Video Transcript for Review of Pro Series Hitch Anti-Rattle - Standard Anti-Rattle - PS63091

Jeff: Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today. We're going to be taking a look at this Pro Series anti-rattle device for 2" by 2" trailer hitch receivers. Now, the part I'm going to review is this part right here. This will include this anti-rattle device and the adjustment bolt with the jam nut on it. We're going to describe it and then show you how it installs.

Basically, this part will keep your hitch mounted accessories quiet and stable, helps to eliminate rattle and sway within your hitch receiver, and it is designed to work with ball mounts, tow bars, hitch-mounted accessories, such as bike racks, and cargo carriers. Basically, this part right here will insert between the receiver and the ball mount, or the accessory that you're going to insert into the hitch, and then you secure with this adjustment bolt and jam nut.Again, the application is for 2" by 2" trailer hitch receivers. This part is a sturdy steel construction. You can see it has a nice black powder coat finish on it to resist corrosion. And as I've mentioned, it's a quick, simple bolt-on installation.

Basically what you'll do is go ahead and take this and just start it at the bottom right down in here. Get it started, and then what you're going to do is, let me pull a. I happened to pull a ball mount here that will insert into here. And I'm going to show you the difference it'll make when this is installed. So, I'll take this pin and clip out, go ahead and slide this into our 2" receiver, line the hitch pinhole up, put your pin through there, go ahead and clip it.Oops.

Once we get it all clipped, now you can see if you use it this way, like you normally would, you have a lot of play going up and down and side to side. There's a lot of play in there, so what you want to do is take out your ball mount, go ahead and install this with the bolt at the very bottom. And on this case, this hitch has the collar here, so it'll go behind the collar, and then take your ball mount and reinsert it back into your hitch receiver. Again, line the pinhole up, go ahead and put your pin through there.Once you get that all installed, then what you want to do is go right down here and just go ahead and tighten this anti-rattle device up, up against the hitch receiver. Once you start getting it snug, what you want to do, is get a nine-sixteenth size wrench or socket, put it on there and go ahead and tighten it down.

And I want to show you once we get this all tightened down, you'll see the big difference it'll make, there'll be hardly any movement at all. So, once I get that bolt tightened down enough, and then the jam nut on it right here, you'll want to go ahead and tighten that up against there. That keeps that bolt from loosening. So, you can see what that all tight now, your ball mount is not going to move at all. The hitch is actually moving more than the ball mount. Doesn't go up or down, doesn't go sideways. And then to move it, just unscrew that and take that off and remove your ball mount. But that should do it for the review on this Pro Series anti-rattle device for the 2" by 2" trailer hitch receivers.

I'm very Happy!!!, with this Hitch Silencer. I've been to Northern Maine twice in the past year and New Hampshire hauling my SxS and this unit has held strong and silent. A must for anyone tired of hearing Hitch Rattle. Highly Recommend!!!

Ordered a curt 45794. The receiver hole lines up ok (without) the anti rattle device BUT (with) the anti rattle device hole (1/4") shy of lining up due to weld. Karl

This thing really works. The bolt isn't quite long enough to allow the locking nut to be used however; another 3/8 would make the design perfect. If you would really like to refine this design, I suggest making the square hole smaller- just large enough to slide over the toung. The unit does work both ways- having the bolt positioned on top as well as on the bottom. I have it set up on top for ease of tightening the bolt. Hope this helps.

I do not recommend this item. It is not constructed well enough to function as described. The bottom bent down slightly where the bolt is and loosened up. It might be ok for a small trailer with not much weight but it is of no use for anything else.

I used this the day after I received it. It's easy to install. It turned as trip with the trailer into a non-event with no beating and banging with the trailer. A relatively smooth ride and a lot more pleasant than previously. The only downside (its minor) is that the bolt and jam nut are different sizes (9/16" & 11/16"). It'd be nice to need only 1 wrench. Regardless, it was money well spent. If you have a noisy trailer or hitch, I'd get this anti-rattle clamp. Additionally, the welds were clean and smooth and the part looked powder coated. So, it should weather well over the years.

After thinkin it was heavy powder coat inside the thread holes because it was hard to screw in i kept On tightening the bolt.... Ended up having to retap the hole because i was sent the wrong bolt. However it does take away the play..

Product works as advertised. Easy to put on and take off which was priority. Price seems a bit excessive considering where it was made.

Perfectly, Cant understand how some are having issues. I tighten mine from the bottom. Been using this for a year now on two different trailers with great results.

The nuts that are welded on the inside were at an angle. I have a 2015 Toyota Tacoma this product would not fit because of hitting the Welded loops on the hitch for the safety chains. It would not allow my hitch to slide into the receiver far enough for the pin.

This works as described. The rattle from an unloaded trailer is eliminated. I did find some welding spatter on the threads that I had to remove with a tap. Overall I am satisfied.

Had it a year now and it won’t stay tight. I’ve even torqued it beyond the limits and it still work’s it’s way loose after 1-3 road trips. The Mfg. should devise a way to lock down. Prevent this, and still be able to remove it when ready.

