TorkLift SuperTruss in SuperHitch

This SuperTruss hitch extender is specially designed to work with your SuperHitch trailer hitch (sold separately). Like most products from TorkLift, the primary purpose of this extender is to help create a towing setup that fits perfectly with your truck bed camper system. Not only will you be able to extend your trailer hitch receiver out far enough to clear the overhang of your camper, but you will also maintain a high enough weight capacity so that you can tow your trailer.

Heavy-Duty Towing with a Hitch Extension

Most hitch extensions dramatically reduce the towing capacity of your hitch setup, making it difficult to tow a loaded trailer over a certain weight. The SuperTruss, though, creates such a sturdy connection with your SuperHitch trailer hitch that you can still maintain a high weight capacity. To get the highest capacity possible, use a standard weight distribution system with the TorkLift towing setup.

The SuperTruss uses both of the receivers on your TorkLift SuperHitch to ensure a sturdy, secure connection. The solid shank of the extension's top tube slides into your top receiver, and the extension's lower compression tube installs in your bottom receiver. Each tube is held in place with the hitch pins and clips that were included with your SuperHitch. The connection between the extension and your hitch is reinforced with 2 sturdy steel collars that bolt around the tubes of the SuperTruss.

To give you absolute peace of mind, lateral support chains connect to the hitch and the extension on either side of your setup. Just attach one end of each chain to the extension and secure the opposite end to your SuperHitch. Then tighten the chains with the integrated turnbuckles. These chains not only provide extra security to keep the extension in place in your hitch, but they also transfer some of the weight back from the extension to your frame-mounted hitch.

How to Determine the SuperTruss Length You Need

If the camper is mounted on the truck:

Measure from the face of the truck's rear bumper to the outside edge of the camper's bumper. This is the length of the extension that you need.

If the camper is not mounted on the truck:

1. Measure from the inside of the front of your truck bed to the outside face of the truck's rear bumper.

2. Measure the camper's overall floor length from the rubber bumpers at the front to the outside edge of the rear bumper.

3. Find the difference between these 2 figures by subtracting. The difference is the length of the extension that you need.

I think it is a great product but expensive. In retrospect I could not do what I wanted with the truck and hitch so I spent the money needlessly. Not any fault of your company. I would have been just as well to leave the stock OEM and not spent the money anyway. Live and learn.

by:

At first I was skeptical but now that I’ve put it together I’m very impressed. This thing is heavy duty and pulls my trailer no problem. Korren did a great job helping me out. Excellent customer service.

This is the best hitch ever

by:

The larger of two packages arrived with the actual smaller Torqlift box inside. All expected parts were delivered. The upper tube fit fine. The lower tube was very tight. I first removed some of the paint near the end of the tub with little success. I have the 20k Original Torqlift hitch. I decided to file the inside of the lower receiver and this smoothed out the problem. Then I found that the two stabilizing chains were four links two long for my application. I cut them shorter and PERFECTION! I provided the detail as realistic, but minor issues happened. As shown in the photo, the 36" extension looks very solid and I'm perfectly satisfied.

by:

Awesome product. The setup is simple but the lower pin hole was very hard to line up. I had to slightly open the hole as it wasn’t drilled straight to match the hitch pin hole. Once I cleaned this up everything lined right up. The upper extension was spot on and easy to line up. Make sure to closely follow the instructions on the collars that connect the two extensions. Each bolt takes two flat washers on each side. This was a 36” extension but I ordered the 48” two way power cable. Wrapped it around the extension and came out very clean. The two way cable nor the extension included hardware to mount the female plug end to the bracket.

GREAT SERVICE

by:

Another piece that is a little pricey but think about everyone's safety. This is a must have when toeing heavy with your cab-over camper. Just pay attention to the load limits, for this particular part.

by:

Not etrailer’s fault, but item was pretty scratched up from the way torklift packaged it. Disappointing and hoping it doesn’t start to rust.

That is very unfortunate that it arrived damaged! You can cover the scratches with a rust resistant type of paint, like Rust-Oleum. I have a link below with more information for you. I also will be sending some information over to our customer service department for them to credit you for the paint.

Torklift SuperHitch & Truss were the answer for our towing need w/ camper overhang. These Torklift “Super” products are rock solid & eTrailer sales staff ensured parts that were the perfect fit for our tow vehicle. Highly recommend!

by:

Bought this for my Dodge Ram 2500 to pull 25’ boat to show in TN last year and have my truck camper on my truck. Worked way better than I expected. Also bought wiring harness. Very pleased.

by:

This my second SuperTrus. My first one, after many years, still works great but I needed a longer trus to accommodate a new slide in camper. So far the new hitch is holding up just as expected. I expect many more years of service out of both trusses

by:

This item was shipped quickly. It was well packaged with thorough instructions. I cannot wait to try this out with my camper and pontoon boat. I will happily submit pictures later once I have everything put together.

