Pivoting Upright Arms with Adjustable Tire Grips

Inno Tire Hold loaded on vehicle

The Tire Hold has pivoting upright arms with adjustable tire grips that grab your bikes firmly by the wheels - not the frames. These grips allow you to rapidly load and unload your bikes, and they won't scratch or scuff the paint. The grips have slots on the inside so you can adjust them to accommodate the wheel size of each bike.

To load your bikes simply set the tire grips to the correct tire size, set your bikes on the trays, rotate the upright arms against the tires, and press down on the tire grips until they're snug.

Inno Tire Hold loaded on vehicle

The arms are secured by ratcheting mechanisms that slide along the trays. Simply press the silver button on each mechanism to release and slide.

Grooved Wheel Trays

Inno Tire Hold loaded on vehicle

The wheel trays have 3 grooves in the track that accommodate narrow 18c road bike tires up to 3" wide mountain bike tires. The Tire Hold doesn't have cradles for the wheels like most platform-style bike racks have. This allows you to position your bikes on the rack exactly where you want them, not where the cradles dictate you place them. This helps prevent your handlebars and other bike parts from bumping into each other.

Folding and Tilting Design

Inno Tire Hold loaded on vehicle

The rack tilts down - with or without bikes loaded - so you can access your vehicle's rear cargo area.

Inno Tire Hold loaded on vehicle

The front-mounted hand lever on the base is easily accessible even with your bikes loaded. No more crawling through bikes or squeezing between the rack and the vehicle to hit the tilt-release lever. Simply squeeze it until you see the red indicator, then lower the rack. When you raise the rack back up you will hear a click and the red indicator will disappear.

Inno Tire Hold loaded on vehicle

When the rack is unloaded you can squeeze the hand lever to fold it up for storage. This makes it easier to park in small lots at the trail head or in cramped parking garages, and it keeps the rack out of the way of other vehicles and riders.

Tool-Free Installation with Anti-Rattle Device

Inno Tire Hold loaded on vehicle

The hand knob at the base of the rack lets you tighten the shank in your receiver. Just slide the shank into your hitch, insert the hitch pin, and turn the knob until snug. The knob deploys an anti-rattle wedge at the tip of the shank to help take play out of the hitch connection.

Inno Tire Hold loaded on vehicle

You can set the integrated stopper so that the shank automatically aligns with your hitch pin hole. The first time you install the rack you can adjust the sliding stopper so that it touches the face of your hitch. Then each time you install it going forward it's set up so that the hole in the shank automatically lines up with the hitch pin hole. This prevents you from having to bend down and check for alignment each time you install the rack on your vehicle.

Tool-Free Installation with Anti-Rattle Device

Inno Tire Hold loaded on vehicle

The hand knob on the front of the rack has a keyed lock that secures the rack to your vehicle. To secure your bikes to the rack, run the thick steel cable through your bikes' frames and tighten the hand knob down over the cable's looped end.

I have used many bike racks over time. this bike rack is the easiest to assemble of any of them. It is solid with no shake at all. It holds the four bikes we travel with superbly- nothing touches the frame, no bikes touch each other which is extremely important as my bikes are very expensive. The only problem for me was the receiver length. Since we put the bikes on the back of the RV, the handle bar of the inside bike hit the back of the RV. So we purchased a receiver extender. It works great. I suggest the Roadmaster anti rattle hitch extender because it screws into the hitch resulting in no shake or rattle. Also, the lowering and raising mechanism 0f the rack is well placed and easy to use for a single individual. Our other rack needed two people to raise and lower it.

Pros:
I love the design. Very fast to
remove and reinstall bikes. Holds them solidly so there is no movement during transport. Because it only touches the tires, it doesn't damage the bikes. Simple to use once installed on the vehicle. Elegant design with a minimum of moving parts. Hitch tightens and locks safely to the vehicle. Easily adjustable for various size bikes. Heavy duty.