The product was great and the service and delivery are excellent. The only slight problem was in the video where they made the process of attaching the receiver sound easier than it was. My brother helped me and we have all the tools needed and are good at that kinda of stuff. But some of the procedures were difficult.

Excellent product, easily installed, ended trailer hitch/tongue instability...

works great! no more rattles or clunking, well made.

Works great. It holds the hitch securely and eliminates any wobble or rattle that there previously was. The best part is is that it is hardly noticeable when attached to the hitch.

Did not fit on a MB Metris 2016 factory installed trailer Hitch. Hate to give it a poor rating because I was not able to put it to the test.

Haven't installed it yet, but upon screwing in the locking bolt, it stripped on a weld blob that had found its way into the threads of the welded nut. I ground off the weld blob and bought a new locking bolt at the hardware store. Hope this thing works...

This works great for heavy hitch setup. Stops rattling and also keeps the shank tightly Secured on trucks tow bar, which prevents wear on female end.

Works great to take out some of the bounce when the trailer is empty. Just used it on one long trip so far so I don't know about longevity yet. I was going to make one but for the price it isn't worth the time.

Thank you so much for your great service. My order arrived right when they said it would and the product looks fine

Plenty of options available online to fix the rattling problem from my trailer hitch accessories. Can't wait to try it and based on the design, it appears it should at least help limit noise/movement!

Ask the Experts about this Pro Series Hitch Anti-Rattle

  • Will Anti-Rattle Device for Trailer Hitch Receivers Work with a ReadyBrake System
The Pro Series Anti-Rattle Device # PS63091 will work on any ball mount or hitch mounted accessory (such as a bike rack or cargo carrier) that fits a 2 inch hitch receiver. It connects to the draw bar or accessory rather than the receiver, so it will work just fine with a ReadyBrake or other receiver style supplemental braking system.

  • Can Pro Series Anti-Rattle Device for 2 x 2 Trailer Hitch Receivers be Used w Weight Distribution
Yes, the Pro Series Anti-Rattle Device # PS63091 that you referenced will remove the play you described having between your weight distribution shank and hitch.

  • Can I Use an Anti-Rattle Clamp When Towing a Trailer?
This can be frustrating, but I have a solution for you. If your hitch has a lip or collar around the opening, the Roadmaster Quiet Hitch # RM-061 is going to be perfect for you. You can use this clamp when towing a load, carrying a bike rack and also when you don't have anything attached to your ball mount. If your hitch doesn't have a lip or collar around the opening, I recommend going with the Pro Series Anti-Rattle Device for 2" Hitches # PS63091 . This will slip on to your ball...

  • Can MaxxTow Anti-Rattle Clamp # MT70258 be Used with a Travel Trailer
The MaxxTow Anti-Rattle Clamp # MT70258 is an accessory anti-rattle device so provided you are using it on the back of your travel trailer in a hitch mounted accessory, such as a cargo carrier, you will be good to go. But it is not rated for use on the tow vehicle for towing a trailer. If that is what you are looking for I recommend the similar Pro Series device # PS63091. I have linked videos of both devices for you.

  • Trailer Hitch Pin Lock for the Yakima DoubleDown 4 Bike Rack Part # Y02424
In order to lock the hitch pin on the Yakima DoubleDown 4 Bike Rack part # Y02424 you will want to use Yakima HitchLock part # Y07235 which works in conjunction with the factory hitch pin. The threaded hitch pin will serve as an anti-rattle device but you can supplement this with either part # 63090 for 1-1/4" or part # PS63091 for 2". Unfortunately, we have not tested the Stainless Steel Locking Anti-Rattle Threaded Hitch Pin part # SR25219 with the Yakima DoubleDown so I would not...

  • Comparison Between the Roadmaster Quiet Hitch and the Pro Series Anti-Rattle Device
Both devices are designed to help tighten the connection between the hitch and the towing accessory. Between the two, I recommend the Road Master Quit Hitch, like # RM-061 for 2 inch hitches. The Quiet Hitch's U-bolt design might give you a stronger connection over the Pro Series Anti-Rattle one bolt design. The Road Master Quiet Hitch is designed to help immobilize your ball mount or towing accessory when installed in the hitch. When you tighten the nuts on the immobilizer, the U-bolt...

  • How to Make a Reese Bike Rack More Stable in the Hitch of a 2009 Toyota RAV4
Sounds like you will need an anti-rattle device to make your bike rack more stable in your Toyota's trailer hitch. I recommend the Pro Series Anti-Rattle Device for 2 x 2 Inch Trailer Hitch Receivers, # PS63091. The Pro Series device will insert between the trailer hitch receiver and your bike rack. The adjustable bolt and jam nut will allow you to stabilize the bike rack and help eliminate the wobble in the trailer hitch.

The MaxxTow Anti-Rattle Clamp for 2" Trailer Hitch Receivers - 2 Bolt # MT70258 fits right onto the flared surround you mentioned on the Curt Hitch Receiver attached to your 2013 Lexus RX450H. The integrated sleeve on this adapter is a great help in stabilizing your accessories for a much quieter ride.
