Product works after many attempts to rubber mallet it into the 1 1/4 inch receiver. The paint was so thick that I couldn’t push it in by hand. Some WD 40 and mallet smacks later, it not slides in, but still needs to be tapped out with the mallet. More annoying than anything else.

Comments
Sometimes what happens during the powder coat process is that the paint is put on a little thick, which can cause the application to not fit properly. We recommend lightly sanding the adapter where it is not fitting and then covering it with a rustoleum type of paint.

Not sure if it is the adapter or the hitch that is too large or too small...

Comments
What can happen is that a 1.25 hitch receiver does not always measure exactly 1.25 inches by 1.25 inches. There is a manufacturing tolerance involved that allows the receiver to be a few hundredths of an inches larger or smaller than 1.25 inches, but still be within tolerance. Due to the fact that the connection between a hitch receiver and the shank of a ball mount or hitch mounted accessory is not meant to be a precision fit. Sometimes the hitch opening will be smaller while the shank of the accessory is larger and it can be a very tight fit.

Review from a similar etrailer Hitch Expander in Hitch Adapters

The hitch was easy to install, took about 10 minutes. The 1 1/4 inch to 2 inch adapter didn’t go all the way into the 1 1/4” hole. I dad to grind it down to fit then I repainted it, I hope it does not rust , that will make it really stick,

Review from a similar etrailer Hitch Expander in Hitch Adapters

I only had one problem. I can't get the adapter all of the way in because in runs into the bumper. The fit is very tight and I am sure it will work as long as I use a supporting chain.

  • Is There a 2" Trailer Hitch for a 2019 VW Jetta
I do have an option for you but there are unfortunately only class I, 1-1/4" trailer hitch options for a 2019 Volkswagen Jetta which is the case for a lot of these smaller sedans since they are not designed for heavy duty pulling or hauling. I recommend the Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 24978 as it installs behind the bumper so it gives you a hidden design and also won't reduce ground clearance as much. If you must have a 2" trailer hitch then you can use an expander...

  • Compatibility Of 1-1/4" to 2" Hitch Adapter On a 2021 Volvo XC60 With Class I Receiver
I do have a recommendation for you as it sounds like you have a class I receiver with a stop on your 2021 Volvo XC60. The stop prevents class II accessories like the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver Adapter # e43YR from being used. It has a measurement of 2" from the receiver pin center hole to the end of the receiver tube. The Brophy Hitch Adapter # HTAD is 1/2" shorter from the receiver pin hole to the end of the shank at 1-1/2". You could also consider installing a Draw-Tite Max-Frame...

  • Will Rhino-Rack T-Load Hitch Mounted Load Assist Work On a Honda Civic
The height adjustment range of the Rhino-Rack T-Load Hitch Mounted Load Assist part # RTL002 is between 42" and 64" and the weight capacity is 165 lbs. Therefore, so long as the height of the roof rack on the vehicle and weight of the boat are within this range then you'll be good to go. Please note, the t-load is designed for 2" hitches so the only way to use this with a 1-1/4" hitch is with the Trailer Hitch Receiver Adapter part # e43YR.

  • Is There a 2 Trailer Hitch for a 2007 Hyundai Elantra
The only trailer hitch options available for a 2007 Hyundai Elantra are class I, 1-1/4" like the Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 24795 which is what I recommend. The reason for this is because the vehicle is small and cannot support the capacities of a class III hitch therefore one is not avavailbe. That said, there are still carrier options for the smaller hitch size like the 19x47 Curt Cargo Carrier part # C18110. There are also adapters like the Trailer Hitch Receiver...

  • Using a 2" Thule T2 Classic Bike Rack With a 1-1/4" Trailer Hitch Receiver
I do have a recommendation for you as Thule only offers the Replacement 1-1/4" Hitch and Backbone Assembly # 753370902 for changing your Thule T2 Classic 2" to a 1-1/4". You can use either a Straight Adapter # e43YR or Rise Adapter # HT5R to adapt your 1-1/4" hitch to carry the 2" bike rack. Do note that the adapter will reduce the tongue weight rating on your receiver by 50%. So if you have a tongue weight rating of 350lbs you will have to stay 175lbs or below for the adapter.

