Nearly every hitch setup suffers from a bit of slip. This free play between your trailer hitch receiver and your hitch-mounted accessory is completely normal, but it's also completely preventable. By adding the Quiet Hitch to your setup, you can stabilize your hitch-mounted accessory as it sits in the receiver to eliminate rattle, sway, and all that extra play.
Just slip the Quiet Hitch over your tow bar, hitch adapter, ball mount, or other accessory. When you slide the accessory into the hitch receiver, position the U-bolt around the collar on the bottom of your hitch receiver. Then place the bar on top of the accessory shank and tighten the nuts onto the U-bolt. As you tighten the Quiet Hitch, the shank of your accessory will be pulled down towards the bottom of the receiver opening, thus securing it in place within the tube.
Benefits for a Tow Bar
Using an anti-rattle device, such as the Quiet Hitch, is recommended when flat towing a vehicle. Besides reducing wear and tear on your tires, hitch receiver, and tow bar, using an anti-rattle device can help prevent more serious problems. A small amount of free play at your hitch may not seem like much, but this sway is magnified the farther back you go. A little movement at the hitch translates to a lot of movement at the rear of your towed vehicle. By using the Quiet Hitch, you eliminate this sway at the source.
Note: If you have a towing setup that includes a drop receiver or a high-low adapter, use 2 immobilizers to make your system as secure and rattle-free as possible. Use 1 Quiet Hitch at the connection point between the adapter and your hitch, and use the other where your tow bar slides into the adapter.

Use this hitch immobilizer to keep your ball mount or hitch-mounted accessory from rattling and shifting in your receiver. Great for tow bars, high-low adapters, bike racks, cargo carriers, and more. Quick, simple bolt-on installation.I just bought a new bike rack for my E-bike, and in order to be able to put the tailgate down with the e-bike on the rack, I had to install a 7" extender on to the 2" hitch. The bike rack already had a anti-rattle device built in, but the 7" extension moved around a lot, making my e-bike sway real bad while on the road. A simple and excellent fix was installing the Quiet Hitch, an Anti-rattle Ring. After I installed it, the bike rack was solid as a rock. Installed in just a few minutes, and very well made. (Of course, it's made in the good old USA.). Made by Roadmaster. Good Job!
It works on such a simple principle and does a great job. Simple to put on and holds the ball mount perfectly still. I use a very long ball mount so there is leverage on it when towing but with this item, it is very secure and takes out all the "play" between the ball mount and the hitch sleeve.
This product has been flawless. I have a hitch extension with a riser, attached to a hitch swing out mount and then attach a 3 bike rack to that. The point is my set up puts a huge amount of stress on this anti wobble device and it has handled it perfectly. Did I mention I’ve driven this set up hundreds of miles off road? Washboard roads and plenty of off road in Baja Mexico. I originally tried one of the flat steel plate anti wobble devices, it ended up bending. I can not recommend this round anti wobble device enough!
It makes the trailer pull better because its solid now. It's a little inconvenient when diffrent hitches are used.
I order the roadmaster quiet hitch from E-trailer and it seems to be working OK, it's taken out about half of the wobble on my hitch Accessory. I give E-trailer of 5 star for shipping it out, it only took about a week. And I give the product about 4 stars because it is built sturdy and seems to be working OK.
The product is effective beyond my hopes. All the rattling of my 6" drop hitch has stopped when under load or just driving without the trailer. I couldn't be happier.
Used this on a trip across country with our motorhome pulling a trailer with a motorcycle on it. It only loosened up one time and had to be tightened again. Over 9,000 miles and no noise from the hitch.
Just what I needed. Still holding strong after 1 year. I used it to keep a 4 bike hitch mount rack, from jiggling around. I feel more confident when its all locked down. High recommend this.
I just fitted the Blue Ox towbar, for 6 inch, drop/rise, receivers. Also, the, Roadmaster quiet hitch lock, for 2 inch hitches. Both are excellent products, strong and very well made. There is no movement, with my new hitch lock in place. Two pictures included, showing both, attached to my Subaru Ascent, the drop hitch now sits at 15 1/2 inches above the ground. I will send more pictures of the lights, also purchased from etrailer.com when my mobility scooter carrier is completed.
