I would like to have the actual distance from the weld joint to the hitch pin hole of 4 1/2". This unit is slightly less than that.

The extension has worked well. I drilled a new hitch pin hole to get the distance I wanted and have had no issues.

I have cargo trailer when hooked up to my F150, the tailgate if lowered would hit the trailer lift jack. This heavy duty solid extension reciever added an additional space which resulted in several good features. One and most obvious, the tailgate opened fully. The other is that the turning or backing radius was increased. This a solid piece of metal. Would recommend.

by:

This is a very well built extension, just what I needed, great service and fast shipping. Thanks etrailer

Its working great after a year, going strong

by:

It works great,by moving the trailer back from the vehicle you can load longer items,so there are not hanging over the back of the trailer. It also helps in the backing of the trailer.
Thank You

Still working great an it is very solid piece metal. Thank You

Works perfectly for two eBikes and bike rack.

by:

This extended hitch receiver is heavy and well built. It appears it will be able to withstand the extra weight of a 1-Up double rack and 2 e-bikes.

by:

In that I'm into Kayak fishing, I often go off the beaten trail to find launch points. As a result I need to back my trailer into some very tight areas and I simply could not do so without my extender. The only reason I did not give this a 5 star, is because of the safety chains. I had to extend them and then Velcro them around the extender to prevent them from dragging the ground. It would be great if there were guides or mount points on the extender for the chains.

Pulling a travel trailer with a pickup truck. This allows me to open the tailgate while connected and also gives more turning room.

Its been a year and a half and Im very pleased with the quality. Its heavy and solid and I feel safe hooking up the trailer to it.

by:

Great shipping time. The hitch extension was processed very quickly after my order online was placed.

This extension will allow me to pull a 7000 GVW utility trailer using a weight distributing hitch, with my truck camper on the truck.

The 2" solid steel shank gives this extension the strength it needs to do the job right.

After lots of research this is the only one I found that would do the job and only reduce my truck hitch capacity by 1/3.

Now I will be able to tow the 8ft x 16ft enclosed utility trailer I have been wanting for hauling toys on some of our family camping adventures.

etrailer.com comes highly recommend by me.

by:

Ordered the hitch extender for my motorhome because my trailer had a short hitch and
the back of the motorhome would hit the front of the trailer. Installed the product and left the next morning with a race car and trailer in tow. Went approximately 250 miles and had no issues and the hitch extender. It worked perfectly.

by:

I had bought and returned 3 extenders made and sold by others prior to getting the Brophy 14" Extender. The Brophy is far more superior than the others. The solid shank is much longer than the others, and it extends into the hollow end by more than 2" than the others, which makes it more heavy duty than the other less expensive exterders. I placed this extender on the rear of a Sprinter RV to hold a 4 tray Kuat Bike Rack. With the superior quality of the Brophy, I'm now comfortable placing 4 high end bikes on the rack and it's SOLID.

by:

Heavy duty item. HEAVY item. The 2" section is solid steel. I bought this to move the hitch ball back to clear my camper. Item works as promised.

by:

Quality ball mount and ball. I'm suprised to find extended ball mounts
in 11", 13.5" and 16" sizes, so I can put down the tailgate on my pickup without detaching the trailer. Fast shipping (free) adds icing on the cake. They even sent a coupon for 5% off on my next order.

Does what it is advertised to do ... extend the location of the hitch ball.

The product came promptly and the price was competative. I'll continue to use etrailer as my source for trailer parts as I need them.

by:

This was the fastest I have ever received an item I ordered online , and the item was ten times more than I expected , the hitch receiver is made of good three eights thick tubeing and solid two inch thick stock material , the heavy duty extention will never ever wear out , great product and I will order from etrailer again and again , great job guys ,and American Made

by:

No more bikes rubbing against the the back of motorhome. Great product.

by:

This item was exactly what I wanted and arrived on time. etrailer always comes through when I need something associated with towing.

by:

The product arrived a head of suggested delivery. The extension was well built and works great

by:

I haven't hook up this yet.... I believe this will work well for the cargo carrier in order of me to open/close the rear SUV rear door...

by:

Quality product. Very well made. Delivery was fast. I'd order this product again.

by:

Easy to navigate website, good selection of product and had the inventory to get my order shipped out immediately. Also they had great communication all the way from order placement to delivery. If i need anything else, i'll be back.

by:

Perfect length for my Jeep since I have the back tire to deal with. Very heavy duty! Highly recommend for fellow Jeepers!

by:

Great product.

by:

Solid steel in the smaller part makes it heavy and strong, I don't think this will ever break

by:

A 8" # 80307 or 14" # HE12 Hitch Extender will not lower the line pulling capacity for the Curt Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver # C31015 on your 2015 Ram 2500. If you use the extenders for a hitch mounted accessory or with a trailer is the only time the maximum capacity will be reduced with an extender. We do have hitch extenders that will work with a 2-inch trailer htich receiver. There are tongue weight and trailer weight ratings for the extenders you need to pay close attention to. Please note that using a hitch extender will decrease the weight capacity of your trailer hitch by 50 percent. The Hitch Extender For 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver 14" Long part # HE12 as with any hitch extender will reduce the towing weight capacity of the vehicle. The amount at which the weight capacity is reduced will be 1/3 of the capacity or 3,500 lbs, whichever is lower. • Why Do Hitch Extenders Reduce Hitch Capacity
Hitch extenders like the Kuat # HL20B and similar items # C45791, # C45795 and # HE12 do give you more clearance to install a hitch accessory like the SportRack Ridge Swing 4 Bike Rack # SR2415 but the trouble is these extenders also reduce the hitch's tongue weight (TW) capacity by 50-percent. All adapters like these push the actual weight of the loaded bike rack further away from the hitch and this means the rack's weight will put more stress on the hitch. The extra connection point...

  • How do Hitch Adapters and Extenders Reduce Hitch Weight Capacities
Using an additional extender, like part # HE12, is very different than the rack, like part # K2TMC201, having a lengthy shank. Welded to the other end, is a piece of tube with a 2x2 inside dimension. That joint is a weak spot. This is a large part of why most of the extenders have a 50 percent...
