With the Defender gooseneck coupler from B&W, you get the best of both worlds. Not only does this coupler make hookup an absolute snap, but it also defends against trailer theft. The built-in lock can be engaged when your trailer is hooked up to your truck, thus preventing uncoupling. It can also be locked when your trailer is not hooked up, preventing would-be thieves from hooking your trailer up to their gooseneck ball.
To begin the process of hooking up your trailer, unlock the Defender. Line the hitch ball in your truck up with the coupler. Because the funnel on the Defender is larger than the average gooseneck coupler funnel, you don't have to be exact when lining your tow vehicle up with your trailer. Just make sure that the ball is within 2" of the coupler's socket.
Once you have the ball lined up with the coupler, lower your trailer. The funnel will guide the ball into the socket, and the ball latch will engage automatically. You will know that the latch is engaged because the handle will rotate counterclockwise and retract against the coupler's housing. When you confirm that the Defender is properly latched around your hitch ball, simply push the lock cylinder in. When locked, the cylinder will be flush with the coupler's housing.

I currently have a B&W Companion 5th wheel hitch. Love the both!

Nice coupler but DO NOT USE this coupler in a recessed ball hitch on a flat bed! The handle did not clear the sides of hole and the first turn i made snapped her off.

Great coupler - generous sloped diameter allows you to be off by a couple inches and still seat in there fine. Love the locking feature.
I got the hitch Ball/chain package and the Gooseneck hitch post, they were delayed a bit with "covid" problems but once shipped were 3 days early!!! GREAT, thru the process e-Trailer Tori and George were just awesome with contact and updating me all the time.
The BW hitch Ball is 10 times the product the factory Curt ball and chain hooks were is quality, fits tight in the receptacle and I am sure will quiet the "take off and stop" clunk not to mention ease of install and fit overall. I have not installed the gooseneck post yet but the quality is excellent and am looking forward to using it.