Cons: It is difficult to get into the box receiver on the vehicle due to the weight and visibility when lifting from the back. Also the tracks get dirt inside and it is unclear how to clean them out so they are not as smooth as they were to start.

by:

I liked the 2 bike version of inno's tire hold rack so much I got the 4 bike model. It's adjustable, sturdy and easy to use.

\/ when the rack is more expensive than one of your cars.

by:

Great product and extremely easy to put together. The instructions aren’t as clear but after watching one quick video it was the easiest thing ever. Very easy to you and very good looking coat protection.

by:

Does the job but is very heavy and bulky. Not easy to take on/off. Would be magical if came apart in 2 bike increments.wouldn’t recommend due to how bulky and big it is.

We do carry 4 bike racks that are detachable to allow you to carry two or four bikes. I recommend looking at part # TH9044-TH9046
Thule T2 Classic Bike Rack for 4 Bikes - 2" Hitches - Wheel Mount

One year into owning this 4-bike rack and it hasn't let me down once. Great flexibility for almost any type of bike, from 20" kids bikes with rack and fenders to a 29er dual suspension or fat bike. The four bike rack is extremely heavy and I can barely carry it and install myself, but I won't complain as it's built so well and I appreciate the toughness.

by:

Very stable and easy to access.

by:

I bought this rack 1 year ago and it has been the best rack I have ever owned. The simplicity of the rack is what I like the most about it. Loading the bikes is so simple my kids (11yr and 13yrs old)are able to lock there bikes into place. My family are all MTBer’s and with this rack we can bring our 4 bikes wherever we want to ride. Anyone who sees this rack always compliments about how it’s looks so heavy duty. I would highly recommend this 4 bike rack.

by:

I had a Kuat Sherpa 2.0 that I sold because we needed the additional bike carrying capacity as our whole family are cycling now. I opted for this Inno rack because I already have their ski/snowboard rack and to save some money as the Kuat NV 2.0 4-bike rack is priced so much higher and estimated delivery times pushed until early Spring/2021.
Well, take it from me. Spend the extra money and avoid this rack at all cost. Assembly was easy, quick and packaging was top notch. Unfortunately, that’s where all the positive feedback ends for this product. This is not a stable rack even WITHOUT any bikes loaded onto it. With the threaded hitch bolt installed and the so-called anti-rattle adjusted at its tightest, I was still able to swing the rack from side to side as the shaft of this rack would just move easily inside the hitch. It also has play at the main pivot joint pushing the rack front to back and vice versa when in the upright position.
Unfortunately, I wish I didn’t have to eat up the return shipping charges and hope etrailer.com does a better review for this product. At the end of the day, I don’t want to risk a bike or bikes possibly falling off this rack during transport. This has turned into a more costly expense and regret not spending more the first time for either a Kuat or Thule 4-bike carrier.

by:

Very easy to mount and unmount bikes. Very easy to lower to get to the trunk. All our friends and family ask where we got it from. However, they do not end up purchasing it due to the price. It is worth it since we bike all the time.

by:

It’s good one

Love using it- easy to load and manage! Would highly recommend. AMAZING customer service as well- kept me updated every step of the way (even with crazy covid delays outside of their control)-- approachable and make me feel valued as a customer!

Review from a similar Tire Hold Hitch Bike Rack in Hitch Bike Racks

I purchased this bike rack for my 2018 Honda Odyssey. I am very satisfied with the bike rack and purchase experience from etrailer. I received prompt responses for my queries which helped me decide between Inno vs Thule. Inno bike racks is very well build, easy to assemble and holds your bikes firmly by tyre with out any damages to your bike body. I use the bike rack to carry a Trek Dual Sport - Large and Trek Verve -XL. I strongly recommend this Inno for bike rack and Etrailer your purchase.

Review from a similar Tire Hold Hitch Bike Rack in Hitch Bike Racks

This was the best purchase! I absolutely love how snug it holds the bike and how easy it is to put in and take out of the hitch. The only hiccup is when I put it on my mother's newer vehicle that has the sensors on the rear bumper. She had to disable the back-up sensors while she had the rack in the "folded up" position. Literally no big deal! I'd 10/10 recommend this bike rack and 100/100 would recommend this company. They are real people at the other end of the line and the shipment is FAST and RELIABLE.

