I just received the Custer Smart Light from etrailer yesterday. Charged the light bar for a few hours as recommended then mounted it to the roof of my SUV and plugged the transmitter into my motorhome. The light bar works as advertised. Time will tell if this item holds up to about 8K miles of towing per year. If all is well after a years use I give it 5 stars.

I use the light bar on my SUV towed behind my RV. The towed vehicle is a $50k SUV so I was not excited about tapping into the wiring, or drilling holes in the taillight for an extra incandescent light in a well designed LED setup. I just have two comments. One make sure you zip tie the transmitter. If you are driving on 95 in the Northeast it will vibrate out. I am glad I thought of it or I would have been very unhappy. Second, you can not tell if the light runs out of juice. If it was not for irate truckers honking I would not have known. Be ready with a backup power supply in case your driving day includes a 3 hour delay due to accidents. Otherwise it has clung well, worked great and is very bright. I would recommend this product for any tower’s

  • Magnetic Versus Wired Magnetic Towing Lights For Long Road Trips
If you were to go with the either the Custer Wireless LED Tow Bar Light 4-Way # LIW-LDTL or 7-Way # LIW-LDTL-7B I recommend getting 2 of these. That will allow you to have one in the cab charging while using the other one. As they have an expected battery life of 6-8hours per charge this will allow you to switch them out as you stop for gas or food. Otherwise the Magnetic LED Tow Light Kit # TLL21RK will provide you with 20' of wiring to use hard wired lights. These lights uses LED's...

As you already have the Demco Commander II Non-Binding Tow Bar # DM9511012 the Demco Tabless Base Plate # DM77YV is going to be the easiest option for your 2024 Ford Maverick, as you will not need any adapters to work with a different manufacturer base plate. For your Brake Buddy Classic 3 Portable Flat Tow Brake System # HM39494 we do have the 2nd Vehicle Kit # BB59SR. This will contain the wiring and breakaway switch if you did not remove them from your Jeep Liberty. Finally for the...

The 4-pin round connector that includes the transmitter for the Custer Wireless LED Tow Bar Light # LIW-LDTL will plug into the 4-pin connector on your motorhome and then transmit the signal to the light bar. If you do not have a 4-pin round connector on your motorhome, you would need to add one. You can do this using the Pollak 4-Pole Round Wiring Socket # PK11404. Once you have the plug, you then need to route 16-gauge wire # 16-4B-1 to those pins into your current wiring. I have attached...

  • Wiring Options for Flat Towing 2012 Honda CR-V
You're fortunate that the 2012 CR-V has some good options available for wiring. I prefer an option that doesn't require the vehicle wiring to be cut into. Custer offers a wireless magnetic mount tow lamp, part # LIW-LDTL. Installation couldn't be simpler. Plug the transmitter into the 7-way on the RV, and place the lights where they're wanted on the vehicle. The wireless feature means there's no wires flapping in the breeze as you're driving down the road. The tow bar lighting would remain...

  • Availability of Wireless LED Tow Light that Uses a Rechargeable Battery
The exact thing that you just described is the Custer Wireless LED Tow Light # LIW-LDTL. It uses magnets to install on the towed vehicle and has a rechargeable battery so you to not have to purchase AA or AAA batteries to power it. For the light functions to work you will simply need to plug in the wireless transmitter to the 7-Way on the back or your RV or tow vehicle and then flip the switch to the "on" position on the light bar. Since this is made to be installed on the top of a towed...

We carry the CusterWireless tow light system # LIW-LDTL that do not splice into the vehicle wiring as you said you wanted. We do not carry the Pilot lights you mentioned. The great feature about the # LIW-LDTL is that it is a magnetic light and you only have to be concerned with one area to attach it to. This system has a charging cord for the light, where the Pilot system uses 6 AA batteries that can be a hassle when the batteries go dead.

It is very easy to maneuver and it comes with the safety cables for added security when driving down the road. Next you will want your base plates. • How to Charge Custer Wireless LED Tow Bar Light # LIW-LDTL
The Custer Wireless LED Tow Bar Light # LIW-LDTL does have a rechargeable battery and the only way to charge it is by plugging in the included 12V DC/cigarette style adapter charger. It will still function like normal when it's actually plugged in and charging, but you will want to make sure that the 12V outlet in your towed vehicle still gets power when the vehicle is turned off for flat towing. I have attached a short video review on this tow bar light that you can also check out.

The Custer Wireless LED Tow Bar Light # LIW-LDTL that you referenced is designed to attach with the powerful magnets on the bottom of it either to the top of a vehicle or to the rear bumper. Looking at the rear of your 2001 Jeep TJ the best shot it's going to have at fitting properly is if you have a metal rear bumper you can set it on top of since the top is not metal. • How Many Hours Will the Custer Wireless LED Light Battery Last Between Charges
The Custer Wireless LED Tow Bar Light # LIW-LDTL has a 4-8 hours battery life before it would need to be charged, so it's not really ideal for the use that you're looking for. With that said, if you could figure out a way to keep it plugged in to a 12v power source inside the tow vehicle you could likely make this work as you're hoping. You could also use a setup like the Roadmaster Standard Magnetic Tow Lights # RM-2120. Check out the attached video to see how easily it is installed.

The tow bar has a 10,000 lb capacity, so it would work fine with either vehicle.
