Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. And today we're gonna take a brief look at this GEN-Y anti-rattle clamp for two inch hitch receivers. This anti-rattle device is going to keep your hitch mounted accessory from rattling and swaying inside of your two inch hitch receiver. This is going to work with your ball mounts, your tow bars, and hitch mounted accessories such as your bike racks and cargo carriers. This is going to be a fast and easy installation.

You're just going to slip this clamp over your accessory shank, and then insert the shank into your two inch hitch receiver. And then you're going to tighten these bolts to prohibit movement inside of your hitch receiver. Now this clamp is made here in the USA of a durable steel construction with a black powder coated finish. It's going to help resist rust and corrosion. Again, this is for your two inch hitch receiver, but we also have the same thing for your two and a half inch hitch receiver as well.

So if that one would work better for you, I have the one for your two and a half inch hitch on the screen. Just take the item number and put it in the search field of our website and it will take you to that version. Well that's gonna conclude our brief look today. I do hope that it was helpful for you. Nice anti rattle clamp. Was a little worried from the picture that it might be light or flimsy.. Not the case, heavy duty and worked great with the Gen-Y drop hitch.

  • Sleeve Style Anti Rattle Device for 2 Inch Hitch Extender
We have just what you're looking for with the Gen-Y Anti-Rattle Clamp for 2" Hitch Receivers # GY88XR. The sleeve acts as a wedge to take out play between your hitch receiver and extender. Although it does not not require a wrench and a significant amount of force to install, like an anti-rattle bolt would, it will require you to use the included Allen tool to tighten down the two set screws on the corners. I've attached a video that explains how it works in more detail.

  • Will DrawTite Anti-rattle Device 63080 Work with an 1-1/4 to 2 Inch Adapter?
I do have a solution for you, however the Draw-Tite QSP Trailer Hitch Silencer and Cover for 2" Hitch Receivers # 63080 is specifically designed to work with Draw-Tite 2" x 2" trailer hitch receivers. Because the collars on the hitch receivers can vary in thickness from manufacturer to manufacturer, chances are the 63080 will not work with your Haul Master adapter. If you're looking to reduce the rattling between the 2" receiver portion of your adapter and an accessory, I recommend the...

  • How to Reduce Movement of the Ball Mount Inside the Trailer Hitch Receiver Tube
It is very unlikely that the hitch pin hole on your Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver is worn causing the ball mount to slide back and forth. There is usually a little bit of play in the receiver tube opening with a ball mount and this can easily be fixed using an anti-rattle hitch pin like the Anti-Rattle Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 63232. This hitch pin has both anti-rattle and locking capabilities. It comes with everything needed for installation including two keys. As long as the...

  • How to Eliminate Rattle from Ball Mount and Receiver Mounted Accessories
That is correct; the Draw-Tite QSP Trailer Hitch Silencer # 63080 is only designed to fit on Draw-Tite brand aftermarket hitches. Instead, I recommend using the Gen-Y Anti-Rattle Clamp # GY88XR for your 2" hitch receiver to help eliminate rattling that occurs from your ball mount or hitch mounted accessory when installed.

  • How to Reduce Wobble when Using Curt Cargo Carrier C18145 in a 2 Inch Trailer Hitch
Hitch accessories tend to wobble, especially those that use a 1-1/4 inch to 2 inch adapter. The threaded hitch pin can only do so much to combat the movement. The issue is that the shank of the accessory has to be slightly smaller than the opening otherwise it would be difficult to insert and remove the accessory. That combined with the single attachment point and width of a cargo carrier means that even the smallest gap between shank and receiver seems huge at either end of the carrier. What...

The Draw-Tite QSP Trailer Hitch Silencer and Cover for 2" Hitch Receivers part # 63080 is specific to Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receivers. There isn't really a singular similar product with the same features, but you can use a cover like the etrailer Rubber Hitch Cover part # 22282 when not in use and the Gen-Y Anti-Rattle Clamp for 2" Hitch Receivers part # GY88XR when in use.

The American made Gen-Y Rebel Ball Mount w/ Stacked Receivers # GY62FR can definitely be used to tow a car dolly weighing 4,000 pounds. This is rated to tow up to 5,000 pounds and you will just need to choose the correct size ball to complete the set up. If the coupler on the dolly is for a 2" ball, you will want the # 63845, and if it is a 2-5/16" coupler, you will want the # 63847. The Gen-Y Adjustable 2-Ball Mount part # 325-GH-325 can be used for both towing and hitch mounted accessories at the same time. That said, the ball mount would likely need to be in one of the bottom two holes with the hitch mounted accessory in the top. In regards to weight, it has a very high 1,500 lb rating so as long as the tongue weight of the trailer and weight of the hitch mounted accessory are below this you will be fine. It's built like a tank so you should not have any concerns...

  • Anti-Rattle Device that Can be Used when Towing a Trailer
The MaxxTow Anti-Rattle Clamp has not been tested or rated for use when towing a trailer. Because of that it should only be used for hitch mounted accessories such as bike racks or cargo carriers. So basically, since they have not tested it for towing, they can't rate it for towing and that is where that note on the product page came from. For an anti-rattle device that you can tow with and costs about the same as the MaxxTow I recommend # 63232. This will work with a ball mount that has...

This is smaller in size and is specifically designed for 2" hitches. The wedge style of these anti-rattle devices has offered very good stabilization when needed. If you have the hitch pin for the Reese Eclipse 4 Bike Rack part # 63124 engaged enough so that the cotter pin can be inserted into the other side, then this will be sufficient in order to hold the shank inside of the receiver tube. That said, the bike rack may not be as stable as it would be with full thread engagement so that is something to keep in mind. An anti-rattle hitch pin will work for both hitch mounted accessories like bike racks and cargo carriers in addition to a ball mount with a hollow shank. • How to Prevent Hitch Pin Hole Deformity
It is not extremely uncommon for the hitch pin hole on a trailer hitch receiver to become oblong after frequent usage. This is usually attributed to frequent back and forth movement of the shank inside the receiver tube opening that in time will deform the hitch pin hole. A good way to prevent or reduce this would be to use an anti-rattle device like part # GY88XR. Since the hitch pin hole on your existing trailer hitch has become deformed then I do recommend replacement as the problem...

  • Easier to Install Anti-Rattle Device for 2 inch Hitch Accessory
The Gen-Y anti-rattle device you mentioned part # GY88XR does have a reputation as fitting really tightly. Some people report that using a hammer works for them, but I personally wouldn't want to mess with all of that.
