I have a bigger tire behind my jeep. Needed the extra length for my bike rack. Works perfectly. Thank you!

Works perfectly for my application. The 12” hitch extender has provided full access to the truck bed and full use of my beach cart when attached.

Product as advertised. Fit perfectly in my 2012 Jeep Wrangler factory receiver. Also purchased an Anti-Rattle receiver lock (Part #63232) which has everything fitting nice and snug. Now ready to mount our Softride 4-bike rack and go!

Needed this as i have a big spare tire. It gave a good clearance to attach my bike rack.

I needed to extend my bike rack out from the back of my camping trailer so the bikes would clear the spare tire. It works great.

I purchased the MT70024 so I could use the cargo carrier on the rear of our fifth wheel camper. The spare tire on the camper's rear bumper prevented direct attachment of the CC-100 without the extension. The MT70024 worked fine.

worked great on my 26 ft fifth wheel. it gave me enough room on the hitch to clear interference with the rear mounted spare tire.

Needed extension to get hitch mounted bike rack on my wife's jeep to clear the spare tire. Worked out great - qickly shipped and good value. thanks.

All is good. Works just great!

Just what I was looking for,I have a Hummer and with the large spare on the rear I could not put a lift for my handicap scooter on the back, but with this extender problem was solved. The service from etrailer was great it seemed as if it arrived overnight.I added yellow reflectors to each side to keep me from banging into it in low light.Overall great product

Using the extender will lower the tongue weight capacity maximum amount of weight that can be safely suspended from your hitch by half. For instance, if your current hitch tongue weight capacity is 400 lbs, using the extender will lower that by half to 200 lbs. This would mean that the mobility scooter and the carrier could weigh no more than 200 lbs. Your hitch will have a sticker somewhere on it that lists its gross towing and tongue weight capacity.

A much-needed item when pulling my utility trailer with my Jeep. This allows a greater distance between the Jeep and the trailer so I can clear the trailer's a-frame mounted landing gear/support leg from the Jeep's spare tire when I open the back door.

Were glad to hear that the extender is working well for you. Please keep in mind that using an extender will reduce the towing and the tongue weight capacity of your trailer hitch by half. The extra length of the extender moves the trailer tongue weight further away from the hitch, which increases the leverage place on the hitch and its attachment points to the vehicle.

Pulling a double axle 16' flatbed with 2 to 4 quads on it. Product works well. No back and forth sway. More stable then I anticipated it would be. Plenty of clearance for the back of my 10' slide-in camper, the reason for buying this product in the first place. I would recommend this, but be mindful of the tongue weight on the hitch.

The staff at etrailer made my buying experience nothing short unforgettable...they are prompt on receiving your order and processing it in a timely fashion. In my case I was confused on what it was I exactly needed; they emailed me a number of options that would accommodate my needs with budget and price range in mind. This is the second time I have purchased from etrailer and they made me feel like family; they can count on me being a long term customer from here on out! And last but not least the product speaks for itself. Towing a trailer from state to state can make you a sceptic of your equipments endurance and toughness; I know my hitch and components are one less thing I need to worry about...

Purchased hitch ball, ball mount, hitch extender, wiring extension, safety chain extension, and storage bags for a Jeep Liberty. ETrailer has a great selection of products, with good prices, and fast shipping. We will definitely buy from them again.
We have not had an opportunity to use the items purchased, but anticipate no problems.

I was struggling to make a bike rack work on a Jeep Wrangler 2-door with spare tire.

First, the phone rep was excellent, providing thoughtful comments and advice. She helped me make a good decision. She took all the time necessary for a small, purchase price. The hitch extension worked perfectly. The locking hitch pin was easy to install and provides Great security. Not a rattle to be heard. Moreover, I can now open my tailgate to access the rear and transport three bikes on a Wrangler.

This trailer hitch extension gets to the edge of the rear step on my 6,700 GVW Chevy cut Away van with the 16 foot Unicellular body. Unfortunately, it cuts the 10,000 pound towing capacity down to 5,000 pounds.

Works as presented. I forgot to order a second hitch pin; I wish it came with one since you can't use it without two of them. I did get some rattling over rough payment that was clearly coming from the hitch connection - although it may have been the trailer coupler and not a result of the slight play between the receiver and extension. I wished it had a threaded pin hole so as to allow for the extension to be tightened down.

This product (manufactured in China) is sturdy with nice, heavy coats of paint.
On the advice of the expert, I purchased this 12 inch extender for my Thule T2 pro XT (trailer hitch mount) platform bike rack. As it turns out, an 8 inch extension would have been a better choice for my stock 2017 Jeep Wrangler (with OEM sized spare tire). Oh well.

