Hollywood Racks Trail Rider Hitch Bike Rack on Vehicle

The Trail Rider platform-style hitch bike rack makes it simple to carry 1 or 2 bicycles on the rear of your vehicle. This versatile rack is easy to use and it features locking frame hooks and adjustable wheel hoops, so you can quickly load and unload your bikes. The included adapter sleeve enables the rack to fit both 1-1/4" and 2" hitch receivers. A locking, anti-rattle hitch pin tightens the rack's shank to your hitch receiver to prevent it from rattling around inside the receiver.

Locking, Ratcheting Hooks

Hollywood Racks Trail Rider Ratcheting, Padded Wheel Hools

Constructed of rugged steel with a sleek black powder coat finish, the Trail Rider uses locking frame hooks to secure your bikes. The ratcheting hooks are easily adjusted along the vertical mast and lock securely in place. The push buttons allow the hooks to slide up the ratcheting system to allow for bike removal. The lock cores keep the hooks from being moved up or down on the mast to deter theft. The hooks are different sizes and each one functions independently, meaning the rack can carry 2 bikes of the same or different heights.

Adjustable Wheel Holders

Hollywood Racks Trail Rider Adjustable Wheel Holders

The wheel holders accommodate bicycles with wheelbases up to 60", and you can adjust the wheel hoops by sliding them along the horizontal arms. They are secured in place with hand knobs. Velcro-like hook-and-loop straps secure your bike's wheels to the holders.

Hollywood Racks Trail Rider Adjustable Wheel Holders

If you want to carry a fat bike on the Trail Rider, you can replace the rack's wheel hoops with specifically-designed fat bike cradles (HRSPRWH-F-HD - sold separately).

Folding Design

Hollywood Racks Trail Rider Folded Up on Vehicle

The Sport Rider's folding design makes it easy to store your bike rack. Simply fold up the arms for compact storage.

Easy Installation with Locking Hitch Pin

The Trail Rider easily installs in your hitch with the included locking hitch pin. Just slide the shank into your receiver, insert the hitch pin, and then tighten it down with the included tool. The pin also works as an anti-wobble device to eliminate sway and rattle in the receiver. The frame hook locks and the hitch lock are conveniently keyed alike.

Hollywood Racks adapter sleeve

A removable adapter sleeve is included so the rack can be converted for use with 1-1/4" hitch receivers. The sleeve attaches to the shank with a single screw and can be installed or removed quickly.

Add-On Adapters

 Hollywood Racks Wheel Hoop Adapters

If you want to use the rack to transport a kid's bike with 16" or 18" wheels, wheel hoop adapters (HRSW-ADP-2 - sold separately) are available.

If you want to transport 1 recumbent delta trike or 1 recumbent tadpole-style trike with the Trail Rider, you can use the HRTRK-ADP adapter (sold separately).

I got this for use with two full-fender bikes, and I'm very pleased with it. The value is excellent. Assembly was straightforward. It's easy to adjust the wheel trays for your bikes, and very simple to use once adjusted. There's no shortage of pictures of this rack on cars, but one of my concerns was where to store my rack when it's not on my car, and the fold-up aspect of this rack made it one of my top choices. Pictured is the rack in the corner of my garage; I intend to install a low profile hook in the wall to hang it from, but it balances nicely (bottom heavy) on the slab. The lumber is 2x3, not 2x4, for scale.

I needed a rack to carry 2 e-bikes weighing 35 lbs. each. While some tray or platform racks have a greater weight capacity, they also cost hundreds of dollars more than this Hollywood rack. This rack was delivered in just 2 days and was easy to set up. It weighs less than my old hanging style Hollywood rack and it is easy to use. The locking anti-rattle hitch works perfect. The padded locking clamps hold the bikes securely while protecting the finish of the paint. This rack is exactly what I needed, and etrailer was wonderful to deal with!

- HR200Z

Sturdy, easy to fold and store with able ability to customize for each bike. Secures and releases each bike with ease. Good length although I've added a CURT 7" extension to give easier access to the trunk. Minimal side to side sway when driving. Very happy with this rack.

Awesome! Getting lots of use.

I use this item to transport our bikes to various trails around the state of Maryland. I did have some difficulty due to the fact that my bike is a step thru and the clamping J-bar doesn't quite come down far enough. I put a pipe insulator around the bike bar and all is good !

