Shane: Hey guys, Shane here with etrailer.com. Today, we're going to be taking a look at the Taylor Made replacement shocks. These shocks are going to be great for replacing the old worn outs gas shocks on your basement door or your luggage door on your campers. But not only that, they're also going to work on. Maybe you have an inboard or outboard boat that the deck has to be lifted up so you can air out the fumes, the gas fumes, before you start your engine. They're going to work great for those.
Maybe you have a car that has a hatch on it. These are also going to work great to replace those old worn out shocks on your cars, as well as your boats and your campers. Normally, our shock is supposed to hold our door open. Not doing it anymore. That means our shocks are wearing out.It becomes a pain in the butt when you're trying to get in there and get something and you got to hold this up to get that out with one hand, or you think your shock's working and you reach in with both hands and this thing comes down and hits you back of the head, on your back.
It becomes a pain. These are going to mount directly in place of your factory shocks. These trickier ones are going to be 20" long with a 30 pound compression. You can find different lengths here at etrailer. Adding new shacks are going to make it much easier when opening your door to be able to hold it open.
It's going to provide enough pressure to keep that door up. You really don't have to lift it much, really with your finger, push it up and it'll stay up by itself. As you can see here, new shocks are able to hold up for a door. It's going to make it much easier for us to use both hands to get any luggage in and out of this lower compartment, not have to worry about our door falling on us. That's going to do it for a look at Taylor Made Gas Shocks..

Ordering and receiving product just fine. The strut will some time hold up the door and some times. A little on short on force.

I have gotten in touch with the manufacturer and they suggest that you would need to increase the lbs to maybe twenty lbs. You would want to use part number 3691824 which is 12inch x 20lbs.
Love these shocks! Great for boat hatch es!
Parts are excellent but condition of packaging was poor. Transparent tape used on back of box did not hold and box was mostly open. Adhesive failure of tape I see as most likely problem. Please see photos of box.
All of the parts did arrive even though condition of box would allow parts to fall out if not handled with care.
The old standby paper tape with water activated adhesive in my opinion would not have had this problem.
Hope this review is helpful.

I wanted to update the struts on my RV bed. Original ones would not hold the bed up for me to access the storage area underneath. So I wanted to increase the 'Force' rating of the struts. However, I was concerned with 'too much force' on a wooden structure. So, I increased the force by 10 lbs with these new struts. These work really well. Highly recommended.
I used them to make a lift system for a pontoon rear lid. I rebuiilt a 1988 pontoon. The Gas Struts make it much eaiser!!!
Strut works great and the service at Etrailer is outstanding!
Every business in the country should take lessons from etrailer on how to ship in a manner like they do. Ordered on Friday afternoon and received package the following Monday around lunchtime. Customer service is best I have ever experienced.
These struts worked phenomenal. I should have added them to our food trailer years ago. We retrofitted a 1972 Shasta Go Tag Along trailer and used real pine wood for a nice warm look. The side windows we cut into her were made of 2x4, plywood and pine wood. They were extremely heave and difficult to open. The struts were added and now they slowly open with by themselves. They are easy to close and only take one hand. Should have added them years ago!!
Installed last year on Crownline Boat large engine compartment cowl. They worked awesome last year and this year even after -40 c this winter in Saskatchewan Canada in cold storage.
I have always had a great experience ordering with E-trailer.
2008 Grady White boat needed a new hatch lift. Boat manufacturers are not like automobile manufacturers, and many times the customer is on his own to find older parts. This was a perfect fit for the worn out gas strut. Even thought the force was 10 pounds lighter than the original part, it works fine. I was most pleased as the size and connectors fitted perfectly to effect a quick sure fix.
Quality and service excellent. Very fast delivery. Extremely satisfied from beginning to end of process.
Needed to replace several boat hatch struts on a 2008 cruiser. etrailer had the right parts and the phone support to help me sort my older boat. Well done.
Service was good and the order was received in a timely manner. The only complaint has to do with the product description. There were two different struts with exactly the same description but different prices. The difference between the two could not be determined by the customer service representative. Not sure what we missed, but there must have been something different
Exact replacement part for Malibu Ski Boat ski locker. Works well and delivered fast.
Works as expected. This was a very hard item to find. Etrailer delivered when others couldn’t.
Did a bit of research on how to install these shocks via [online video] and ordered this product and installed in my rod lockers. Great products all around, was offered support but did not need it (got lucky). I need to fish more but so far so awesome.
Good strut. The one I was looking for was hard to find, but they had it. Happy with the purchase.
Works great. Easier than I thought to install. Quality product
Bought these to replace 20" struts to gain height on lifting outside kitchen door of RV. However, the closing length was not enough and ended up having to move brackets, losing about 1 inch of distance. Otherwise, they have worked out and are holding up so far over about a week of use.

Oh no, that does not sound good! Would you happen to know how heavy the door is thats being held up?