My son and I did a fit check and it’s going to work . My spear tire was in the way, of us putting a bike rack on. And now it will happen. Thanks

It worked out great. We went on a road trip and took our bikes without this product it might not have jappen

I love this company. I have always gotten exactly what I order and promptly. These people have great customer service. I ordered a hitch extender and spare tire rack for my ATV it is well made and works great. They always have what I need. I only wish I found there WEB site years ago. Very nice people and the prices cant be beat. Thanks etrailer for everything you have done for me. I will always recommend your company and continue to purchase items from you. The trailer hitch 12" extension is exactly what I needed. Excellent quality, I needed to be able to open the tailgate without unhooking
my trailer, which was always a hassle with the A-frame jack. Problem was solved with the extension. As always etrailer came through again. Great Job!

The MaxxTow 12” hitch extension fits perfectly for clearing my spare tire for my bike rack. Angela was extremely helpful when I called to get the exact measurements of the extension. Shipping was fassst !! Thanks etrailer......u guys rock !!!

Was totally blown away by the service, Great Job. I ordered on Friday and it was shipped on Friday Afternoon... The Product 2" to 2" x 12" extension is exactly what I ordered and ready to use..What more can you ask for.. Maxx Tow Hitch Awesome!!!

I could not find this part in any store. Found on-line & it works Great!

A much needed extension for the rear of my class C motorhome. Gives more turning space for the trailer in tight turns.More clearance because the trailer has a front mounted tool box.

Exactly the product that I needed to install my Thule bike rack on my Jeep Wrangler trailer hitch. Thanks etrailer!

Awesome; the extension was needed to fit a Tule hitch mount bike rack to our, Jeep.

  • Is a Hitch Extender Recommended for Bike Carrier to Clear Spare Tire on a Travel Trailer
Using a hitch extender such as # MT70024 will reduce the tongue weight capacity of the trailer hitch by 50 percent. It will all add additional stress to the hitch and to where it is mounted on your travel trailer. I do not recommend using an extender. Since you already have a bike rack that is compatible with the travel trailer the best solution would be to stow the spare tire in an alternate location. The benefit is that it won't cost you any money to do so and you will not have to worry...

  • Clearance Behind Rear Mounted Spare Tire On Hummer H2
To determine if there is enough clearance from the rear mounted spare tire on your Hummer H2 for a Cargo or Motorcycle Carrier or hitch mounted bike rack you will want to take a couple measurements. You will need a tape measure and a straight edge, like a yardstick or a dowel. Hold the straight edge vertically against the back of the spare tire, and make sure the straight edge extends below the hitch pin hole on your hitch. Then measure the distance from the center of the hitch pin hole...

From the hitch pin hole that fits into the hitch receiver of your vehicle to the weld stop where the MaxxTow Hitch Extender # MT70024 expands is about 4-1/4 inches. From pin hole to pin hole is about 12 inches and the entire length is about 17 inches. There's also about 5-1/2 inches from the other side of the weld stop to the other pin hole. I've attached images that show all of the measurements I've mentioned.

  • Maximum Tongue Weight Capacity of MT70024 Hitch Extender if Used With Weight Distribution Bars
The maximum tongue weight capacity in any circumstance for the # MT70024 hitch extender is 350 lbs. Keep in mind, though that using an extender will reduce the tongue weight and towing capacity of your hitch by 50% which will limit you to whatever the capacity of your lowest-rated component is. Because using the extender will reduce the tongue weight capacity to a large degree, I wouldn't recommend using an extender. • Can Rola Enclosed Cargo Carrier # 59109 Be Used with Hitch Extension
If you use a hitch extender like the part # MT70024 you end up cutting the capacity of the hitch it's used in by 50 percent. So if you have a 350 lb tongue weight capacity that means you'd have a 175 lb capacity left over with the extension. The Rola carrier part # 59109 weighs 100 lbs so you'd have 75 lbs left of capacity with the extension. If you can get by with only carrying 75 lbs as the max this would work fine. I don't recommend using the swing away feature with the carrier as...

  • Trailer Hitch and Extender Recommendation for a 4 inch Bumper on RV
The Curt hitch part # E-100 will fit a 4 inch square RV bumper like what you have on your fifth wheel and has a 350 lb tongue weight capacity. The thing about using extenders is that they reduce the hitch capacity by 50 percent. So you would only have 175 lbs of capacity with the # E-100 and an extender like part # MT70024. You also will need to determine what the capacity is for your bumper as well and be sure not to exceed half of it's weight rating with the weight of what you plan to carry.

Hitch extenders typically cut the capacity of the hitch they are used on in half. However, if you have a 2-1/2 inch hitch installed the part # HR26 would be perfect as it is right at 12 inches. The good news is that with a 2-1/2 inch hitch the extenders only cut the capacity by 25 percent instead. If you have a 2 inch hitch on your truck you instead would want the part # MT70024.
