Rotating Arm with Ratcheting Hook

Kuat Transfer V2 ratcheting hook

The Transfer V2 has a ratcheting hook that grabs your bike firmly by the front wheel - not the frame. It's perfect for carrying a carbon bike or bike with a custom paint job. To load your bike, simply place the front wheel in the cradle, rotate the arm up and over the wheel, and press down firmly on the ratcheting hook.

Front-Wheel Cradle with Adjustable Pitch

Kuat Transfer V2 front wheel cradle

In its upright position the front cradle sits at the optimal position for holding a normal-size bike. However, you can adjust the cradle so that a smaller bike sits more toward the center of the rack. To adjust the pitch, use the included Allen key to flip the bolt locator tab upside down.

Pivoting Rear-Wheel Cradle

Kuat Transfer V2 rear wheel cradle

The rear wheel cradle accommodates a wide variety of bike wheelbases. It pivots front to back, adjusting automatically to your bike's wheelbase - no need for sliding and tightening. Secure the wheel in place with the built-in ratcheting strap. A strap extender (sold separately) lets you carry a fat bike.

U-Shape Frame

Kuat Transfer V2 U-shape base

Most platform-style racks force you to reach out and over the rack to load your bikes. The U-shaped frame allows you to get closer to your bike to lift it. Also, it won't block your backup camera when it's folded up.

Foot Lever for Easy Tilting and Folding

Kuat Transfer V2 foot lever

The spring-loaded foot lever is easily accessible even with your bike loaded. No more crawling through your bike or squeezing between the rack and the vehicle to hit the tilt release lever.

Kuat Transfer V2 tilting rackKuat Transfer V2 folding rack

The foot lever lets you tilt the rack down with your bike loaded for cargo area access. It leaves both hands free so that you can lower the rack in a controlled manner. When the rack is unloaded you can fold it up for storage.

Easy Installation

Kuat Transfer V2 complete security

The rack is easy to install. Just slide the shank into your hitch and use the included 8-mm Allen wrench to tighten the ball cam. An anti-rattle wedge is deployed inside the shank to help take play out of the hitch connection.

Kuat Transfer V2 adapter sleeve

The rack has a removable aluminum sleeve that lets you convert it for use in 1-1/4" hitches.

Complete Security for Bike and Rack

Kuat Transfer V2 indentation

The Allen wrench has an indentation, so it can only be used with the Transfer. This helps keep the rack secure on your vehicle. You'll need to store it in a safe place because you'll need it when you want to remove the rack. You can also use a locking hitch pin (sold separately) for extra rack security.

Kuat Transfer V2 integrated cable lock

The Transfer also includes a cable lock that secures your bike to the rack. The 1/4" thick, braided steel cable threads through your bike's frame, and locks back into the rack.

This is a solid product. Easy to assemble and simple to operate. A couple of issues make it less than ideal.
First, because it is built to fit 1 1/4 and 2" hitches, the hitch pin holes do not line up correctly in a standard 2" trailer hitch. This means that you cannot use a 5/8" hitch pin. You can use the smaller pin, but you get the kind of fit you would expect -- it's loose and it rattles. If the cam system fails, the smaller hitch pin isn't going to help much. This is a huge design flaw in my opinion. Note that if you order the hitch pin lock that they say you need for this particular rack (HL2), it comes with a 5/8" pin that won't fit. Just dumb.
My rack didn't come with the cable, so I contacted etrailer and after alot of back and forth, they said they would reach out to Kuat. That was a month ago.
There is not a cap to snap over the cable lock, so when the rack is folded in the upright position, water leaks into the hollow bar behind the lock. It will sit in there forever unless you pull the rack and turn it upside down. I put a piece of duct tape over it -- the lock is no use to me since etrailer and Kuat can't seem to provide me with the missing cable.

Recall on this product for a defective foot lever. The hits just keep coming.

My husband and I are in our 60's and had no problem putting this together as per instructions. It's a good solid rack, no wobble even with my big 35 pound 29'er. It easily clears our steep curb on the back of our Subaru Outback. The hatch clears the bike and there's plenty of room to move between the car and bike in that tilt position. We loaded our car for vacation with the bike on the rack. It's a bonus to be able to leave it all on the car in our garage. We also bought the Drawtite 2" hitch from etrailer.com. We're very happy with this setup!

This rack is durable. It carries my bike securely and damage-free on or off road. We leave it on the hitch most of the time but its easy to take off when we want to. We use a locking hitch pin for added security.

by:

Just recieved a recall notice denoting possible rack locking device unexpected releasing plus I have and ebike ($2000) 4" tires strap provided with unit too short to secure tire (using self designed
Straps).

by:

The rack is great for a senior single. Lightweight to install into hitch and seems pretty sturdy.

However the directions for assembly need help.
1.The Tire Hook Arm Assy and Arm Kunckle and Arm Installation: The pictures show assembling the Hook Arm and Arm Knuckle in one way. And Installing the Arm show the cutout of the Arm Knuckle for the screw another way. I think the 2 diagrams don't agree with each other as far as which side of the rack the arm is installed on.
It added more time for assembly.

2. In the Hitch Shank Assembly, the holes for slipping in the bolt were not lined up - at all.
Tried to wiggle, somewhat force it - no success.
I finally figured out that the plastic wrap that was put into place to hold the Foot Pivot lever at a certain tension - wasn't really holding it at all. Once I pressed on the Foot Pivot tension lever, the holes could be aligned for an easy insertion of the bolt.

