TorkLift SuperTruss in SuperHitch

This SuperTruss hitch extender is specially designed to work with your SuperHitch trailer hitch (sold separately). Like most products from TorkLift, the primary purpose of this extender is to help create a towing setup that fits perfectly with your truck bed camper system. Not only will you be able to extend your trailer hitch receiver out far enough to clear the overhang of your camper, but you will also maintain a high enough weight capacity so that you can tow your trailer.

Heavy-Duty Towing with a Hitch Extension

Most hitch extensions dramatically reduce the towing capacity of your hitch setup, making it difficult to tow a loaded trailer over a certain weight. The SuperTruss, though, creates such a sturdy connection with your SuperHitch trailer hitch that you can still maintain a high weight capacity. To get the highest capacity possible, use a standard weight distribution system with the TorkLift towing setup.

The SuperTruss uses both of the receivers on your TorkLift SuperHitch to ensure a sturdy, secure connection. The solid shank of the extension's top tube slides into your top receiver, and the extension's lower compression tube installs in your bottom receiver. Each tube is held in place with the hitch pins and clips that were included with your SuperHitch. The connection between the extension and your hitch is reinforced with 2 sturdy steel collars that bolt around the tubes of the SuperTruss.

To give you absolute peace of mind, lateral support chains connect to the hitch and the extension on either side of your setup. Just attach one end of each chain to the extension and secure the opposite end to your SuperHitch. Then tighten the chains with the integrated turnbuckles. These chains not only provide extra security to keep the extension in place in your hitch, but they also transfer some of the weight back from the extension to your frame-mounted hitch.

How to Determine the SuperTruss Length You Need

If the camper is mounted on the truck:

Measure from the face of the truck's rear bumper to the outside edge of the camper's bumper. This is the length of the extension that you need.

If the camper is not mounted on the truck:

1. Measure from the inside of the front of your truck bed to the outside face of the truck's rear bumper.

2. Measure the camper's overall floor length from the rubber bumpers at the front to the outside edge of the rear bumper.

3. Find the difference between these 2 figures by subtracting. The difference is the length of the extension that you need.

Don’t forget the trailer light extension like I did.

Superior Product, Couldn't have been be tter!

by:

A Great experience. Everything came together as expected. Thank you!

by:

The last piece of the puzzle. Pretty stout construction. Easy to assemble. Just pulled a 7000 gvw trailer behind my af992 camper. Flawless. Dont forget to order the pigtail extension.

by:

Ordered the 28"supertruss to utilize with my recently dealer installed super hitch. The bottom truss extension piece fits way to tight, and requires a mallet to install to the proper depth for the pin. The pin holes and the hitch holes are slightly out of alinement, again requiring a mallet to drive the pin both in and out. The top truss extension fits perfectly, but once you bolt them together the misfiting bottom truss piece makes it impossible to align the assembled truss into the receiver. Overall I'm confident the the product will work as intended, but the torklift manufacturing process could use some significant refinement. I will use as is and hope that with a little wear the tolerances in the bottom truss will loosen up enough to allow installation without complete disassembly and a mallet. I expected more from a Torklift product. the etrailer ordering and delivery process was as usual flawless.

I have contacted the manufacturer and they have confirmed that it is common for these items to be a tight fit however grinding or smoothing out the pin holes or truss shank wouldnt hurt the integrity, but it can affect the powder coat which could potentially result in rust build up.

I have used Forklift tie downs for my camper for years and really like the products. Recently I have the need to tow a trailer with my truck camper on so I bought your Superhitch Original Class V Hitch, 28" Supertruss Receiver Extension For Superhitch, Custom Frame-mounted Camper Tie-downs - Rear and 7-way Extension For 28 Supertruss Order #107727079. I ordered from Etrailer since they don't sell direct. When the the supper hitch arrived the box was all torn up and because Torklift chose to leave the 6- 2x2 plate washers loose in the box 2 where missing. I assumed they fell out the hole in the box during shipping. I then had to wait 3 weeks for them to ship me to new plate washers. I got the hitch installed and tonight went to install the Supertruss Receiver Extension and when I carefully opened the zip lock bag it was missing all 4 of the 1/2 nuts.
The missing plate washers already delayed my trip and now I am delayed once again until I get go to the store and buy the nuts. Like I said I think they make well built stuff, but their QA with packing and shipping sucks.

by:

Bought this so that I could safely tow a trailer behind my pickup with truck camper installed. It works great and gives me the confidence that I have the right equipment for my towing needs.

by:

First of all I would like to thank Alex J for all the info and his effort to make sure The trip I have planned will go as planed. Thank you so much Alex. With all trouble being on the road during the week and no time to get things done, you made this so easy. Box was a little beat up but all parts were in the box. That hitch is very Heavy and I see why it will do the job ok. The quality of the product is second to none. I will send Pictures Later. Thanks Alex J and etrailer.

Sturdy, well made product. I did not realize it came in pieces, so be prepared to do some assembly work. I had all the required tools, but not everyone may own a torque wrench. Once assembled, it looks great.

  • Options For Pulling a Boat Trailer Behind a 2014 Dodge Ram 3500 with an In-Bed Truck Camper
The longest extension available that will work with the factory trailer hitch receiver on your 2014 Dodge Ram 3500 is the Trailer Hitch Extender # e48YR. You will need to measure from the center of the hitch pin hole on your trailer hitch receiver to the edge of your truck bed camper to see if this extension is long enough. Keep in mind that a hitch extender like the # e48YR will reduce your trailer hitch receivers capacities by 50%, and has a max tongue weight rating of 350lbs and a max...

Adding a hitch extender to your setup does reduce the tongue weight and towing capacity by 50% so we would need to find an extender that's rated around the 10,000lb range to be safe. You'll also need to take into account the size of your Sierra's trailer hitch receiver opening and the length that you'll need to clear the truck bed camper.