Using a bike adapter bar can be a life saver in a situation such as this. Try out item # SR0500

The Hollywood rack has been a great purchase. We are enjoying biking more than ever with the ease and security from using this rack. The locking mounts and hitch connection along with amount of weight allowed on the rack has been a plus.

- HR200Z

We ordered a bike rack from e-trailer. The bike rack was on back order. Once the rack was received. We received an email stating when the rack was being shipped. We received our bike rack 4 days later. We are very happy with our purchase.

- HR200Z

1YR Review: The rack serves it main purpose: transporting your bike safely. The rack also serves another purpose: destroying the paint job on your bike's top tube (even after adding additional layers of padding to the rack arm and to the bike).

- HR200Z

Does exactly what I purchased it for, to get bikes to and from local bike store for annual tune ups or necessary maintenance. This rack is very easy to mount/unmount and it’s operation is very intuitive. While I’ve only travelled a few miles with it hauling two bikes at a time, it seems it would hold up for a much longer journey. At first I worried about bumps and stopping/starting, but after about 10-16 trips, I don’t even worry about it anymore. Never had one issue with bikes or hitch coming loose. I would definitely buy again.

- HR200Z

My experience with couldn't have been better. First, there was a great YouTube video about the Hollywood bike rack that I was purchasing. Then the order was shipped promptly and arrived in just a few days. The packaging was solid and the rack arrived in perfect condition. The price was very good also. I would highly recommend based on my experience. I tested the rack on my 2020 Subaru Forester with 1 1/4 inch hitch receiver with our two bicycles and it worked just fine.

It works great after a year of use. I could not be happier with it.

Very happy with this purchase although the original assembly came with a dysfunctional lock on one of the hooks. I called and described the problem and was promptly sent a new pair that worked as intended. Great customer service! Also bought a hitch that mounted easily to my Murano using the video provided by etrailer. One year of long and short trips and still very happy with the purchase and the follow up.

Still working great for long and short trips. Just recommended etrailer to my son for his new SUV.

This is a decent bike rack for the price and it might be more stable with the 1-1/4" hitch, but there is a lot of movement with the 2" hitch. I'm looking to see if there's a way to stabilize it a bit more. If I can get it to be less wobbly, then I will update the rating to 4 stars.

If you have already switched the inch and a quarter adapter over to the 2 inch side and it is still wobbling, you can use a U-Bolt style anti-rattle device to make it more stable: Item # e99007.

- HR200Z

I wouldn't trust the hooks to hold any bike on securely. I ended up buying a ratchet strap that attaches under my hatchback to the bike frame to keep it from wobbly front to back. Additionally, I have a screw gun with a 3/4" socket and the unit still wobbled side to side considerably with my 1.25 hitch receiver.. The ratchet system on the upright pole is difficult to slide up and down to get the bike removed. I honestly can say that I would not recommend this rack based on these issues. Good news is that I was able to lift my bike up into the rack easy enough.

- HR200Z

We actually had this bike carrier delivered to a planned two-day stop (a family friend) in the middle of a two month tour of the U.S. It arrived well packed in a sturdy box with all the essential pieces-parts included. I put the rack on the next morning in less than 30 minutes using the basic hand tools (mainly a crescent wrench & screwdriver, as I remember) that anyone would have on such a trip. This rack replaced one (reputable brand) that we had started the trip with, but had proven unable to safely hold my wife’s new bike which had a non-traditional geometry and flat-oval top tube. Between the padded clamp that pushes down (gently) over the bike’s top tube and the weight of the bike being held from below by the wheel loops, I believe it would hold just about any bike securely, for any distance. Cannot think of anything I would change or improve on this carrier.

Still VERY satisfied after a Year!!!

I waited to review the rack until I had used it a few times. For the past year I have been using a rack that 1) strapped to my car, and 2) my bike hung from. It was a very old car, so I did not mind that it made minor dents in the body, but it also rubbed paint from the frame of my bike. I bought a jeep with a trailer hitch, thus wanted to try a platform rack like this one. This product is awesome. Velcro straps hold the wheels snuggly in place. The curved bar primarily is for keeping the bike from moving fact the company warns you not to press down too hard. I have driven on interstate highways, parking lots, and everything in between, and the rack has been solid. It is easy to install and remove. It is easy to load and unload bikes. I intend to never return to a hanging bike rack.

