Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at this Reese above-bed gooseneck trailer hitch for the Reese Max Duty under-bed mounting systems. This has a 14,000 pound gross towing weight capacity. Now this is an above-bed gooseneck trailer hitch, and it's specifically designed for use with the Reese Max Duty under-bed system with a weight rating of 14,000 pounds. The Max Duty gooseneck hitch is designed to give you a maximum amount of towing capacity out of your Ford, Chevrolet, GMC, or Ram half-ton truck. It's a very easy to mount, easy to remove above-bed gooseneck trailer hitch, and it's perfect for towing your light duty gooseneck trailer.
The easy-to-remove hitch leaves your truck bed free when it's not being used. And as we mentioned, it does require the Reese Max Duty under-bed mounting kit for installation. Those under-bed mounting kits we do sell separately on our website. I'm gonna pop up an insert just to show you what we're talking about. There's what one of those kits looks like and you can see once that's installed under the bed of your truck, then this will drop right in there.
One note I do wanna mention, this hitch is not compatible with the factory-installed OEM under-bed mounting system. This will only work with the Max Duty under-bed mounting system. And just to show you how this installs, wanna zoom in from this side and show you. I'm gonna show you on this side, and what you do on this side, you also do on this side. So basically what you'll do is open the lynch, take off the linchpin, open the latches a quarter of a turn, both of them, and you do it again the same over here on each corner.
So once they're open, that moves these tabs here into the open position, you can drop it down into the Max Duty under-bed system. Once it's dropped in there, move your latches back, take your linchpin, and just drop it through there and clip it, and you'll do the same over there. And then it's locked into place, you're ready to tow. And again, to remove it, when you're ready to take this out, just do the opposite. Take the linchpin, open the latches, and then remove it.
You'll notice right here, these handles, they have a handle on each side. These are built-in safety chain brackets, which will double as handles for simple positioning and removal of the hitch. Now the gooseball itself right here, it is made of a solid steel for maximum strength. It is the standard diameter of 2-5/16 inches. Now while the base, you can see, is coated, has a nice black powder coat finish on to resist rust and corrosion. A few specs on this, again, the gross towing weight capacity is 14,000 pounds. Vertical load limit is 2,800 pounds. But that's gonna do it for the review on the Reese above-bed gooseneck trailer hitch for the Reese Max Duty under-bed mounting systems.
