This coupler features a simple-to-use latching mechanism known as the eZ-Latch. With this mechanism, hooking up is as easy as dropping the coupler over your trailer hitch ball. The latch does not need to be tugged or manually activated to allow the ball into the coupler socket, nor does it have to be secured in place. Just make sure that the coupler is properly lined up with the ball when you lower it, and the rest is automatic. Disengaging the coupler is just as effortless. Simply lift up the handle and the coupler socket will automatically release its grip on the ball.
The contoured, low-profile design of the latch handle helps protect the coupler from damage by allowing any potential hazards - from debris on the road to your ball mount backing into the coupler - to simply slide over the top. This helps prevent anything from getting under the latch handle and releasing the ball, and it can also limit any damage to the coupler should an impact occur
Unlike most couplers, which have a pin hole on the handle latch, the eZ-Latch coupler features a hole on the side of the coupler itself. Inserting a coupler lock through this hole will keep the latch from lifting, preventing disconnect and theft.
Made of sturdy steel, this coupler features a durable red powder coat primed paint that is designed to limit rust and corrosion. This finish, which allows for easy welding, has a 500-hour salt spray rating, making the coupler perfect for marine use.
The eZ-Latch's sleek, ergonomically designed handle is constructed of an impact-resistant polymer-nylon-resin compound that provides the flexibility and strength needed to bounce back from a collision. The handle is corrosion-proof, allowing it to withstand whatever the road and the elements dish out.

Ellen: Hey everyone, I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com and we're going to be taking a look at the Demco eZ-Latch Trailer Coupler. This is going to be a bolt-on trailer coupler for your two and five 16th inch ball. And it does feature that eZ-Latch, which like the name implies. It's going to make it easy to hook up and disconnect from your trailer. So I have kind of a mock-up of what that would look like so we can kind of look at how that's going to work. The nice thing about it is that you don't have to open this up to drop down the coupler on the ball, it's going to allow you to just drop that right on there and it's going to automatically go in place.
So right now I have it on there. I'm going to lift this up, take it off. You can see it's pretty easy to do that. You just lift up on the latch and remove it. You don't have to fight with it or coax it in and out of place.Whenever there's a load on there, it might get a little bit more bound up.
It's just kind of the nature of it, but even though this latch is made out of a plastic, it's really heavy-duty. If you need to, you can whack on it with a hammer to get it to where it needs to go. So, don't feel like just because that's plastic, that it's something that's flimsy or not up to the job. It also is kind of an aerodynamic shape so it helps to protect that coupler over all, keep anything from getting under there and causing any issues. So, to get it attached, you can see, it's closed that latch, just drop it over there.
And that's all there is to it. You just push it down or let the weight of the trailer go down and it's already attached. So you don't have to open it up, back up, drop the trailer down, come back, relatch it, it just drops right on there and it's good to go. So it makes it really simple to get that connection made without having to fiddle with it too much. As far as the overall specs with this trailer coupler, it does have, again that two and five 16th inch opening. So it'll work with our two and five 16th inch hitch ball.
It's all pretty much encapsulated here. It is a drop forge construction. So it's going to be nice sturdy steel. It's covered with a red primer, so that helps to kind of get it started so that you don't have to worry about too much rust and corrosion, but it is advisable to paint over this. It's not going to be up to the task for being out in the elements all the time. You do need to paint over this. It's just a primer.Again, bolt-on installation. It does not come with the hardware to attach this. So you will need to pick up some bolts on your own. The pattern for that, to give you some measurements real quick is about four and a half inches by about four and a half inches. Overall length here about nine inches from where it would mount onto that flat surface to the end of the trailer, coupler. And outside width, it looks like it's right about six inches. And then about the same six inches tall here. It does have a little pin going through there. So if you want to secure this with a lock, you can. The diameter on that looks like it's about a quarter of an inch, I think. Yeah, quarter of an inch pin would work through there. It'll just need to have a span of at least three inches to go through and attach. You might need something kind of high to go around that. The weight capacity that this can handle is 21,000 pounds. The bolt hole diameter here at the back is five eighths of an inch. It should be a great addition to your trailer to help you haul down your utility, livestock or agricultural cargo trailer and construction trailers. So has a lot of different uses out there. They have on here that actually says a five 16th inch hole on either side. I think I said a quarter of an inch. So it's slightly bigger than that, but a quarter of an inch or a five 16th inch pin will work out pretty well to prevent anybody from taking that on you. That's pretty much all there is to it. I hope this has been helpful in deciding if this is going to be the right coupler for you. Again, that weight capacity is 21,000 pounds. You want to be sure that you check your owner's manual for your towing vehicle and also check the specs on your hitch. You want to go off with the lowest number between any of those to make sure that you're not overloading anything in your system. That's it for me. Thanks for watching. We'll see you out there on the road..
