Inno Tire Hold loaded on vehicle

The heavy-duty Tire Hold is a great rack for riders who need to transport their e-bikes, carbon frame bikes, bikes with a large fork, and 27.5 semi-fat bikes. It also carries mountain bikes and road bikes. It grips your bikes by the wheels so it won't scratch your frames, it's easy to load, and you can tilt it with bikes loaded for cargo area access and fold it up for storage.

Pivoting Upright Arms with Adjustable Tire Grips

Inno Tire Hold loaded on vehicle

The Tire Hold has pivoting upright arms with adjustable tire grips that grab your bikes firmly by the wheels - not the frames. These grips allow you to rapidly load and unload your bikes, and they won't scratch or scuff the paint. The grips have slots on the inside so you can adjust them to accommodate the wheel size of each bike.

To load your bikes simply set the tire grips to the correct tire size, set your bikes on the trays, rotate the upright arms against the tires, and press down on the tire grips until they're snug.

Inno Tire Hold loaded on vehicle

The arms are secured by ratcheting mechanisms that slide along the trays. Simply press the silver button on each mechanism to release and slide.

Grooved Wheel Trays

Inno Tire Hold loaded on vehicle

The wheel trays have 3 grooves in the track that accommodate narrow 18c road bike tires up to 3" wide mountain bike tires. The Tire Hold doesn't have cradles for the wheels like most platform-style bike racks have. This allows you to position your bikes on the rack exactly where you want them, not where the cradles dictate you place them. This helps prevent your handlebars and other bike parts from bumping into each other.

Folding and Tilting Design

Inno Tire Hold loaded on vehicle

The rack tilts down - with or without bikes loaded - so you can access your vehicle's rear cargo area.

Inno Tire Hold loaded on vehicle

The front-mounted hand lever on the base is easily accessible even with your bikes loaded. No more crawling through bikes or squeezing between the rack and the vehicle to hit the tilt-release lever. Simply squeeze it until you see the red indicator, then lower the rack. When you raise the rack back up you will hear a click and the red indicator will disappear.

Inno Tire Hold loaded on vehicle

When the rack is unloaded you can squeeze the hand lever to fold it up for storage. This makes it easier to park in small lots at the trail head or in cramped parking garages, and it keeps the rack out of the way of other vehicles and riders.

Tool-Free Installation with Anti-Rattle Device

Inno Tire Hold loaded on vehicle

The hand knob at the base of the rack lets you tighten the shank in your receiver. Just slide the shank into your hitch, insert the hitch pin, and turn the knob until snug. The knob deploys an anti-rattle wedge at the tip of the shank to help take play out of the hitch connection.

Inno Tire Hold loaded on vehicle

You can set the integrated stopper so that the shank automatically aligns with your hitch pin hole. The first time you install the rack you can adjust the sliding stopper so that it touches the face of your hitch. Then each time you install it going forward it's set up so that the hole in the shank automatically lines up with the hitch pin hole. This prevents you from having to bend down and check for alignment each time you install the rack on your vehicle.

Tool-Free Installation with Anti-Rattle Device

Inno Tire Hold loaded on vehicle

The hand knob on the front of the rack has a keyed lock that secures the rack to your vehicle. To secure your bikes to the rack, run the thick steel cable through your bikes' frames and tighten the hand knob down over the cable's looped end.

I had a Kuat Sherpa 2.0 that I sold because we needed the additional bike carrying capacity as our whole family are cycling now. I opted for this Inno rack because I already have their ski/snowboard rack and to save some money as the Kuat NV 2.0 4-bike rack is priced so much higher and estimated delivery times pushed until early Spring/2021. Well, take it from me. Spend the extra money and avoid this rack at all cost. Assembly was easy, quick and packaging was top notch. Unfortunately, that’s where all the positive feedback ends for this product. This is not a stable rack even WITHOUT any bikes loaded onto it. With the threaded hitch bolt installed and the so-called anti-rattle adjusted at its tightest, I was still able to swing the rack from side to side as the shaft of this rack would just move easily inside the hitch. It also has play at the main pivot joint pushing the rack front to back and vice versa when in the upright position. Unfortunately, I wish I didn’t have to eat up the return shipping charges and hope etrailer.com does a better review for this product. At the end of the day, I don’t want to risk a bike or bikes possibly falling off this rack during transport. This has turned into a more costly expense and regret not spending more the first time for either a Kuat or Thule 4-bike carrier.

I bought this rack 1 year ago and it has been the best rack I have ever owned. The simplicity of the rack is what I like the most about it. Loading the bikes is so simple my kids (11yr and 13yrs old)are able to lock there bikes into place. My family are all MTBer’s and with this rack we can bring our 4 bikes wherever we want to ride. Anyone who sees this rack always compliments about how it’s looks so heavy duty. I would highly recommend this 4 bike rack.

Review from a similar Tire Hold Hitch Bike Rack in Hitch Bike Racks

Easy to assemble, three parts, six bolts allen wrenches included. Four different tilt settings, can tilt down even with bike secured to open rear cargo hatch on an SUV. Tire hold only, no contact with frame especially important if you have expensive carbon fibre. Looks sleek folded up only 14 inches extended from bumper for parking in the garage. All that for a great price!

