Curt EZr Double Lock Gooseneck Hitch Operation
The Curt EZr Double Lock underbed gooseneck trailer hitch provides a sturdy, secure connection for towing your gooseneck trailer and also allows for a clean, unobtrusive look for your truck bed when you aren't towing. To tow, simply pull the included handle out to unlock the hitch. Then insert the chrome-plated hitch ball into the ball hole. You may need to rotate the ball to line it up with the dual locking pins. When the ball drops into place, rotate the handle counterclockwise until the locking pins snap into position. Because there are 2 locking pins instead of 1, you get extra security for your towing setup.
Get full bed access when you're not towing. Just remove the ball, flip it upside down, drop it back into the ball hole of the hitch, and use the handle to lock the ball in place. A rubber cover is included with the EZr Double Lock. When the ball is stowed upside down in the hitch, place this cover over the ball hole to keep out dirt and grime and create a clean look for your vehicle.
Curt Center Locator Tool
The innovative center locator tool included with this gooseneck trailer hitch is designed to make installation fast and easy by eliminating the need to measure where the ball hole must be cut into your truck bed. Once you have the custom installation kit in place and the gooseneck hitch is properly attached to the rails, the bright orange locator will help you to finish installation.
Use the hole at the center of the locator to line up your 3/16" drill bit, and drill up from beneath the bed to create a pilot hole. This pilot hole will be your guide as you cut the 4" diameter ball hole into your truck bed.
When you begin cutting through your bed, the locator will act as a trim shield, ensuring that you don't drill too deep. Continue cutting from the top of your truck bed until orange shavings appear. Once you see these shavings, you've gone far enough. The center locator can be easily removed from the hitch once installation is complete.
Video Transcript for Curt EZr Double Lock Underbed Gooseneck Hitch Review
Hey, everybody. Ryan here at etrailer. Today, we're gonna be checking out the CURT Double Lock underbed gooseneck trailer hitch kit. By having a gooseneck trailer hitch back here, it's gonna allow you to hook up to all those different types of trailers. Whether you're trying to pull a camper around, or a car hauler, whatever you might have, you want a reliable hitch that is gonna provide us with a really secure connection point. That way, we can safely tow whatever we're pulling down the road and a kit like this is gonna do just that.
One of the really nice things is you're still gonna have pretty much full bed access, right So, the only thing that's gonna be taking up really any space is just your safety chain hooks there, but they're spring loaded so they sit pretty much flush anyway. The ball can be flipped over and stored like that, and they even give you a cap to put over it. And so, you're not losing really any of your bed space at all. And that's honestly what our neighbor here today was kind of sick of. So, you can probably see the discoloration in the bed.
He actually had 5th wheel rails in here and needs to pull a gooseneck, right Well, there's a lot of different things now you can convert. There's parts you can use to convert your 5th wheel rails into a gooseneck and so on but he's sick of having all this stuff in the back, right So, getting rid of that. Putting in this gooseneck hitch, gonna free up all that space and allow him to help pull his trailer down the road. I do like the operation of the handle and I feel like that double lock mechanism is partly due to that. Kind of just keeps everything gliding the way it should, but super easy to operate.
So right now, it's in the locked position. So the ball, you wanna be able to remove it or put it in or anything. If you're ready to flip it over to tow or flip it over to store it, just pull this out of the ways, rotate it to left just a hair, and it'll stay open for you. That way, you can go in there do what you need to do and then lock it back in. Since this hitch does sit underneath of our bed, it keeps everything free up top and this is what it's gonna look like.
So, it doesn't interfere with anything or anything along those lines. One of the things that does kind of separate this hitch from some of the others is it has a double locking pin here. So, we can see one of them. The other one's just further up top. So, it has two pins. Kind of double the security there and double the strength. And that's not something you see on a lot of these types of hitches. So, it definitely isn't gonna hurt anything and the more the better, at least in my opinion. The center locator tool is going to be a one time thing that you'll use during the install. I think this thing is awesome though. There's no guessing where you're gonna need to drill a big hole in your truck bed like the other brands. And this gives you the confidence and perfect placement for where to drill your holes up into the truck bed for the opening. We've done plenty of these underbed gooseneck hitch installs and sometimes even though you do things perfect with the measurements they give you, things just don't line up perfectly. And with this orange center locator, you don't need to worry about messing up your truck. The hitch is gonna come with the 2 5/16 ball. Pretty standard there. Overall, a good all-around hitch. To be honest with you, usually, I'm kind of partial to B&W hitches. They're really well made and I was pretty surprised at this one. CURT's definitely not bad by any means. Just when it comes to in bed hitches and things like that, B&W kind of shines in my opinion. But I was actually really surprised and impressed with this one. It went together really good. Didn't have to fight it really at all. Everything's well made and it feels like it's really secure and just a good fit for the truck. So, I feel like that's most important when it really comes down to it cause you're pulling some heavy stuff around. I definitely wouldn't hesitate to use it on my own truck. It's going to fit a lot of different trucks. Use our fit guide. Put in your year, make and model of your truck. And if it's a fit for your truck, I think you'll be happy. And that'll do it for your look at the line of CURT EZr Double Lock underbed gooseneck trailer hitches..