  • Is There a Class III 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver Available For a 1995 Buick Roadmaster?
The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C12009 class II receiver is our only custom fit receiver for your 1995 Buick Roadmaster. There are a couple ways you can get to a 2" opening receiver. First would be to use an Adapter # e43YR but this will lower your towing capacity and tongue weight by 50%. Second would be to use a Curt Adjustable Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13701. This may require some customizing on your Buick as it is a universal style receiver. Finally you can take the Receiver #...

  • Can 1-1/4 Inch to 2 Inch Adapter Be Used for 4-Bike Rack on 2012 Ford Escape
Will the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE # HR1400Z physically fit a 1-1/4" receiver by using an adapter like part # e43YR? - Yes. Do I recommend using these parts together? - No. When you use an adapter like the one mentioned above it reduces the weight capacity of the hitch by 50% so you will basically be using up a lot of the weight capacity of your hitch with the 4-bike rack alone since it weighs 91.5 lbs (99 lbs when used as a 2-bike and cargo carrier). The best option for your application...

  • What is the Shank Part on a Hitch Receiver Cover
The shank would be the piece that you insert into the hitch receiver. So for a hitch cover like the Star Wars Darth Vader Trailer Hitch Cover # PC002282R01, there are 2 different shank options you can place the Darth Vader cover piece on so it will fit whether your vehicle has a 1-1/4" or a 2" square receiver. It looks like you were looking for a light up hitch cover so I recommend checking out the Pilot # CR-007 which is a simple square design that fits a 2" receiver and plugs into a...

  • How to Use Thule T2 Pro XTR Bike Rack with 1-1/4" Hitch on Subaru Crosstrek
In order for your Thule T2 Pro XTR Bike Rack # TH83JV to fit with your 1-1/4" hitch receiver you'll need an adapter like the Trailer Hitch Receiver Adapter 1-1/4" to 2" Hitch # e43YR. The only issues with this solution are that using an adapter like this reduces the weight capacity of your hitch by 50% plus Thule doesn't recommend using an adapter like this for this bike rack. The only way they will be okay with the T2 Pro XTR being used with a 1-1/4" receiver is if the rack has the 1-1/4"...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver For Carrying a Bike Rack With 2" Receiver Behind a 2016 Mazda 6
If you are wanting to use your 2" bike rack you will want to install the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver # 306-X7301 on your 2016 Mazda 6. Both the Trailer Hitch Receiver Adapter # e43YR which will fit the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11356 and Hitch Adapter # HTAD reduce the capacity of the receiver by 50%. This will reduce the tongue weight from 200lbs to 100lbs by using the adapter and will likely push your bike rack with any bikes over the 100lb limit. By using the EcoHitch...

  • Solution for Carrying Bikes With 2012 Lexus CT 200h
The only hitch confirmed to fit your 2012 Lexus CT 200h is the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class I - 1-1/4" # C11200. Unfortunately, there are no 2" hitches available. I would not recommend attempting to modify your vehicle to attach a 2" hitch that was not intended for your Lexus. I also would not recommend using an adapter like the # e43YR to make your bike rack fit a 1-1/4" hitch since it will reduce the capacity of the hitch by 50%. This would only leave you with 100...

  • Solution for Using Bike Rack With 2 Shank on 1-1/4 Receiver on 2008 Lexus GS 350
The Curt # C11372 is the only custom hitch available for your 2008 Lexus GS 350. A Class I hitch with a 1-1/4" receiver is often the only option for cars like yours since they don't have a high towing/tongue weight capacity. It is possible that your bike rack can have the shank replaced if one is available. Some models have a 2" version and 1-1/4" version that can be interchanged. If you have the # SH22G you were looking at you could contact Kuat and ask for the 016-007. This would allow...
