Hi everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer and today we're taking a look at the replacement Hitch Tite anti-rattle hitch pin for your Saris bike racks with two inch shanks, here at etrailer. So you have your bike rack and you're ready for adventure, but maybe you've lost the bolt for the anti-rattle assembly. And you still wanna make sure that it doesn't shake around as you drive around or maybe you cross threaded your bolts or just need a replacement part. This is gonna be the replacement part for you. I'm gonna show you how to assemble it onto your bike rack but also explain the differences between those different anti-rattle options so you get the right part for you. So this is the assembly we have on our current bike rack.
We have an anti-rattle bolt. We also have the hitch tightener on the inside of the shank, and we have this lock. So this is not included with your kit. With your replacement parts, you are going to have the tightener and you have the bolt, but you do not have a lock. So, for your newer Saris racks if you do wanna use your old lock with the new hitch tightener, it will not fit.
So, that's something to keep in mind. You may have to use a different replacement part, if this feature is what you're looking for. You notice that this bolt is shorter than the bolts included with most of your newer bike racks. And if you have, let's say, wiring or a bracket to the side of your hitch, and you're limited on space, this might be why you also want this replacement piece, because it has a shorter bolt, and doesn't take up as much space. So I have an extra part here to show you exactly how to replace your old assembly.
So here is our old block and you can see that it's definitely distorted compared to our nice new one. The reason this happens is if you forget which side it's on, and you insert your bolt from the wrong side. So someone put this here, into their shank, and then they put the bolt here and as they tighten down on the block it started warping it. And then you lose that anti-rattle effect. This is designed to work with your Saris bike racks but it will work with any rack that has an open or hollow hitch receiver, where the hitch pin hole is an inch and 1/2 away from the end of your hitch receiver.
This pops into the shank, and there's a tab that helps hold it up to that lip. Now that tab is not foolproof. You still have to be careful with where it is, because if you push it too far in, it falls straight through the shank. Now get your shank into the hitch receiver and line up that hitch pin hole. You're gonna use a three quarter inch socket or wrench to tighten that bolt down. And then you use your pin to secure that bolt. And that's how you replace your anti-rattle assembly on your Saris bike rack. So if you have a hollow shank and you realize that your tightening block is warped or cross threaded, this is gonna be the part for you. Remember, this does not include a lock, so you may have to pick up a separate bolt if that also needs replacing but those are included with keys. I have eight different ball mounts. This fits NONE of them - it's far too large to slide in the square opening of the ball mount as shown in the video.
It may fit bike racks or other 2" hitch accessories with very thin walls, but for any ball mount - forget it. Etrailer shouldn't be recommending this as a ball mount anti-rattle device.

This is one of the best features of Saris racks IMO so I was happy it was available as a separate part when I needed to add a hitch extender to clear the spare tire on the back of my Jeep. The extender now tightens firmly against the receiver and the rack tightens against the extender. Even with the extra length and a fat bike on the rack, there is no shaking or rattling. Highly recommended!

I was searching for a specific replacement lock made by Saris, who manufactures bike racks that are hitch mounted and I couldn’t find the item anywhere. Even Saris didn’t offer it on their website or in a catalog. After an exhaustive google search tuned up a hit at etrailor.com , I was able to locate the parts.
The key part was an insert for a standard hitch that eliminates rattling and has threads to accept a pin you can tighten with a pin that is threaded and allows you to attach a lock so your expensive road bikes don’t disappear when you park at a restaurant.
When you aren’t carrying bikes m there is a bolt with a pin so you can keep the insert secure when the bike rack is removed. So the bottom line is etrailer.com carries all the obscure parts for anything related to hitches and towing, which is nice so you can fix the problem at home and don’t have to take it in to a shop. The website is very well designed and you can search their catalog online, then order those tricky parts for your vehicles.
I did try looking on everything from Amazon, trailer parts outlets and it took a targeted google search to find the part here. Save yourself some time. If it involves anything for a hitch... start at etrailer.com!

After one year I am still pleased with this gadget. It performs exactly as expected. I bent the little tab out of the way for my application. It works great. And yes, I would recommend it to my friends especially since 2" hitch stability comes up quite frequently in our conversations.