The hitch itself seems to be of good quality, well made, and there was no need to raise the bed of the pick up. Still, when it was delivered the box seams were open, the big parts were banging around, and the plastic bag containing all the small parts had broken open and the parts strewn about the interior. The ups guy and I picked up all the parts we could find on the driveway and thankfully I only had to make a couple of trips to the hardware store to buy what was lost. Had one of the custom pieces been lost, the 2 hour installation would have stretched into weeks. As it was, without a hoist and air tools it did take a couple of days. The video on this site was of immense help as the printed instructions were all too brief. I would suggest that the video incorporate wide shots periodically so the viewer can orient to the truck before going in for close ups. Finding a 5/8" hole saw was no easy task either but I did find one eventually. As always, its never as easy as it looks on TV.567414

The Curt EZr Double Lock Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch (C619-648) is a solid hitch and worthy of praise. Had no issues installing on 2006 Silverado 2500HD and fits frame/bed perfectly.817813

Review from a similar Ezr Double Lock in Gooseneck Hitch
Seems heavy duty but the brackets hit the u-bolts and spring top plates. Curt told me I must of installed them wrong. I don't think so1295928
I contacted Curt and they said that there is something different about your truck. I looked through our previous reviews on the matter and came across a similar situation as yours where the brackets hit the U-bolts. One of our experts said that the suspension may be worn and sitting lower than normal causing the issue. The customer then replied a year later saying that he installed air bags on his truck and the problem was resolved. I would check your suspension and see if this would be your solution as well.

Review from a similar Ezr Double Lock in Gooseneck Hitch
2021 Sierra 2500 standard box. Item arrived pretty quick with all parts included and no damage.
Instructions for the install are, in my opinion, not very detailed and left me having to figure several things out on my own. Biggest pain was having to drop the fuel tank a few inches to access the hole in the driver-side frame rail to fish wire the one bolt for the side plate. Unsure why this info was missing as I would imagine anyone installing this on the same truck would have the same issue of not having enough clearance for the fish wire procedure. The front and rear rails are 0.25” in length different and are not labeled - be prepared to measure and appropriately install in the correct position with the holes closer to the bottom (this is poorly referenced in the instructions and leaves additional room for error and time). The install took me about 7 hours (no help).
Finished product is nice and sturdy. The ball ends up being about 4-5” forward the rear axle. I tried to find this info prior to purchasing, but could not. I use an extang hard tri-fold tonneau cover that does not flip fully up toward the cab and was concerned I would have to remove each time I hooked up a gooseneck. It appears that I will have to remove for most applications due to clearance issues, so less than ideal. Operates as intended and should bring many years of trouble free service.1474733

Review from a similar Ezr Double Lock in Gooseneck Hitch
I installed this hitch on my 2021 Silverado 2500HD. When first looking under the truck it appeared the exhaust would have to be modified to make the unit fit. The fact is this unit went in without any modifications at all…even all the factory drilled holes lined up perfectly. I recommend this hitch to anyone that has a stock exhaust system.1268636
Review from a similar Ezr Double Lock in Gooseneck Hitch
Nice clean look. Most importantly didn't have to lower exhaust. centering the hitch in the bed was easy because of the template provided. Although install did take longer than what was noted, it was fairly simple. Would definitely purchase again. 821676
Great hitch, working great. Many, many miles on it dragging horses all over the Midwest. Only thing I did was coat locking pins and ball with anti-seize.

Review from a similar Ezr Double Lock in Gooseneck Hitch
Build quality was outstanding, this is one stout piece of equipment. Install was a bit challenging because I did it by myself, but if I had someone to help it would have been much easier. Overall, the install was not too bad, just give yourself about 4-5 hrs if you don't have help. I'm very happy with this purchase and would definitely recommend.1112594

Easy to install. 64 years old and did it all by myself. So glad I went with this style. Have gooseneck and fifth wheel ability. When I want my full bed there’s no rails in the way. Pulling 13,000-14,000 lb fifth wheel camper. No problems.986161

Review from a similar Ezr Double Lock in Gooseneck Hitch
hitch itself fit good, Didn't really like the mounting design though. Kit requires one big bolt and a u bolt "Are supplied" that holds it on truck. Seems it could be made more secure with better designed mounting brackets, but overall kit fit well and is working for what i need.1190212