- HR200Z

I was impressed with this bike rack from the minute I unpacked it. The assembly was simple & straight forward. I looked at quite a few bike racks & for the price point this product was hard to beat. It is well designed & the keyhole pins make it easy to remove & fold up when not carrying the bikes. The locking hitch pin & locking frame bars are convenient and fairly secure. I will add my cable lock to make the bikes even a little more tamper proof. So far I’m very happy with this his purchase. Now the test of time!

This rack has served me very well over the past year. It is hard to beat for the money. I use it year round to carry my fat tire bike through the tough winters of Erie, Pa. with no issues. Good product.

Works as advertised. Have been hauling two ebikes, one step through and one mens conventional bike. Seemed a bit light compared to the Thules but there have been zero problems so I'm a happy bike transporter.

- HR200Z

Shopped around for a 2 bike rack for awhile. Found this one and it's perfect for us. Easy to put in the trailer and get the bikes on. I'm 65 and can get the bike rack on and 2 bikes loaded alone! We are very happy with it. The price was nice also!

- HR200Z

I assembled the bike rack the evening it got it. The instructions along with your online video were great tools to get it built ind install on my Nissan Frontier pickup. I drove 20 miles today and the rack held my bike secure. I have heard some stories about weather affecting the rack if you leave it in the elements which makes sense to me. After using it today I detached it from my truck and stored it in my garage out of the elements. I am very happy with my purchase and would recommend this bike rack. It is very beefed up and sturdy. I have ordered from etrailer before and customer service has always been excellent. The box came to me undamaged and packed very well. All parts were present. Totally happy experience.

- HR200Z

I've been using this bike rack for over a year now and I love it. I only carry one bike so I leave off the farthest rack to make it a little more compact. Some minor rust spots popped up pretty shortly after using it around the holes for the steel pegs that allow the tire holders to fold up and down. Nothing to worry about though as it was just minor surface rust where the steel peg actually makes contact with the hole and it never went past the circumference of the hole. There is really nothing that the manufacturer could do to stop that as any coating they put on there would get rubbed off by inserting and removing the steel peg over and over, or even just from it vibrating inside the hole. A few months ago I did have to spray some lock lube into the lock as it was getting tough to press in to slide the top arm up and down, but again that is normal since it's out in the weather. The only other thing I would mention is that when a bike is installed (in the closest position to the trunk) I'm unable to open my trunk as the handlebars are in the way. Again, that is to be expected and I'm pretty sure most other cars will have the same issue. I don't mind as I like the bike to be as close as possible to the car without touching it which is how this bike rack is set up. I use the bike rack at least twice a week and I would definitely recommend it without hesitation. I've included a couple of pictures - one right after I installed it (over a year ago) and one from today.

- HR200Z

The rack is very well made and very complete, the only nock is that it moves a lot, meaning... The part where it hooks to the hitch has a little play because it's not a snug enough fit so when you put the bikes on the rack they rock from side to side just a little, it's secure and not going to fall but it's just little unnerving. I went ahead and got the strap that etrailer suggested when I added the rack to my cart and with that now it's perfect! I just wish it came with the rack since it makes such a big difference.

- HR200Z

Assembles without too much difficulty. Use metric wrenches. Velcro straps are too short to use with wide tires. When installing the wheel carriers, have rubber mallet handy and put small amount of anti seize lubricant on threads of the knobs that tighten wheel carrier to unit's frame. I used anti seize on any bolt or screw I installed.

- HR200Z

This bike rack was easy to assemble and set up for our two bikes. We have used it several times and are very happy. Buying from etrailer was great. Easy ordering process and the rack was delivered quickly

- HR200Z

We purchased this bike rack a year ago. It has performed perfectly and served our needs well. It's simple to use and it's easy to install and remove. Our preference is to take it on and off for each use and it stores in the garage taking little space when not in use. It's done without any hassel in just minutes for each use. The locking trailer hitch pin keeps the rack tight in the reciever and the lock feature is handy. The locks on the retaining arms give you some piece of mind for security and even more piece of mind that the racheting bike hold down arms can't slip in transit. We would not only recommend this bike rack but would buy another if we had the need. Happy riding!

