@Tp Glad to hear that you're happy with the # 80300 hitch adapter is working well for you!

by:

The adapter seems to be of very good quality. Before looking at etrailer I'd been having a hard time finding adapters that had both the 5/8" hole (#3 pin) for attachment to my 2" trailer hitch, and a 1/2" diameter hole to attach the 1-1/4" bike rack. Some just had one size holes, others had terrible reviews. The fit is good, though there is some wiggle room. From all the reviews I've seen, ALL adapters have some movement, and the only solution is adding a locking collar, which I may do after I've tried it for a while (I just got it today). Bottom line, I'm happy with my purchase.

I used it last summer with my Thule bike rack and it worked perfectly. My only complaint is I wish it was a couple inches shorter since it does make the rack stick further out.

by:

Professional, delivered a day early. As promised. What more can you want.

by:

Had to use grinder to shave it down in order to allow it to fit in the 2” opening. Wanted to use it for 1.25 inch bike rack … but it extended out too far from the car. Had to go with a shorter adapter.

I do have a shorter adapter available. It is part # HT02. The overall length of the adapter is seven inches and the center to center of the pin holes is three inches.

by:

This product is a size adapter that solves a hitch problem. My old bike carrier now fits my new truck!
I am a happy man! Thank you.

Very well, thank you. I am still satisfied!

by:

Easy peasy. Put it in, pin it, done. Fits great, works great. For what it's worth, I purchased this because I was moving from a 1 1/4 on my Miata (for a Thule Helium Pro bike rack), to a standard 2" on my new-ish Subaru. I went with this extended reducer because I was concerned that the shank of the bike rack would hit the pin on anything shorter before it could snap into the hole to secure it (the bike rack is a pressure fit with a long-ish shank that goes into the hitch). It does stick out a bit, but so does nearly every giant pick up truck with extended cab and a hitch :), so I just need to park smartly.

by:

My hitch adapter has worked out well. I use it with my bike rake, it holds my bike rake out from my SUV about 7.5" which allows the back hatch door to open without putting my rack in the down position. It also works well with my 1-1/4' draw bar and allowing me to pull up to 3500#.

by:

Works exactly as it is supposed to.

by:

Solid construction, easily fit in our existing 2 inch hitch. Used it for a bike rack with a 1 1/4 end and the extended sleeve gave plenty of clearance between the rack and the lift gate. Had to give it a dose of WD-40 because the fit was pretty snug but otherwise a great product.

by:

Product is great. Just using for bike rack so it's way stronger than it needs to be.

Michael

7/25/2022

It works as expected. Reasonably tight fit. Not much can change in a year.

by:

Worked great to convert a 2 inch hitch down to a smaller bike rack. My only complaint is that it is long and causes the bike rack to extend further from car then I would like.

by:

Does what it is designed for but rattles and shakes, even with anti rattle equipment.

by:

Hi - thanks for checking in. I noticed the hitch adapter doesn’t come with a pin. Seems I would need a pin to use this? Thanks

As stated in the product description, the 1/2 inch, part # PC2 and 5/8 inch, # PC3 hitch pins are sold separately.

I cannot say enough good things about etrailer. Their product line and service is fantastic. The staff at etrailer is great. They stay in touch from the time you place your order until it arrives at its destination. They notify you with tracking information to give you a better idea as to when the order will arrive. The products they sell are all top notch. No cheaply made knock offs. I could not find the parts and pieces I needed for a project I was working on. I went to etrailer on line and they had everything I needed.

by:

Item arrived quickly and was as advertised. I would reorder from etrailer.com.

All is good, the hardware is very durable and does the job. Thanks for following up.

by:

This adapter fits like a glove on both the 2" and 1-1/4" ends. Locking pin holes are in the correct locations for a perfect fit on my hitch and for my bike carrier going into the 1-1/4" end. Great product.

by:

I had a hard time finding the exact hitch adaptor I needed from many different suppliers on the internet. I was skeptical even when I found the etrailer.com website. Boy was I surprised! Their extensive inventory had many options for the adaptor I needed. The price was good, the shipping was reasonable and most of all, they had it On-Hand! Etrailer will be my first stop from now on! Thanks, Etrailer.com!

by:

I added the adapter to allow me to use a bike rack. The rack fits well with the adapter. My only issue is that the adapter sticks out quite far and I'm always banging my shin on it. Of course I could just remove it when not used

by:

This hitch adapter will allow me to use my bike rack (designed for 1 1/4 inch hitch) on my truck hitch receiver (2-inch). It's a great, inexpensive way to get double duty out of a single bike rack because we can now use it on two vehicles that have two different sized hitches.

by:

Works great with almost no wobble at all, especially when I use it with the 2" trailer hitch receiver lock. Highly recommend!

by:

I received the product ontime. It seems to be of high quality. I hope to use the adapter for my bike rack this weekend. I would definately order again from etrailer. I also ordered my hitch from them.

by:

All components exactly as listed. Having [video] clips for mounting a hitch and wiring my 06 Odyssey was outstanding.

by:

Poor quality control of manufactured item. The design is perfect for its job. But the final fabrication leaves a question as to quality. Let me explain: The gauge of metal used and its fabrication (welding)appears to be very satisfactory. But the hole drilled in the 2 inch shank to hold a 5/8 inch retaining pin was properly sized on one side but TOO SMALL on the other! I couldn't get a standard 5/8 inch pin through it. Thus I have to find someone to "ream out" the smaller hole before I can use product.....

To get your Thule T2 Pro XTR Bike Rack for 2 Bikes 1-1/4" Hitches item # TH23JV to fit in a 2" hitch receiver you will want to use the Hitch Reducer 2" to 1-1/4" Trailer Hitch Receiver item # HT02. The solution would be go get a hitch reducer, these reducers will fit into a 2 inch hitch receiver one end, and also fit your bike rack that is 1-1/4" on the other end, as there are no 1-1/4 inch hitch receivers for that vehicle. The Hitch Reducer # HT02 Measures 3" from center of pin hole to center of pin hole. There is also an adapter that measures 7" from pin hole to pin hole # 80300. • Adapter Recommendation to Allow a 1-1/4 Inch Bike Rack Be Used in a 2 Inch Hitch
You have a couple options, you could use the Hitch Adapter 2" to 1-1/4" # 80300 that you referenced, but this style of adapter will reduce the capacity of your hitch by 50 percent and will push your bike rack out further from the rear of your vehicle. Another option is an adapter like Hitch Reducer 2" to 1-1/4" # HT02. This will fit inside the hitch and will allow you to carry your rack. This would be the route I would go.

  • What 2" to 1-1/4" Hitch Adapter do You Recommend for Use on My 2021 Ford F-350?
For a hitch adapter, the only adapters we have for a 2-inch hitch is to convert it to a 1-1/4" opening. If this is the adapter you need, I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver Adapter - 2" (Class III) to 1-1/4" - 4" Long # C45770. This is the shortest adapter we carry for 2" to 1-1/4". It is important to note that this adapter only works with Class III 2 inch receivers. We do have a slightly longer adapter that works for all class sizes of 2 inch hitches. However, the use of an extender and reducer will decrease the tongue weight capacity of the trailer hitch by 50 percent. The hitch adapter could be used while towing. Normally we would suggest purchasing a 2 inch ballmount with the correct size ball rather than use an adapter. Brophy part # HT02 would be a better choice of a reducer as a sleeve is stronger and will not reduce the capacity. I see that you ordered Draw-Tite # 75758 and Hitch Adapter # 80300. I confirmed with the manufacturer that these will work well together and should not have any fitment issues.