Review from a similar Ezr Double Lock in Gooseneck Hitch
Great hitch and easy to use. I did have to lift up the bed a little bit to install it. Took me about 5 hours because of that but otherwise it is a great hitch. The rings for the safety chains stay on the bed and the ball flips over and stows away completely. 785358
Review from a similar Ezr Double Lock in Gooseneck Hitch
The install of this hitch was great. Fit fine and works as it should. Only issue I had was that I'm the second owner of the truck and first owner had installed both a gooseneck and a 5th wheel hitch and welded a bunch of brackets to the truck frame, then removed both hitches before he got rid of truck. I had to spend a couple hours grinding the brackets off before I could install new hitch. I had to inlarge hole for the gooseneck ball as the placement of new ball was 2.5"s farther back then the original hitch that had bee there previously.1262927

Review from a similar Ezr Double Lock in Gooseneck Hitch
This hitch was an easy install, only a couple of hours and no welding or bed removal. I would like to thank Gwen, my sales rep, for her great customer service and when I explained I was on a time crunch to get the hitch she assured me that would not be an issue. Sure enough I received the hitch in just a couple of days.1263789

Review from a similar Ezr Double Lock in Gooseneck Hitch
One of the 2 black carrier spacers is gone #60645-cbs. They were loose in the box with the rails and side plates. One fell out of the torn box. Don't know why those spacers were not put in the plastic bag of hardware. So now can not mount the hitch. Called your office and ordered , But who knows how long that will take. Not very happy with your company.1245713

Review from a similar Ezr Double Lock in Gooseneck Hitch
Install was straightforward and the hitch is working perfectly. I had my bed off when I installed, so the process was pretty simple. It would have been more difficult with the bed on, but that isn’t the fault of the hitch. The hitch has been reliable and sturdy, I wouldn’t hesitate to buy another Curt from eTrailer!1172055

Review from a similar Ezr Double Lock in Gooseneck Hitch
Installed on a 2002 Ford f250 short bed. this was very easy to install just as specified I chose to remove my 5inch exhaust to make for more room and easier install but it went in smooth and the exhaust went back in with around 1 inch of room to spare so not much modification. The only problem that I have ran into is for some odd reason when I hook up our gooseneck trailer the tongue weight brings the suspension down enough that the side plates actually hit the u-bolt studs that hold the leaf springs to the axle. So idk what’s going on with that but not real happy about it I’m going to have to cut my u-bolts down some in order for it to be able to ride smoothly otherwise the bracket hits the u-bolts every time you hit a bump and it doesn’t sound pleasant at all. Not sure if it’s just this hitch or other ones that do it but the side plates have an edge that sticks out and it’s slamming off of the U-bolts. 610293

I spoke with the folks at Curt, and they were wondering if your truck had the original suspension. If the suspension on the truck is worn, it will sit lower and could cause the issue you describe.

Update 1 year later: I did end up cutting the tops of the u bolts off in order to make clearance for the trailer weight it does fine now. After about two months of that I chose to install air bags on my truck and haven’t had a problem with it since. My only recommendation is oil the pins that lock the ball in place I have noticed over time just road debris and dirt getting in there and it can sometimes have a little resistance going back in with the ball facing down. Other than that good product I would purchase it again.
From a function point of view there isn't a huge difference between the two Curt gooseneck hitches # C60712 and # C619-648. You might notice that the EZR has a smaller plate that has larger u-bolts for safety chains and the Double Lock has smaller safety chain loops that aren't centered. view full answer...
There are actually a couple differences between the Curt EZr # C619-648 and the Double Lock # C60712. The visible one will be that the safety chains on the # C60712 are not centered like the ones on the # C619-648. The difference that is not visible is the ball. The depth of the pins that hold the ball in place are different between the two. view full answer...
If the U-Bolt you're needing to replace is part of the bracket kit # C60648 then you'll need to get the whole installation kit unfortunately - I confirmed this with my contact at Curt.
The only other U-Bolts used in the Curt EZr Double Lock Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch # C619-648 are the ones used for the safety chains and these can be found here # C68WR. view full answer...
The Curt EZr Double Lock Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch with Installation Kit part # C619-648 hitch ball opening will not line up with the B&W Turnoverball Gooseneck Trailer Hitch hitch ball opening on your 2005 GMC Sierra. The hitch ball opening for the Curt EZr will sit further away from the end of the bed when compared to the B&W Turnoverball. Therefore, the best option for you would be to re-install the B&W Turnoverball Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch part # BWGNRK1059 for 1500 models,... view full answer...
