Perfect for adding bike rack on top of Nighthawk tow hitch

by:

WOW, need I say more! I ordered this on a Thursday with no expectation as to when it would get there, thinking sometime the following week. I didn't even bother to see when it would get there yet and to my surprise there it was on Saturday. The icing on the cake, I didn't pay anything for delivery. Thank you etrailer!

by:

Beefy. I have no doubts of the capacity of either side of this hitch adapter, there's plenty of weld to hold it all together. Very few options will provide minimal drop (for an off-road trailer) and minimal rise on the other side for an additional bike rack or cargo carrier. Jeeps are tough since you need to be able to open the gate. This one clears no problem. My spare is up on a slant back carrier, but I think the stock spare should clear as well. Get you a "Trimax THC200 Universal Anti-Rattle Clamp Fits 2" Hitch" and this thing is solid as stone.

by:

Works great and quality construction.

Comments
Use it often when towing our car with our RV, WORKS WELL AS DESIGNED.

by:

Never disappointed with etrailer orders. Product ships quickly and correctly.

by:

Perfect for my needs. I use the top hitch for a bike rack and the bottom for pulling my toad. I did need to get longer cables for my particular tow bar. You may not need to with yours. For now, I leave the receiver on the RV with the bike rack attached so I am ready to go should I need to pull my toad. I have so far driven over 3000 miles with out a problem.

by:

The product was well built, the receiver end was solid so the Anti-Rattle lock would not have worked as it requires hollow receiver. This is a 10,000 pound rated product. I intended to use to add my existing bike rack and Tow bar together, but the bike rack prevented the Tow bar from being added and so I had to send it back and get a different bike rack that fit on my Tow bar. I did keep one of the locks and added to my Alpha Tow bar for Anti-Rattle and Locking.

by:

The hitch adapter is well constructed... and we're testing it out this weekend. I may want to change to an adapter with a 4" drop... The 2" drop lets the bicycle carrier interfere with the Blue Ox tow bar... I'm thinking that using the 4" drop, and turning it upside down so that the bike carrier rides higher would give more space for the Blue Ox tow bar... Not your fault, will I be able to exchange the 2" drop adapter for a 4" drop adapter?

by:

My hitch extension bent and I was in desperate need for a replacement. etrailer and Adam made the process a breeze. We found the correct part, it was shipped out that day and arrived right on schedule. The customer Service and follow up have been outstanding!

by:

The hitch I received from you was delivered quickly and in Great shape! I am More than impressed with the quality and workmanship of your hitch! It will be getting plenty of use, towing my jeep behind my RV! Hank you again!

by:

It worked great. Just what I needed

by:

Item promptly shipped and delivered! Still waiting for my new RV to get delivered to try it out.

I have bought many products from eTrailer and have always been happy with their products, prices and service!

by:

Good product, allows bicycles to be carried above hitch that tows our vehicle.

by:

Gives enough clearance for attaching the bike rack and working with the Blue Ox. Perfect solution for using more than one receiver at a time.

by:

Use this behind our motorhome with a toad car. No issues

by:

Great product, well built. Fast Shippin g.

by:

Doesnt fit correctly with my trailer even though the rep said it would. dont bother trying the return it though, 100% satisfaction guarantee if bull. if you try mounting to your rig, it is no longer new. eTrailer sucks.

by:

great co. to buy from

  • High-Low Adapter for Flat Towing a Vehicle and Carrying a Bike Rack at the Same Time
A lot depends on the tow bar you are using, the hitch height, and the vehicle being flat towed. The 2 inch drop on # RM-077-2 would be fine if you are using a tow bar that has a shank that fits into a receiver rather than the type that has a coupler which would be more likely to interfere. The 4 inch drop, # RM-077-4, does have better clearance but like you said that will change the angle of the tow bar. You will want the tow bar to be as level as possible. Each tow bar has a little bit...

  • Availability of Dual Hitch Adapter With No Drop
Having your towbar within 3 inches high or low of level is perfectly acceptable, according to Blue Ox and Roadmaster. If the # RM-077-4 would allow the towbar to be within that amount plus or minus of level, the dual hitch adapter would work just fine. We don't have any dual hitch adapters that have a receiver that would be inline with that of the coach.

  • Can Dual Hitch Extension be Used to Carry Bikes Behind RV While Flat Towing a 2005 Dodge Dakota
The 2 dual hitch adapters that you want to look into are the Roadmaster options because they were designed for the exact reason for what you are wanting to do. Part # RM-077-4 has a 4" Rise/Drop while part # RM-077-2 has a 2-1/4" Rise/Drop. You will want to be sure that you choose the one that allows you to flat tow your 2005 Dodge Dakota level (see attached article). Both adapters have the same Tongue Weight (TW) capacity of 400 lbs and Gross Towing Weight (GTW) capacity of 10,000 lbs....

