This Curt bike rack makes it easy to carry 4 fat bikes on the back of your vehicle. The platform-style rack is easier to load than a hanging rack because you don't have to lift your bikes nearly as high to get them into place. Ratcheting hooks and wheel hoops accommodate 4 bikes of most shapes and sizes. The entire rack tilts down for easy access to your cargo area, even while the bikes are loaded. And and you can choose between 2 different ways to fold the rack up for storage on your vehicle when it's not in use.

Easily Converts to a 2-Bike Carrier

Carry 4 bikes on this rack for family outings, or easily convert it to a 2-bike carrier for duo or solo rides. To convert the rack to a 2-bike carrier, remove the 2 bolts that hold the outer platform inside the shank of the inner platform. Then simply slide the outer platform out of the shank and stow it in your garage or shed.

Ratcheting Frame Hooks

Each center mast has 2 ratcheting hooks that move up and down independently of one another. This allows you to carry up to 4 bikes of different heights or with different frame styles. The hooks firmly grip your bikes by the top tubes, and they are cushioned to protect your bike frames from scratches and scuffs. Once you slide the hooks into position, just lock them in place.

Adjustable Wheel Hoops

Curt platform bike rack cradles

The wheel hoops are designed to fit fat bike tires up to 4-7/8" wide. These sturdy, adjustable wheel hoops let you carry bikes of different lengths. Use the built-in knobs to loosen the hoops. Then slide the hoops to the desired position along the platform base and tighten them into place.

The rack also comes with 4 sets of standard-size wheel holders that fit bike tires up to 3" wide, giving you the option to carry any combination of up to 4 fat or standard bikes.

Tilting and Folding Design

Curt platform bike rack in tilted position

The entire rack can be tilted down - away from your vehicle - so that you can easily access your rear cargo area, even when your bikes are loaded. Just pull the pin at the base of the rack to tilt it down.

Curt platform bike rack storage options

There are 2 ways that you can fold up the rack to store it on your vehicle when it's not in use. Option 1 lets you fold the cradle arms up towards the upright masts. Simply remove the pins and fold up the arms. Then replace the pins to secure the arms in the upright position. Option 2 lets you fold the rack up against the rear of your vehicle. First, lower the center masts by removing their pins and clips at the bases and then fold the masts down forward. Then remove the pins from the base of the rack and fold up the carrier.

Anti-Rattle Hitch Pin

Curt platform bike rack anti-rattle hitch pin

This rack comes with an anti-rattle hitch pin. The threaded pin holds the bike rack in your hitch, and it reduces noise and movement of the rack inside your hitch. Because this bike rack has a threaded shank, it is not compatible with standard hitch locks.

by:

a very bad very bad bike rack. would not have ordered this.

by:

Everything was shipped correctly and in good condition!!!...I would purchase again on the future !!!

by:

Hauling carrier and was assemble on May 20th. Assembly went fairly well according to the instructions. As yet have not hauled my ebike but will do so on May 30th.Unit is fairly heavy to handle but I am sure necessary to handle two heavy bikes.

by:

I received the rack quickly. I suspected there would be damage when I saw the shipping box. One of the wheel hoops was bent. Contacted etrailer and was told I could return the product. I didn’t have the time to return it because of a planned trip. I’ve used the rack as is. Easily adjusts to different bikes and works just fine.

by:

Easy to put on the vehicle, holds our e-bikes securely, and very easy to operate. We love our bike rack!!

by:

Excellent build quality. Simple to assemble. Included hoops for mountain bikes & fat tire bikes.

by:

I received the C18085-FB Fat Tire Bike Rack yesterday. It took me about 1/2 hour to assemble the pieces. The instructions could be a bit more clear, especially when it comes to the washers but I figured it out. It appears to be a quality product. I have not had the chance to try it out but eTrailer was very helpful in helping me on the purchase.
It came in 2 boxes because I ordered the Fat Tire mount which included for regular or mounting bike tire holders as well. You would pay an additional $50.00 or so to get the tire holders that are required for fat tire bikes. My tires width measures 4" wide. Another nice feature is it can support 1 1/4" or 2" hitches. It is harder to find a bike rack for fat tire bikes that would work with a 1 1/4" hitch. Most only support 2".

by:

I feel like I scammed a bit. I think I bought both the regular bike rake and a set of wheel things for fat tires. When I thought I was just getting one set of wheel things.

by:

How you guys advertise is miss leading. You should have the weights of what the bike rack can handle. Got the bike rack and to find out in the installation manual it wasn't big enough. Then to top it off you charged me xxx.xx to send it back.

by:

It’s exactly what I needed to travel with my fat tire bike. I have an SUV but my bike is so big it will not fit in the back. So this rack serves it’s purpose perfectly. Solid and well-built item. I would recommend it highly!…

by:

