  • Could Reese Fifth Wheel Rail Kit be Used with Pullrite Fifth Wheel Hitch
There are some versions of the Pullrite Superglide hitches that are designed to fit industry standard rails which is what the bracket kit part # RP56016 is designed to work with. Which we have this as a kit with rails with part # RP56016-53 but if you have a hitch that is designed to fit the Pullrite rails we don't have a solution. Typically Pullrite puts "ISR" on their hitches that use industry standard rails like this as well as I know the 2700 is for this type of rail too.

  • Installing Reese Quick-Install Custom Base Rails on a 2012 Ford F250
This can seem counterintuitive, but the 27 5/8 measurement for the install of the Reese rail and bracket kit # RP56016-53 applies to both 8 foot and 6 3/4 foot beds. Slider hitches will generally sit closer to the cab of the vehicle whilst in the towing position, keeping it almost centered over the axle. Long beds using fixed hitches will stay at that centered point. I have also included an install video of this system being installed on 2012 F-250 long bed for you to check out.

Sounds like the previous owner removed the hitch and the base rails that you would see installed in the bed of the truck. Otherwise you would want a rail kit # RP56016-53 as well to give your truck bed a set of rails for the hitch to install into. This is a custom install kit that installs in half the time...

  • What are the Differences between Reese Fifth Wheel Rail Kits that Fit 2016 Ford F-250 Short Bed
Reese offers two fifth wheel rail kits for your 2016 Ford F-250 short bed. They are different styles that have trade offs, but both of them are going to be much easier to install than a universal install kit. The part # RP56016-53 is an outboard rail kit. This means that the brackets for the rails mount on the outside of the truck frame. The benefit to this is that they are much easier to install. The drawbacks are that they cost more and the rails are dimensionally larger all around. The...

These brackets are very similar and have very close instructions when it comes to install as well. Other than the size of the base rails, there really are no big differences.