Very Nice rack!! It feels sturdy and well made. My husband (74) and myself( 60) installed it very easily and quickly, After we were done it seemed a little wobbly, I called Customer Service , Spoke to Jessie, he was very helpful and knew exactly what the issue was, we just needed to tighten one screw- It folds up and down with one click . It's Perfect for us!

Review from a similar Tire Hold Hitch Bike Rack in Hitch Bike Racks

This rack is the second hitch-mounted platform bike rack we purchased. The first had been difficult to use and more difficult to adjust even when we bought it; it became even more of a pain to use as it quickly accumulated surface rust over the winter. In contrast, neither my wife nor I have had any difficulty using the Inno Tire Hold Rack. We have carried multiple sizes of bicycle without a problem. We especially like the fact that the bikes can be moved to the left or right on the rack, allowing us to avoid having the handlebars of one bike get stuck on the saddle of the other. Best of all, the rack has stood up to continuous use in the Minnesota winter, and it is still functioning as well as when it was new. This is a great product!

Review from a similar Tire Hold Hitch Bike Rack in Hitch Bike Racks

Makes loading and unloading your bike a breeze. No messing with tire straps, frame locking do-dads or any other type of nonsense. Just throw the bike on, ratchet down the tire lock arms and you are good to go. The whole things tilts down so you can get access to your trunk. I have this on a Tesla Model 3 and I have no problems accessing my trunk with a bike in the closest position to the car. The trays fold up when not in use.

Review from a similar Tire Hold Hitch Bike Rack in Hitch Bike Racks

After doing research on several different bike racks, I decided to go with this one. I definitely made the right choice! Once it arrived, it only took me about 20 minutes to put it together and attach it to my trailer hitch. The instructions were even easy to read which doesn't happen very often. One of the things I love about this rack is the ease of putting it on and taking it off. This was a big factor for me because I park daily in a parking garage and wanted the ability to easily put it on my SUV for the weekends and then remove Sunday evening. Another big factor for me was ease of getting the bike on and off the rack. Because I have an e-bike that weighs 48 lbs, I wanted a rack that wouldn't have me struggling. I can't imagine a rack easier than this! Once you lift your bike onto the rack, close the sides over the tires, attach the cable and lock into place, you are ready to go. All in less than 2 minutes. The tilt function is also pretty awesome. I tested it and was able to open the back of my Nissan Murano without any issues while my bike was on the rack. The rack arrived faster than expected as well, another bonus. After reading reviews on this rack and several other brands, I also purchased a $15 hitch stabilizer on Amazon. This gave me peace of mind that the rack wouldn't sway or come loose when driving on the interstate. This is a definite must and well worth the extra small cost. Bottom line - get this rack. You won't be disappointed!

Review from a similar Tire Hold Hitch Bike Rack in Hitch Bike Racks

I am very satisfied with the Inno single bike platform carrier. It was easy to install, seems sturdy, and the bike loads and unloads easily. My only complaint (minor) is with the installation guide itself – several times the pictures alone seemed somewhat ambiguous in possible interpretation; just a few words would have helped a lot. After I’d done the work, the pictures made clear sense… going in blind, they were a bit ambiguous. Again, a very good product

Super easy to use. The only design issue I see, and it’s not important to me since I rarely lock my bike, is that the cable lock can be difficult to use. Otherwise 100% satisfied.

Ask the Experts about this Inno Hitch Bike Racks

  • Is Kuat NV 2.0 BA22B-BA02B or Inno INH142 Tire Hold Better for 20 Inch Bikes
The Inno Tire Hold # INH142 4-bike rack will accommodate children't bikes with 20 inch wheels or adult bikes with up to 29 inch wheels. Inno tells me that a 33 inch wheelbase bike will just fit on the rack. The Kuat NV 2.0 4-bike, part # BA22B-BA02B will easily accommodate a 20 inch kid's bike with a 33 inch wheelbase, but a # 016-025-00-00 adapter for each kid's bike will be needed. One huge feature offered by the NV 2.0 is the add-on feature. The rearmost 2-bike portion of the rack...

  • Platform 4-Bike Rack that Can be Used as a 2 Bike Rack If Needed
Unlike the Kuat NV 4 bike rack # BA22B-BA02B the Inno bike rack # INH142 does not have ability to be used as either a 2 bike or 4 bike configuration. If this feature is important to you the best option would be the NV. The NV is widely considered to be the best bike rack out there so this would be a really great choice that you'd definitely be happy with. I attached a review video link to this page for more info as well.

  • Will Inno Tire Hold 4-Bike Platform Rack Work on 2014 Acura MDX
Yes, as long as you have a 2 inch hitch receiver on your 2014 Acura MDX, the Inno Tire Hold 4 Bike Platform Rack # INH142 will work perfectly. The great thing about the Tire Hold is that it holds bikes by the wheels to avoid any frame contact. This rack also tilts away from the vehicle so you can access your trunk even with the bikes loaded, and it includes locks to secure your investment. Just keep in mind that this rack does weigh 118 lbs, so you'll just want to take that into consideration...

You can see how they both have the same full tray style compared to the other bike racks you mentioned, Kuat NV # BA22B-BA02B, Saris SuperClamp EX # SA4026F, Yakima FourTimer # Y02469, that use wheel cradles instead. Even the Kuat NV # BA22B-BA02B is the heaviest of those three options at 86lbs. Its platform is partially a tray style so that you can still roll...