- HR200Z

This bike rack is a thoughtful design. Very simple to setup and use. The security locks are a great feature. It's reasonably lightweight and folds nicely for storage in the garage. No complaints.

- HR200Z

Great 2 bike platform rack. Very stable and easy to use. Highly recommend this rack.

Excellent. It works great and is what I needed.

Yes the Schwinn Perla women's beach cruiser will be compatible with the Hollywood Trail Rider part # HR200Z with the use of an adapter part # 64005 because the bike's top cross tube comes down too low for the ratcheting arm of the bike rack to lock down onto according to all of the photos I found of the bike. Other then the use of an adapter, the beach cruiser will work well because the fenders will not interfere with mounting the bike at all. The bike adapter will give the Schwinn Perla...

  • Will Hollywood Racks Trail Rider Fit a 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe
The Hollywood Racks Trail Rider 2 Bike Platform Rack # HR200Z will definitely work with your 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe. This bike rack does have a "tilting" feature but it's a little different than normal bikes because you have to remove the bikes to tilt the mast down. While this does mean that the bike rack will allow you to open your rear hatch, it does mean you'll need to unload any bikes to do so (or reach over the backseat from inside). If you wanted this same style of rack but one...

  • Recommended Bike Rack Options for 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee
There are a number of great options for a bike rack for your 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee that will fit in a 2" hitch like the Draw-Tite # 75699. I'll give you a few choices so you can make an informed decision so you can get on your bike as soon as possible. And since these are all platform racks, an adapter bar won't be needed. The first rack I recommend checking out is the Kuat Transfer # KU74FR because it is a premium rack at a budget-friendly price (relative to bike racks) and securely...

  • Best 2-Bike Platform Bike Racks for 5th Wheel Trailer
The Hollywood Racks Trail Rider 2 # HR200Z can be used on any passenger vehicle and on a motorhome, but not on a travel trailer or 5th wheel. The reason why some bike racks should not be used on 5th wheels is that there is extra motion at the hitch on such vehicles. There is typically a much greater distance from the rear axle to the hitch on a 5th wheel trailer than on a passenger vehicle. This extra distance translates into more motion at the hitch as the trailer moves around on the...

  • Comparing The Hollywood Racks Trail Rider To the SportRack 2 Bike Rack
The Hollywood Racks Trail Rider 2-Bike Rack - 1-1/4", 2" Hitch - Platform Style - Frame Mount # HR200Z has an anti-wobble hitch and shank rise of 5 inches. It has a weight capacity of 45 lbs per bike. The distance between the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest edge of the wheel hoop is 12-1/2 inches. It has a maximum wheel base of 60 inches. For this rack, I recommend the Anti-Rattle Hitch Lock and Cable Lock for Hollywood Racks Commuter, Traveler, Sport Rider Bike Racks #...

  • Platform Bike Rack Recommendation that Can be Used at Rear of Motorhome
The ride at the rear of a motorhome is much rougher than the ride at the rear of a regular passenger vehicle due to the increased length between the rear axle of the vehicle and the rear of the vehicle. This added length exaggerates bumps which puts more strain on bike racks so you have to use a bike rack that was designed to be more reinforced than the Convoy. So while the Rola Convoy # 59803 is not rated for use at the rear of a motorhome we do have the very similar Hollywood Rack...

  • Trailer Hitch and Bike Rack Recommendation for a 2008 Honda Fit Sport
Yes, the Hollywood Rack bike rack part # HR200Z that you referenced is Class I hitch compatible so it would work well on your 2008 Honda Fit Sport as long as it has a hitch installed on it like the Draw Tite part # 24776. I attached a review video for this bike rack for you to check out as well.

  • Bike Rack Recommendation for Front Hitch of Ford F-350
The Hollywood Racks Trail Rider part # HR200Z is a really great platform bike rack that's very stable and would about as minimally as possible affect your visibility. This rack has the quality and stability of much more expensive bike racks which is why I recommend it so highly. I believe your tow vehicle is a 2018 Ford F-350 so for a lower hanging front hitch the Draw Tite part # 65076 is a really great option.