I bought this for our fat bikes after a lot of frustration with our previous hitch rack that was your typical hang by the frame style. This rack is so easy to use with two fat bikes and allows easy access to the hatchback of our SUV with removing just two pins even while loaded with bikes. It also sits high enough that it does not scrape the ground when backing out of steeper driveways like our other rack. I would recommend this rack to anyone looking for a platform rack for any style bike (we bought the additional tire platforms for our other bikes with narrower tires).

by:

no problems

by:

Very Secure and solid I have 2 E-Bikes fat tire It a bike rack you can trust Locks them on securely

by:

Great bike rack. Came with two sizes of wheel widths one set for fat tire bikes. Went together easily and didn’t wobble.

by:

I received it in just 2 days, I just installed this rack with no issues other than it rocks really bad in the receiver.

by:

easy to put on hitch. folds to a compact size for storage. very pleased with it.

by:

I haven't driven anywhere with it yet but I put it together and put the bike on it and secured it. Very easy to set up. Etrailer is on the ball! Every time I have ordered with them, they have come through for me!

by:

I have not actually used the bike rack yet. Having said that, it is a solid heavy duty unit that went together nicely.

by:

The rack arrived on time, was very easy to install and is just great. The price was so affordable, the video very informative, the overall experience was beyond my expectations. I am 80 years young and was hesitant about purchasing an electric bike, so this was a new experience for me. Thanks.

by:

Nice design, however, would prefer the carrier be stronger and less movement on the hitch.

by:

Great and affordable rack. Well made. Easy to assemble. Fast shipping and excellent customer service.

by:

Pleased with product and price.

by:

What a great product. Easy to install and very sturdy! Would highly recommend!

by:

by:

  • Can I Carry a Beach Cruiser on a Curt Platform Bike Rack
Yes you can carry your beach cruiser on the Curt 4 Bike Platform Bike Rack # C18087. The cradles adjust to fit different bike widths. I tested out the fat bike version of the rack # C18087-FB and used our fat bike with it. That bike measures 69-1/2" from front to rear tire and it fit just fine. The overall length doesn't change with the fat bike version just the width of the cradle to accommodate the wider tires. I attached a video I made of the fat bike version. You can see in the video...

  • Are There Wider Cradles Available for the RockyMounts WestSlope
There are several bike racks available that re designed to fit the newer larger flat tire bikes there are no replacement saddles available to convert your RockyMounts WestSlope 3 Bike Rack part # RKY10223 over to use them. Something like the Curt 4 Bike Platform Rack for Fat Bikes part # C18087-FB which can accommodate a tire up to 4-7/8" in width.

  • Can the Curt Platform Style Bike Rack for Fat Bikes C18087-FB be Locked to the Trailer Hitch
There isn't a confirmed threaded hitch lock that works with the Curt bike rack # C18087-FB so what I recommend to secure it and the bikes to the hitch is a hitch lock # e98891. It is also possible to use a very small pad lock through the hole at the end of the threaded hitch pin if you wanted to.

  • Will Swagman XTC4 #S64650 Bike Rack Work With Spare Tire On A 2010 Jeep Wrangler
I did contact Swagman on your behalf. They recommended referring to the below dimension versus the length of your Wrangler rear swinging door to determine clearance while mounted, folded down without bikes or the spare tire. -The clearance from the receiver bar hole to the first wheel hoop is 11.5" Due to the rise in the shank of the Swagman XTC4 4-Bike Rack for 2" Hitches # S64665, the ability to tilt the rack down would be essential for clearance and this does not provide that. The maximum width tire that will work with the Curt 4 Bike Platform Rack # C18087-FB is 4.88" inches. If you need a compatible hitch on your 2014 Ford Focus that works with the Trail Rider, the fitments depend on what kind of model of Focus you have. For different models, I recommend the following parts: - EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver # 306-X7237 (for Electric model) - Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11158 (for hatchback - excluding XT and sedan models) - Curt Trailer Hitch...

  • Which Hitch-Mounted 4 Bike Rack Is Recommended For Bikes With Fenders?
I have a solution for you, but wheel-mount bike racks such as the Kuat NV 2.0 Bike Rack # NV22G-NA22G are not typically ideal for bikes with a fender or basket. This is because the hook that mounts around the tire could interfere with and cause damage to the fender or basket. That said, I attached a photo that a customer submitted, showing this rack being used with a bike that does have a front fender and basket. While the Kuat NV 2.0 could potentially work for you, I still recommend going...

  • Recommended Fat Bike Beach Cruiser Bike Rack For 2009 BMW X3
The Thule Apex 4 Bike Rack # TH9025XT and the Thule Helium Aero 3-Bike Rack # TH9043PRO are similar in many respects. They differ in the number of bikes they carry and the materials with which they are made. The Apex is steel and weighs about 44 lbs where the Helium is Aluminum and weighs about 23 lbs. These are both nice bike racks but they will limit you to 35 lbs per bike which is where your fat tire beach cruiser have issue as those bikes are normally heavier than that. If this...
