Great. Extended my hitch just enough to keep my truck bumper from hitting my v-nose trailer. It greatly reduces the weight ratio, but length works out great.

Actually I bought a superduty and took extender out. Went with new B&W hitch on new truck. But the extender worked great on the f150

Bought a new car, and the lift gate was larger than last model. Bam! Ran right into my bike rack. So I ordered this hitch extension, and viola, the bike rack is now about 6' further out from the lift gate, and everything works great. Bonus: I don't have to manipulate the bike handlebar to open the lift gate. Excellent quality, and tight fit. I used a bolt rather than a cotter pin to attach the bike rack, as I could crank it down a bit better to reduce sway and noise.

Works well, allows for oversized spare tire on the back of the Jeep to clear the teardrop trailer tongue jack. *** Packaging was horrible. Placed in a cardboard box w/ no packing material, box was destroyed on arrival, and damaged / chipped paint. If you are going to charge us for shipping at least package the product so it will not be destroyed in normal shipping ***

I have yet to use it because the trailer is winterized and in storage. I anticipate the extension will do the intended job. etrailer was awesome in the customer service department since the box originally delivered was empty(no extension or anything else in the box). I called immediately and they reshipped the extension the same day. The effort on their part to make a customer happy was extraordinary!

Put a receiver underneath my travel trailer and I needed to Ring the receiver out 8 inches from underneath the trailer and it fit perfect and it’s heavy duty And with the anti-rattle device I got from etrailer it works perfect.

- C45791
by:

I got this for my side by side as the receiver was mounted too far underneath the unit to be practical. This adapter moved it out to just the right spot. I use my SxS to move my trailers around my property mostly, & it works great.

- C45791
by:

My UTV’s hitch receiver is so far under the bed that it makes hooking up anything with a ball mount nearly impossible. Enter the Curt Hitch Extender, which provided a solid, heavy-duty extra bit of reach for my hitch. I paired it with the Curt Ball Mount for 2" ATV Hitches - 2" Ball and Clevis Bar (C44009) and I can hook up pretty much anything I need.

- C45791

The hitch extender arrived on time (actually earlier than promised) and packaged very well. I've ordered other items from etrailer before with the same excellent service. Reason enough to continue doing business with them. Great job folks!!

- C45791
by:

I purchased this extension to use with my front end Curt Class 3 receiver hitch. This setup was installed for use of my Warn Wench that is installed in a portable receiver cradle that I use on either the front or rear of my truck. I chose this extension because of the solid shank that made it stronger than most other I shopped. As all extensions reduce the hitch weight rating, this one provided the least amount of reduction. I am very happy with my purchase and it works as advertised.

- C45791
by:

Great product, excellent website, very user friendly (the "how to" videos were especially helpful in making sure the product I was ordering was the right one), highly responsive customer relations department. The hitch extender worked correctly the first time, and fits perfectly with my new Thule bike rack (see photos). I highly recommend eTrailer!

- C45791
by:

I ordered the wrong hitch for (8) Sprinters, but with a tad of alteration and this extender they worked. Got them quick!! Service is great and turnaround time is too!!

- C45791
by:

Weld was sloppy, could not fit deep enough into hitch to secure with pin, had to take grinder and grind 3/4 inch of sloppy eels to make it fit

- C45791
by:

The shaft length of a standard insert for a receiver hitch was too short to allow towing a 96 gallon trash can because the trash can lid was wedged against the tailgate of the ATV. The hitch extender has added sufficient length that the lid hinge can be dropped onto the trailer ball without being wedged against the tailgate.

Still working as intended with no downtime or difficulties.. also useful as an easy tiedown point when transporting the atv on a flatbed trailer.

Received the 8” extension and it does exactly what I needed it to do. Matches up nicely with the Curt hitch on my SUV. Now I need not worry about how closely my trailers come to the rear end. Fast delivery and great support.

- C45791

Well built, nicely finished. Too bad I need to grind off 3 sides of the paint to weld it on to my trailer!

- C45791

Allows me to put my deer hoist out further from the tailgate, so I can lower my tailgate and get my deer out.

High quality extender, ideal to mount bike rack when you have a spare on the vehicle like I do.

The hitch extension is heavy duty and I’m extremely happy with the quality. Service was superb and received the product in 2 days. Happy, happy, happy. Before and after photos are included.

This extender worked perfectly. It is the perfect length to clear the spare tire on my Jeep. I haven’t noticed any problems with the additional tongue weight that this supposedly adds. It’s a better solution than removing my spare tire. I’m pulling a 17.5 foot bass boat.

Way too much play between it and the receptacle. I use it for a bicycle rack and the whole thing wobbles too much. I still use it, but it's unnerving.

  • How to Determine if Thule Roadway 2-Bike Rack Will Clear 2017 Jeep Wrangler Spare Tire
While it is likely the Thule Roadway 2-Bike Rack # TH912XTR will fit and clear the spare tire on your 2017 Jeep Wrangler, to make sure this (or any other Thule rack) can clear, you'll need to do a quick measurement. Just take something with a straight edge like a yardstick and hold it against the back of your Jeep's spare tire and then use a tape measure to find the distance from the center of your hitch pin hole to the straight edge and that's the amount of clearance you will need...

  • Effect on Hitch Tongue Weight Capacity from Use of Hitch Extension
You are correct that increasing the distance between the hitch receiver and the actual load on it will also increase the leverage applied to the hitch. And this DOES indeed reduce the hitch's rated capacity. Hitch extensions, even fairly short ones like the 8-inch Curt # C45791, will cost you HALF of the hitch's rated tongue weight capacity. The physics of using adapters is more complicated than just the increased distance. Use of an adapter also allows for more motion of the suspended...