Review from a similar Tire Hold Hitch Bike Rack in Hitch Bike Racks

Exactly what I needed! Aside from the lack of locking abilities via a hitch pin (which I was well aware of) this thing fits the bill. Solid and sturdy! I’m not sure I would leave the carrier or bike on for prolonged periods or in sketchy areas due to the provided locking mechanisms but it does just what it should!

Review from a similar Tire Hold Hitch Bike Rack in Hitch Bike Racks

Easy to assemble. Just need to find yourself a [online] video as I didn’t find any assembly instructions. This is my first platform hitch rack. I initially wanted the Thule Helium but based on measurements from the hitch hole on my 2022 Subaru Legacy, the Helium would not be able to be folded up. I was able to easily place 2 bikes on the rack. I would say based on feel that it’s strong and sturdy and looks nice on the rear of my car. I look forward to using this rack in the future.

Review from a similar Tire Hold Hitch Bike Rack in Hitch Bike Racks

Easy to assemble, three parts, six bolts allen wrenches included. Four different tilt settings, can tilt down even with bike secured to open rear cargo hatch on an SUV. Tire hold only, no contact with frame especially important if you have expensive carbon fibre. Looks sleek folded up only 14 inches extended from bumper for parking in the garage. All that for a great price!

Comments
Outstanding, removing the hitch is a little tricky, gotta get flat on your back so I tend to leave it in when Im cycling a lot in the spring, summer and fall even tho that means you cannot use the foot motion sensor to open the rear hatch.

It was time for a rack upgrade and I have a buddy who’s had an Inno Rack for a while now, and I always liked the set up. Ordered mine via etrailer and it actually delviered sooner than I expected. I love it. I should’ve ordered one a long time ago.

Review from a similar Tire Hold Hitch Bike Rack in Hitch Bike Racks

Pros: Perfect for avoiding frame damage. It clamps the bike by the wheels, not the frame - no scratches! Plenty of room for chunky MTB tires (mine are 29x2.6).

Cons: Hitch lock pin doesn't work/falls out. I added a few quick chain links to be safe.

  • Recommended 4 Bike Carrier for 1 E-bike and Wide Variety of Frame Styles
If your e-bike weighs less than 60-lbs (you can likely remove the battery to accomplish this) the Inno Tire Hold # INH142 is a great choice that will secure the bikes by the tires and not risk damaging the frames of the bikes. This is perfect if you've got any carbon frame bikes, as well as women's and kids bikes that can be difficult to secure by the frames and would normally require a frame adapter. I also really like this rack because it comes with locks for the bikes and rack to keep...

The Inno Tire Hold 4 Bike Platform Rack # INH142 that you referenced does weigh 118 lbs. I confirmed this with Inno. When loaded the rack does angle up slightly to help with ground clearance. See attached picture. I also attached a review video for this rack for more info as well.

Anytime you use a hitch adapter with a hitch bike rack you reduce the maximum tongue weight of your hitch receiver by 50%. Now that will not be a problem with most 2" hitch receivers but it can come into play with your 1 1/4" hitch receiver. For example, if the maximum tongue weight is 200lbs adding the hitch adapter will reduce your maximum tongue weight to 100lbs. I recommend checking the maximum tongue weights on your hitch receivers. The Inno Tire Hold 4 Bike Platform Rack part # INH142 comes with locks for both the hitch and bikes. The hand knob on the front of the rack which is used to tighten and loosen it has a lock core built in that won't let you loosen it, which is required to remove the rack, without the key. There isn't any sort of standard hitch pin lock for this rack but many bike rack manufacturers use this style lock and it works just fine.

Yes, as long as you have a 2 inch hitch receiver on your 2014 Acura MDX, the Inno Tire Hold 4 Bike Platform Rack # INH142 will work perfectly. The great thing about the Tire Hold is that it holds bikes by the wheels to avoid any frame contact. This rack also tilts away from the vehicle so you can access your trunk even with the bikes loaded, and it includes locks to secure your investment.