After a long review of available products to reduce rattle on my low-tongue-weight job trailer, I settled on this unit as my only hope. I had to install it upside-down (nuts down) because the safety chain anchor rings on my Jeep Renegade block access to the lower lip on the receiver. Even so, it eliminated the greatest part of the awful rattle, bringing the problem down to a truly acceptable level.
Order was delivered four days ahead of schedule and was just what they advertised. Sales person was knowledgable of thre weight distribution system and helped me order the correct down shank my truck and trailer required. As usual a good experience.
This eliminated the rattle between ball mount and receiver. I bought a second one for my other tow vehicle. One of my receivers had extra weld on the bottom but this device still worked great. One of these was left on for over a year. There was some corrosion but devise is still functional. One of these is on a 8 inch drop ball mount pulling a 7000 lb trailer.
I ended up using a 7-1/2 inch Roadmaster extender along with a Roadmaster 4" Hi-Lo adapter to tow our Jeep with our motorhome. I used 3 of the quiet hitch brackets to stabilize the extensions and tow bar. We towed for the first time this weekend for about a 170 mile round trip. The Jeep tracked perfectly behind the motorhome. I had to make several hard stops due to lights changing and cars pulling into traffic unexpectedly. There was absolutely no noise or hitch bounce. They are easily installed. I highly recommend this product.
This invention is exactly what I needed. I pull several trailers and also a camper. It takes all the clunk and rattle out of the hitch. Its the real deal!
I would rate you high and I am very satisfied. I have used you before a couple of times over the years. I bought a trailer hitch from you before, towing parts, and a few other things I can’t remember as the trailer hitch was 8 or 9 years ago.
I ordered 2 quiet hitches because I have a hitch extender on the back of my Travel Trailer for a bicycle rack. I attached both quiet hitches and my bicycle rack does not move, stays rock solid.
Recent purchase of a Pro Series Cargo Carrier 63153. Assembly of the carrier was very straight forward but when installed into the 2" receiver, there was too much play at the receiver for my liking. Jonathan at etrailer recommended the RM-061 Quiet Hitch and got it to me while away on a trip. Installation was easy and it completely eliminated all the play. Now the cargo carrier acts like it is part of the truck, not and add on, a perfect solution!!
Easy to install, only took a couple minutes and solved my noise and tolerance problem between trailer hitch and receptacle.
I can't believe something this simple works so well. I've battled a rattling hitch for years. I've tried cutting metal shims, drilling and bolting the hitch in the receiver and even thought about welding (that was quickly dismissed). This thing works. It simply works. Easy to put on and take off, which is important as I only tow about 6 times a year. It's great because you can use it on almost any hitch too.
We have a small pop up camper on our 4WD truck, We fabricated a top step using a plate(step tread) welded on a draw bar. The step moved slightly because the draw bar was not secure. The Roadmaster "Quiet Hitch" removed all the "wiggle" in the step and has removed the extra movement out of our tow hitch ( we tow a Suzucki Samurai).
Works as advertised. Some rust. The idea is super. But there should be a quick release mechanism for this device. You have to get out a wrench just to change the hitch. Come one you junior engineers. Get on it!
The only trailer I usually tow is our Scout Troop trailer. There was much noise when I hit bumps due to the play with the hit. It scared me the first time I was towing. This product stopped the play and that awful noise is no more.
Attached a cargo carrier to my 2014 Wrangler JK 2dr's Hidden Hitch part 87424 with the Tow Ready J-Pin, but it didn't quite take all of the sway and rattle out vertically. Added the Roadmaster Quiet Hitch tightened to the recommended 23 ft lbs and we are good to go - the cargo carrier feels almost welded on back there.... Excellent product, couldn't be happier with it.
The first time i used my trailer with 2019 Blazer. I thought my trailer was in the back seat. I purchased the QUIT HITCH and it was very quiet. No rattle at all
THIS SIMPLE, INEXPENSIVE DEVICE WORKS EXACTLY AS INTENDED. IT STOPS THE MOVEMENT OF THE HITCH IN THE RECEIVER WHICH PREVENTS DAMAGE/ELONGATION OF THE HITCH PIN HOLE. I WIPED OUT THE RECEIVER ON MY LAST TRUCK BUT AFTER 2 YEARS WITH THIS DEVICE, MY NEW ONE IS STILL LIKE NEW. IT ALSO HELPS A LITTLE AS AN ANTI THEFT DEVICE.
