Video Transcript for In-Depth Review of the Curt Hitch Receiver Reducer Sleeve

Brad Hello, neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer and today we're taking a look at the Curt Reducer Sleeve that's gonna take our receiver tube opening from a two and a half in to a two inch. So, if you have that two inch ball mount and you've upgraded to a heavier dutier truck and or maybe you just have a couple trucks in your fleet no worries. You're not going go have to buy a whole separate ball mount. You can go ahead, put that sleeve in place and be able to put your two inch ball, no problem. I really like that I can from my pickup with a two inch receiver to my diesel with a two and a half inch without having to get any additional equipment. Now it also has two notches on here which makes it nice and easy.

That way when you slide this in you can't push it too far. It's not gonna get stuck in there, you're always gonna have a little edge here to be able to pull that out if you do need to go back to that two and a half. Now what's also nice is you're not gonna need a special pin and clip. You'll just be able to slide this through. You'll align your holes and then your normal pin and clip will go through, holding that all in place.

Now you can see that our ball mount has seen better days as it's starting to rust but the great part about this being steel construction with that black powder coat finish, that's gonna hold up against that rust and corrosion so you're not gonna see that transferring over for a long time. And that was a look at the Curt Reducer Sleeve, going from a two and a half inch to a two inch..

  • Can Reducer Sleeve Be Used With Blue Ox SwayPro
You definitely don't want to use the Curt since your 2023 Jayco Jay Flight 280RKS weighs 6,495 lbs with nothing in it. With that kind of rating on it I'm guessing you got a reducer and extension. Your typical reducer sleeve does not have a weight rating on it since it doesn't reduce hitch capacity. For example, our note on the Curt # C45405 states that the weight capacity is limited to the rated capacity of your hitch receiver. The same is true for the etrailer # e26YR. If you would rather...

  • Adapter Recommendation for a Yakima Bike Rack for Use in a Class V Hitch
Since you have a hitch with a 2-1/2 inch opening you can still use the hitch bolt that came with your Yakima rack designed for 2 inch hitches. You will need to use a hitch reducer for the hitch so that it will have a 2 inch opening. For that I would recommend the part # C45405. You would just need to thread the bolt through the reducer into the rack threads and it would be secured. The bolt in the # Y8780022 isn't any longer than what you have with your current rack so it would not give...

  • Best Front Trailer Hitches for a 2013 Chevy Silverado 2500 Diesel
Both Curt front hitch # C31023 and Draw-Tite hitch # 65078 will fit your 2013 Chevy Silverado 2500 with the diesel motor. Both companies list the hitches as a fit for all models of the '13 Silverado 2500, among other models. I have linked videos showing example installations of both hitches for you.

  • Shank Recommendation for 10 Inches of Drop for Husky Centerline HT32217
In order to do a 10 inch drop with your Husky Centerline Weight Distribution system part # HT32217 you'd need the drop shank part # C17125 which can actually do a drop of up to 15-3/4 inches.

  • Recommended Bike Rack for a 2019 Ford F-250 with 2-1/2 Inch Hitch
For your 2019 Ford F-250, I recommend the Kuat NV 2.0 Base 2-Bike Platform Rack part # BA22B which will do an excellent job with your two e-bikes. The Kuat NV 2.0 is one of the more quality, well made bike racks on the market. It has a wheel mount design so it won't be a problem with your lack of a horizontal frame tube and it has a 60 lb per bike weight capacity. The main reason however that I recommend the Kuat NV 2.0 is because it has a one-piece 2" shank. The majority of bike racks...

  • Hitch Reducer Sleeve to Allow Use of 2-Inch Weight Distribution Shank in 2-1/2-Inch Hitch Receiver
To convert your truck's 2-1/2-inch Class V hitch to a 2-inch opening for use with a 2-inch weight distribution shank you can use the Curt part # C45405. This reducer sleeve is fully compatible with weight distribution systems and other 2-inch hitch-mounted accessories. You can click on the two linked videos for more information. You will also want to check your hitch's safety ticker to confirm it is rated for use with weight distribution.

We have the B and W 2-1/2 inch to 2 inch hitch adapter part # BWRHXA2182 which has two sets of pin holes at different depths to install more flush like you are wanting. One set of the holes was specifically designed for the Ford hitches like you have.

  • How to Use a Blue Ox SwayPro w/ a 2-1/2" Hitch Receiver
No, it does not but there are a couple of options to make them work with a 2-1/2" receiver. The Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution item # BXW1006 and item # BXW1000 are only sold with 2" shanks. The least expensive option is to use the Curt Hitch Receiver Reducer Sleeve item # C45405. This inserts into your 2-1/2" receiver and doesn't lower your capacity. It has been confirmed to work with weight distribution systems. I think this will answer your question about making up the difference....

  • Front and Rear Row Floor Mats for 2021 Ford F-350 Super Duty
For your 2021 Ford F-350 we have the front WeatherTech floor mat set part # WT4410321 which covers the center hump as well. Then for the rear seat you'd want the part # WT4410122 and you'd be set. We don't have a hitch lock at this time that fits a 3 inch hitch and keys to your Ford key. For a 2-1/2 inch to 2 inch hitch adapter we have the part # C45405.