Its been almost a year since I had the Superhitch installed on my truck. The directions included made it look like 2 people could complete the install within a a few hours. I wanted to make sure this install was done correctly and efficiently, so I was lazy and had it installed on my truck. The hitch worked beautifully. The angle of my backup camera allowed me to line up my pontoon boat even with my camper on my truck. I would highly recommend this product. I love the versatility of have 2 hitch receivers. My lift is lifted so I routinely use the bottom hitch when Im hauling my boat without the camper or when Im hauling a small trailer. Email me with questions of if you want pictures of my setup.

by:

This thing is the real deal! Heavy duty. Had to take a link out of each chain. Could probably take out 2 more and still be fine... But etrailer sent it fast with free shipping. I love these guys! Keep it up!

by:

This is a nice heavy duty hitch Extension that I use when I have my cabover and haul my trailer. I used it to move from Fairbanks, Alaska to Idaho in February and although the trailer was severely overloaded (14 ruined tires and wheels along the way), the hitch extension was something I didn't have to worry about. Excellent product!

by:

We needed a way to pull our boat behind our F350 when the slide in camper was mounted. The camper sticks out a good way past the rear of the truck. The Super Truss extension works GREAT! Very heavy duty construction and well made. We needed the three foot extension and have pulled the boat many miles with confidence. I highly recommend the Super Truss if you need an extension. The folks at Etrailer are always very helpful if you have questions, shipping is very fast. Very happy customer here.

by:

The super truss is a must have for extended towing under a camper. This is not just a hitch extension. It locks in very solid with no movement for less stress on the hitch and vehicle frame. A much more solid way to tow with an extension. I used the Reese extension before and cracked the welds on my factory hitch.

by:

My Torklift Super Truss extension (3') gives me the clearance that I need for my truck camper overhang. It is really heavy-duty and works well for towing things behind my camper. Superior to single tube extensions which wobble and sway.

by:

Very heavy duty. The only difficulty was the coating on the male part of the hitch extension is too thick to allow the hitch to be inserted into the receiver. A couple passes with an angle grinder fitted with a wire brush took care of the problem.

by:

Awesome products all around from Torklift, and their super truss hutch extension is no exception. Heavy duty, rugged durability and exceptional quality!

by:

I purchased this extension to use with the superhitch magnum. The finish is nice and the extension seems well built. The instructions were clear and assembly/ installation was easy.

by:

Well worth the cost a must investment if you would like to take care of your vehicle and boat and trailers. Assembled and installed flawlessly and easily. It seems as if the truck now pulls the boat/trailer right in the parallel with the towing vehicle. I invested in the 36 inch model. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is because I have only used a few times so far.

by:

I have been using torklift products for some time this purchase was due to a need for a longer extension. Longer camper covered up my 30". These are great products this company was fantastic my product was tasked to ship same day. I would recommend not only torklift but e trailer to everyone.

by:

Great product, now able to tow the boat with the camper. It is pretty heavy and it takes a little time to get it aligned properly at first, but after that it slides in and out of the reciever easily.

by:

Always have been great to deal with you guys!!

by:

Everything arrived exactly as ordered an on time. Haven’t had the hitch and airbags installed yet but, the info on your website was invaluable in determining what I needed to purchase to set my truck up for carrying my new pickup camper

by:

Product is easy to install and works great. Takes a lot of movement out of trailers compared to previous extension.

We have 2 different 2-1/2" hitch receiver options for your 2024 Ram 5500 Cab and Chassis and the correct one just depends on what you're looking to get out of the hitch. The Curt # C15800 is your classic hitch receiver while the TorkLift # TL49YR is a dual stacked receiver that gives you both a 2" and a 2-1/2" receiver. I recommend going with the Curt unless you're going to be towing a trailer and needing to carry a bike rack, or use an in-bed camper and need a special hitch extender...

  • Recommended SuperTruss Extension for Flat Towing
Thanks for the pictures! My main concern in recommending a shorter extension, like the 36" TorkLift SuperTruss item # TLE1536, is clearance when making turns. The 36" would clear your camper and allow you to install your tow bar without climbing beneath your truck. However, depending on the height of your towed vehicle you run the risk of hitting the rear jacks when you make tight turns. Unless the nose of your vehicle is below the height of the jacks then I recommend using the 48" TorkLift...