  • How To Carry Bikes and Use a Tow Bar On the Back Of An RV
In order to carry bikes on the back of an RV and still use a tow bar you'll need to look into a dual high, high-low adapter like the Roadmaster Dual Hitch Receiver Adapter for Tow Bars part # RM-077-2. This adapter is also offered in a few other rises/drops like part # RM-077-4 and part # RM-077-6.

  • Can Roadmaster Dual Hitch Receiver Adapter, Part # RM-077-2, be Used with a Towing Dolly
The Roadmaster Dual Hitch Receiver Adapter, Part # RM-077-2, has a rated tongue weight capacity of 400 pounds. Its intended purpose is to allow use of an accessory such as a bike carrier or cargo carrier at the same time that a tow bar is being used, however, it can be used while towing a dolly as well. Just not a trailer. Please keep in mind that any type of hitch extender or hitch adapter will reduce the tongue weight capacity of the hitch on which it is installed by 50%.

  • Does Using Roadmaster Dual Receiver Reduce Trailer Hitch Tongue Weight Capacity when Flat Towing
In a flat towing situation the use of an adapter like # RM-077-2 does NOT reduce the tongue weight capacity of the trailer hitch because there is very little tongue weight on it when flat towing a vehicle. So you can use this adapter to flat tow your Jeep and to carry a bike rack. In a regular towing situation like towing a trailer and not a vehicle, the use of an adapter or extender reduces the tongue weight capacity of the hitch by 50 percent. This is because the additional length of...

  • Can I Use The Roadmaster Dual Hitch Receiver Adapter # RM-077-2 With My Blue Ox Tow Bar
If your Blue Ox tow bar is an RV mounted tow bar, then part # RM-077-2 will work if your receiver is a 2 inch by 2 inch receiver. An RV mounted tow bar will have the shank to fit into one of the 2 inch by 2 inch openings of part # RM-077-2. If your Blue Ox tow bar is a vehicle mounted tow bar, then part # RM-077-2 will not work, as it will have a ball mount coupler on the end of the tow bar. As long as your Blue Ox tow bar is an RV mounted tow bar, as it would disconnect from the vehicle...

  • Towing a 2008 Ford Explorer and Carrying a Bike Rack at the Same Time
Roadmaster dual receiver, # RM-077-2, with its 2 inch drop and rise is going to be the best option. A dual receiver that exits straight out of the hitch and has a high enough capacity for the 5,000 pound 2008 Ford Explorer is not available. Most tow bars have a slight range that they will work within (normally 3 inches up or down from level). Consult the manual for your tow bar to determine its range.

  • Clearance Dimensions of Roadmaster Dual Hitch Reciever With 2 Inch Rise
The distance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the back side of the receiver openings is 6-3/4 inches. From hitch pin hole to hitch pin hole on receiver openings is 10-1/4 inches. If you are simply looking for an extension and not necessarily two receiver openings, we have several extensions available in various sizes. I have included a link to all of our 2 inch extension parts. Please note that using one of these extenders will reduce hitch capacity by 50 percent.

  • Can Roadmaster Dual Hitch # RM-077-2 be Used When Flat Towing Grand Cherokee
The Roadmaster dual hitch adapter part # RM-077-2 would work well for flat towing your Grand Cherokee with an Avail tow bar. It was designed for flat towing and has a 10k weight capacity so it would easily handle the weight of your vehicle. It would add 9-1/8 inches to the distance between your RV hitch and the tow bar.

  • What is Tongue Weight Capacity of Roadmaster Dual Hitch Receiver Adapter # RM-077-2
The 400 lb tongue weight capacity of the Roadmaster Dual Hitch Receiver Adapter # RM-077-2 that you referenced is the overall tongue weight capacity of all accessories installed in either hitch opening. • Is There A Hitch Riser for a Bike Rack on the Back of a Motorhome
It is not ideal to use any sort of hitch extension with a bike rack, especially on the back of a motorhome. There is simply too much stress on the bike rack due to the rough ride. That said, if the bike rack makes contact with the road there is really only one option. There are no rules against using a hitch adapter with a bike rack on a motorhome. It will however reduce the weight capacity of the hitch most likely. The Roadmaster Dual Hitch Receiver Adapter part # RM-077-2 most closely...