If you are using a hitch reducer sleeve such as the Curt # C45402 in your Ram 2500's 2-1/2-inch hitch to allow it to work with 2-inch hitch accessories, then yes you can use the B&W Tow & Stow Pintle Hook # BWTS10055 along with extra-long hitch lock # SHP2040-XL. The B&W has a hollow shank which is required to use this anti-rattle lock.

  • Availability of Dual Hitch Receiver Adapter for 2-1/2" Trailer Hitch Receiver
I believe you are looking for a dual hitch receiver adapter like the Roadmaster # RM-077-6 that's directly compatible with the 2-1/2" receiver on your Ford F-250. While there isn't an adapter like this available that's designed for 2-1/2" receivers, you can still use a 2" model like this one by simply adding a reducer sleeve like # C45405 to your truck's receiver. This will reduce the 2-1/2" receiver to a 2" opening so that this and other 2" accessories can be used. I have attached a...

  • Weight Distribution System Recommendation for a Trailer Weighing 14,000 lbs
Manufacturer weight capacities must always be adhered to. If Ford says that you can't tow more than 12,500 lbs using a hitch reducer then that is what you need to use as a capacity. Sounds like you are planning on towing a heavy trailer. Replacing your hitch and then getting a WD system would be one option, but it most likely wouldn't be cost effective. It sounds like you are trying to tow a trailer that is heavy enough that your vehicle calls for the use of a WD system. Going to a different...

  • Recommendation for Upgrading to 18K Trailer Hitch on 2006 Chevy Silverado
Going to an 18,000 pound rated trailer hitch on your 2006 Chevy Silverado 3500 will indeed require you to switch to a 2-1/2 inch receiver. This is not a problem though because as you mentioned we have various adapters available such as the Curt # C45405 that will reduce this opening to 2 inches so you can continue to use your existing accessories. Because the sleeve slides into the hitch receiver it won't restrict the use of your accessories at all in terms of capacity or function and it...

  • Clevis Draw Bar Recommendation to fit a 2-1/2 inch Hitch
I have a solution for you, but the part number AMCC2HD has been discontinued so your best option would be to get the # AMCC2 that you referenced and then use the Curt adapter part # C45405 to adapt it to fit a 2-1/2 inch hitch.

  • Compatibility of Trailer Hitch Reducer Sleeve or 2-1/2 Inch WD Shank For New Truck Compatibility
A reducer like the Curt Reducer Sleeve 2-1/2" to 2" # C45405 will work with your current shank without any loss of capacity. Because there is another moving part, it may give you slightly more noise than using a 2-1/2 inch shank like # C17131 which will give you the 2 inch drop you referenced. If it were me, I'd use the Curt reducer sleeve.

  • How to Reduce a 2.5" Hitch to a 2" Hitch Receiver While Also Providing Drop
If I am following you correctly, I think what you are looking for is a drop hitch that has a 2.5" shank for your truck and then the part that drops is a 2" receiver. So essentially a hitch reducer that also supplies a drop. If that is correct, we do have a couple options. - Gen-Y Phantom X Adjustable 2-Ball Mount # GY35XR (up to a 5" Drop) - Gen-Y Phantom X Adjustable 2-Ball Mount # GY95XR (up to a 7-1/2" Drop) Your other option would be to use a reducer sleeve like the Curt Hitch Receiver...

  • Anti-Rattle Device for 2-1/2-Inch Hitch Suitable for Use with Reducer Sleeve
The threaded anti-rattle hitch bolt included with the Yakima LongArm Truck Bed Load Extender # Y01149 will not be long enough to work properly in a 2-1/2-inch hitch with a reducer sleeve like # C45405. You certainly can still use another type of anti-rattle device, such as the Roadmaster Quiet Hitch for 2-1/2-Inch Trailer Hitches # RM-062. You will still use the pin supplied by Yakima.

The Buyers Products Hitch Extender # 3371804015 will reduce the weight capacity of your receiver by 1/3rd of its capacity. You will need to verify your capacities on your receiver on your 2021 Ford F-250 to ensure that you are not going to exceed both the tongue weight and total trailer capacity with this extender to use it with your Jayco 264 travel trailer. • Recommended Hitch for a 2020 Ford F-450 Cab and Chassis
It's either the exhaust, fuel tank, or both that causes a hitch to fit a diesel model and not a gas one. Like you said the frame wouldn't be different. Either way I checked with Torklift and I can confirm that their SuperHitch Magnum Trailer Hitch item # TL76CR is only designed to fit the 2020 Ford F-450 cab and chassis with the diesel engines. There is no Torklift option for your gas model so you'll need to go with another hitch. The highest capacity custom hitch we have for the 2020...

  • Can an Equal-I-zer Weight Distribution System be Used with a 2-1/2 to 2 Inch Reducer
The best option would be to replace the shank that came with Equal-I-zer system # EQ37100ET with one that fits directly in a 2-1/2 inch receiver. There are 3 Equal-I-zer options: # EQ90-02-4900 with 6 inch drop or 10 inch rise # EQ90-02-4800 with 4 inch drop or 8 inch rise # EQ90-02-4700 with 3 inch drop or 7 inch rise For some 2-1/2 inch hitches the use of a reducer sleeve such as # C45405 will reduce the capacity of the hitch so I would check on that first before getting a sleeve if...
