This coupler features a simple-to-use latching mechanism known as the eZ-Latch. With this mechanism, hooking up is as easy as dropping the coupler over your trailer hitch ball. The latch does not need to be tugged or manually activated to allow the ball into the coupler socket, nor does it have to be secured in place. Just make sure that the coupler is properly lined up with the ball when you lower it, and the rest is automatic. Disengaging the coupler is just as effortless. Simply lift up the handle and the coupler socket will automatically release its grip on the ball.
The contoured, low-profile design of the latch handle helps protect the coupler from damage by allowing any potential hazards - from debris on the road to your ball mount backing into the coupler - to simply slide over the top. This helps prevent anything from getting under the latch handle and releasing the ball, and it can also limit any damage to the coupler should an impact occur
Unlike most couplers, which have a pin hole on the handle latch, the eZ-Latch coupler features a hole on the side of the coupler itself. Inserting a coupler lock through this hole will keep the latch from lifting, preventing disconnect and theft.
Made of sturdy steel, this coupler features a durable red powder coat primed paint that is designed to limit rust and corrosion. This finish has a 500-hour salt spray rating, making the coupler perfect for marine use.
The eZ-Latch's sleek, ergonomically designed handle is constructed of an impact-resistant polymer-nylon-resin compound that provides the flexibility and strength needed to bounce back from a collision. Today we're going to take a look at this Demco Flat Plate Mount Trailer Coupler for a two and five sixteenths diameter ball, it has a 21,000 pound weight capacity. Now this heavy duty ball coupler lets you hook up your trailer to your tow vehicle, provides the connection point for the hitch ball. So it is ideal for utility, livestock, cargo, and even construction trailers.It does use this nice easy latch mechanism here, which ensures simple, secure hookup and disconnect. Basically this latch will let you hook up even when the latch is in the closed position, like it is right now. All you have to do is drop the coupler over the hitch ball, and the latch will snap into place.
And just to demonstrate that, I happen to pull. Here's an example of a two and five sixteenths diameter hitch ball. So when you go to put this onto the hitch ball, you just put it on there, and when you push it, you can see that it'll latch right onto the ball and you're all ready to go. And then to disconnect it, all you have to do is raise up on the latch, and you can pull it right off the hitch ball. And when you go to connect again, all you have to do is drop it onto the ball, and you can see it'll automatically lock without having to raise that latch.Now also, if you notice right here, it includes this five sixteenths diameter hole that goes through here all the way across, and that's to use for a coupler lock to prevent theft of the trailer.
So if you can put a coupler lock through there, it'll prevent anybody from unlatching it and removing it. And you do need to make sure the lock you get has a usable length on the coupler lock of three inches or more. That's the measurement from this side to this side. But again, to remove it just lift up on the latch and remove it from the ball.Now this is a flat mounting plate that'll bolt directly to your trailer. It does require the use of three quarter inch diameter Grade 5 hardware.
Now the hardware is not included. It is a sturdy steel construction, has a nice prime finish to it, and this part is made in the USA.Again, the ball size this will fit on is a two and five sixteenths diameter. Weight capacity is 21,000 pounds. Now a few measurements on this. The mounting pattern, in other words these four mounting holes here, the distance between the holes center to center, is right at four and a half inches.
The bolt hole diameter we mentioned is three quarters of an inch. And the total length on this once it's installed, if we measure from the face of the mounting plate to the end of the coupler, is going to be right at eight and a half inches long.But that should do it for the review on this Demco Flat Plate Mount Trailer Coupler for two and five sixteenths diameter ball with a 21,000 pound weight capacity.
