Dual Folding Arms with Anti-Sway Cradles

TX-104 dual arms

The Kuat Beta has dual arms that provide excellent support for your bikes. They slope up to provide ground clearance for steep driveways and bumpy roads.

Kuat tilting arms

To fold the arms down, remove the tethered bail pin at the top of the mast. This leaves a smaller footprint, so you can keep the rack on your vehicle to park in your garage. And when stored in this configuration, it doesn't take up as much space in your garage.

Kuat folding shank

The shank also folds up, so it takes less space to store the Beta than it does to store a rack that only has folding arms.

Durable dual-strap cradles provide extra support for bike frames (shown on the Pearl model)

Anti-sway cradles with rubber straps hold your bikes firmly in place. Each set of cradles has two straps that secure your bike along the top tube and one that secures the seat post or downtube. This multi-point contact helps keep your bikes from rocking back and forth, reducing bike-to-bike contact. The soft rubber cradles rotate around the rack's arms to accommodate bikes of different styles and shapes.

Easy Tilting for Cargo Area Access

TX-104 arms out

The rack tilts down without your bikes loaded. This means you won't have to remove the whole rack to access your cargo area for grocery runs and other errands.

Kuat base

To tilt the rack, remove the tethered bail pin in the upper hole on the base of the mast and insert it in the lower hole. The pin serves as a stopper to support the mast when lowered. When you're ready to go, remove the pin, raise the mast, and reinsert the pin in the upper hole.

Anti-Wobble Hand Knobs

hand knobsTX-104 dual arms

Hands knobs tighten the joints where the arms fold and where the mast tilts. This adds stability and reduces vibration during transport. Loosen the knobs when you're ready to fold the arms down or tilt the rack away from your vehicle, tighten them when you're ready to load your bikes.

1-Person, Tool-Free Installation

hand knob

The Beta is made of lightweight aluminum that weighs less than 14 lbs, making it one of the lightest racks on the market and one of the easiest to install. All you have to do is slide the shank into your hitch and turn the knob until snug. Turning the knob deploys an anti-rattle wedge in the shank to help take play out of the hitch connection.

pin and clip

Once the knob is snug, insert the pin and clip to secure the rack in your hitch.

Available Security and Adapter Bar

locklock

A hitch lock and cable lock (sold separately) are available to help deter theft of your bikes and the rack.

adapter bar

If you have a women's bike, kid's bike, or any other bike without a straight, horizontal top tube, you will need an adapter bar (sold separately) to properly mount your bike. The bar fits between the seat post and handlebar stem post of your bike to create a top tube so your bike hangs level on the rack.

  • How to Carry Bikes on a 2018 Volkswagen Golf Alltrack with a Sunroof
Using the JetStream Crossbars # Y00425 along with the TimberLine Towers # Y33TR will be taller than using the Yakima RailBar Crossbars # Y00432-0433 for your 2018 Volkswagen Golf Alltrack but you do need to note that every roof rack manufacturer states that a sun or moon roof should not be used with a roof rack installed. Roof racks do have some wind noise which the aero style bars, although cause less noise, are not immune from. There is also the issue of clearance as well as possible...

  • What 2 Bike Hanging Hitch Racks Will Hold Two 38 Pound Bikes on a 2009 Toyota Higlander
The Thule Helium # TH9042PRO has a maximum bike weight of 35 pounds. I would not recommend using two 38 pound bikes with this rack. It would void the warranty on the rack and you could risk losing the bikes. If you write back with the size and class rating of the hitch on your Highlander, I will check to see if we have any bike racks available that will hold the weight of your bikes.

  • How to Lock Bikes to Kuat Beta Bike Rack B202-2
To lock your bikes to your vehicle when using the Kuat Beta part # B202-2 that you referenced you'd want to use a cable lock like the etrailer Cable Lock # e98891. You'd want to route the cable through the bike frames and then back to through the safety chain loop of the trailer hitch.

  • Does Kuat Beta Hitch Bike Rack Fit Both 2 inch and 1-1/4 inch Hitches
Hey Jacob, the Kuat Beta bike rack part # B202-2 is designed for only fitting 2 inch hitches and does not come with an adapter to also fit a 1-1/4 inch hitch. The version of this rack that fits the 1-1/4 inch hitch is the part # B202-114. For a similar lightweight rack that fits both hitch sizes we have the Saris Bones part # SA882 though if that was something you were looking for.

  • Hitch Locks That Fit Kuat Beta Bike Racks
Kuat offers two different hitch locks, the # HL1 for the # B202-114 Beta that's designed for the 1-1/4 inch receiver and the # HL2 lock that's designed for the # B202-2 Beta rack that's designed for the 2 inch receiver. So it depends on which Beta version you have.

  • 2011 Acura RDX Bike Rack Recommendation
The trunk mount options for your 2011 Acura RDX are pretty unique and expensive (they are all SeaSucker brand which is a high-end bike rack) so instead I actually recommend installing a trailer hitch and getting a hitch mount bike rack. For the trailer hitch I really like the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13154 because of the hidden crosstube, and then for a bike rack I recommend the Kuat Beta # B202-2 which is a simple bike rack but still one of my favorites. The rack is intuitive to...

  • Trailer Hitch Mount Bike Rack Recommendation for a 2012 Mazda 5 and Class I Trailer Hitch
The Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 24874 is a Class I trailer hitch with a 1-1/4 inch receiver. Because it is a Class I hitch, you are limited to certain bike racks and a maximum of 2 bikes because a Class I trailer hitch cannot support the added stress of additional bikes. With that said there are still a number of bike rack options that are compatible. I have included a link to all of the Class I compatible bike racks for you to view. Please note that some can hold more than 2 bikes but on...

  • Clearance Differences for 2-Inch and 1-1/4 Inch Versions of Kuat Beta 2 Rack on 2013 Subaru Forester
You are correct that there are different hitch-pin-hole-to-upright clearance distances between the two versions of the Kuat Beta 2 bike carrier. The measurement that is the most meaningful to ensuring a proper fit is the distance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the nearest part of the carrier. In the cases of the Kuat Beta 2, part # B202-2, and # B202-114, this clearance distance varies depending on whether the carrier cradle arms are in the up position (as when carrying bikes)...

The Kuat Beta # B202-2 is rated for 40 pounds per bike. Provided that both bikes are at or below 40 pounds you could use this bike rack. If your electric bike weighs over 40 pounds then there are other options that will work. The Saris Freedom # SA4412B has a capacity of 60 pounds per bike. • Bike Rack Comparable to the Thule Camber 2 Bike Rack That Fits 2 inch Hitch Without Adapter
The difference between the (discontinued) Thule Parkway 958 and the Thule Camber # TH9058 is that the Camber has folding arms, and the anti-sway cradles and the Parkway does not. The anti-sway cradles help to keep your bikes from making contact with each other as you travel. The Kuat Beta # B202-2 that you referenced would work great in the 2 inch hitch of your 2014 Subaru Forester. The newer Subaru 1-1/4 inch hitches do have issues fitting hitch bike racks and require the use of Yakima bike racks, but the 2 inch hitches like what you have would work just fine.