I hope this helps

No issues with my bike rack. It is very easy to use and I feel very confident when I am transporting my bike!

by:

Yes, you have to go online for assembly instructions, since they are not included in the box. Not that bad, just harder to scoll thru my phone PDF screen. Very well made unit. Easy 1.25 to 2 inch hitch adjustment. Nice easy folding mechanism.

by:

Super fast free shipping, I received the rack the very next day. The quality of the Kuat rack seems excellent so far. The tilting feature does allow me to lower the tailgate of the pickup with the bike on the rack which is a nice feature since I have a camper top installed on the truck

I have been very pleased with the bike rack, no issues whatsoever. I particularly like that I can open the tailgate of the truck with a bike loaded on the rack and the rack tilted down.

E-Trailer great customer service and pleasure to work with. They need to get a new carrier as UPS sucks and just lies.

by:

Alex actually listened to needs/wants, made recommendation that ticked all the boxes and found a discount on express shipping. Additionally, she drop shipped to UPS Store on my route as traveling 1,000 miles from home.

by:

It's great after a year.
I am sad to
say i had to buy a second unit shortly after installing the first. Still unused to the extra duties behind the car, it became warped when it became lodged and distorted. I was unaware of I could return this unit, so I bought a replacement. It arrived quickly and am happy with it. Also very careful with putting all its components away before driving.

by:

As you may know, the rack had some problems, with a part being recalled. Küat sent a replacement at no cost to purchaser. However, the cradles that hold bike tend to slip, even when tightened. I've overcome this by attaching velcro straps to bike and rack.

Hey Valerie! I did double check with Kuat and it looks like there was a recall on the pivot pedal. Kuat is really awesome and always making sure people are able to get back to the fun stuff!

This is not a review kinda. I have a 2024 dodge hornet, and put on hitch first, then I got bike hitch next. The only thing I didn't like was the 1 1/4 inch setup. I have a 2" receiver and didn't like the way it fit, wish they had 2" model. This Wednesday didn't have bike rack on car, and got hit in the back of car the hitch saved me from about $700 more damage to the rearend. It moved the hitch down about 1" it just moved where bolts were, no bends in hitch. The rest of car had about $700 dollars to plastic rearend. Good solid hitch. Thanks for that

Donald, I am so glad you're okay! The Kuat Transfer V2 rack does have an adapter that should be used with a 2 inch hitch like what you have. I just wanted to make sure that you are using the adapter. I'm glad that the hitch receiver took the brunt of the impact for you. Please keep in mind that once a hitch receiver has been through a collision, it should be thoroughly checked by a mechanic for any damages. You will want to replace the hardware as well with item # RHK for your hitch part # DT42PR.

by:

It was easy to put together. It is light enough for me to to put on my car.
If one more feature could be added…… a way to “drop” the rack down for loading. I have a hybrid e-bike and it is a little heavy to lift onto the rack.

It works fine. I would like it better if there was a ramp I could add to it for easier loading.

Hm, I think we have a method that could help with the weight. If you first adjust the front arm with the hook as low as it will go. Then, wheel the bike up next to the bike rack, so that the front wheel is sitting just forward of the front wheel cradle. Then, apply the rear brake while holding onto the handlebars with your right hip up against the bike. Walk rearward while hanging onto the bars and the front wheel will come up, swing the bike slightly to the right so the front wheel comes down in the cradle and move the front arm and hook over the front tire, snugly enough so the bike won't fall over. Then lift the rear wheel up into the rear cradle and secure. Tighten the front hook, and you're done. To remove the bike, reverse the process. If you do this method, then you should only be lifting about half the weight of the bike when loading. Try it out and let us know if it helped.

by:

Great rack. A bit heavy for a one bike rack, but very sturdy. Had to download the instructions as they are not included.

by:

This is a well engineered product. It was easy to assemble and install. It perfectly did the job of transporting my bike on a 600 hundred mile round trip vacation.

by:

Great little rack! My wife uses it to carry my son's bike to school and drop it off with him. I like that it is smaller and lighter than other racks, with sturdy construction and ability to install the add-on when two of us want to ride. Affordability is also good!

by:

I have to question some of the overly positive reviews. Maybe this is their first rack so they had nothing to compare. This is my second Kuat rack. My decision to stay with Kuat was based on the quality of my dual-bike Sherpa rack. Unfortunately, this single rack is not of the same quality. Assembly required more effort. Specifically, attaching the Arm Puck and End Caps. The Hook Arm Assembly/Tire Hook that secures the bike is the weak link, it has a cheap plastic feel. If transporting a heavy Ebike you may want to add additional protection. I would have returned the rack but it would be a pain to disassemble and I would have to foot the cost. The Kuat name, in my opinion, is no longer synonymous with quality.

by:

Exactly what I needed a+

by:

The product is very good but getting it together was not as easy as expected.

by:

Absolutely perfect for a single bike and incredibly easy to put on and take off. Takes a total between 30-60 seconds to remove and attach. Couldn’t be better.

by:

This rack is exactly what I was looking for for my 45lb E-bike. I worked with Chris from etrailer and he came through with flying colors with information, manuals, and even a fair price match for the part. The Kuat racks are best known for durability and great customer service with a Lifetime warranty. It solved the problem of being able to confidently have a heavier bike on the rack which has an impressive 60lb rating. This rack was changed from last years model of 45lb limit. That sealed the deal knowing that this rack will carry a very expensive E-bike without worries of it coming off on the road. Great peace of mind! Cheers to etrailer and their team!

Great Rack! Delivered as promised

by:

Instructions were ez to follow and looks great on the back of my 2018 Toyota 4Runner!!!!!

by:

I haven't driven around with it yet, but it was pretty easy to assemble for this older woman. Not too heavy at all and seems very sturdy and great quality. I love that you don't have to lift the bike too high to get it on the rack, that makes all the difference for me. I am pushing 70 and lifting a bike high up was out of the question.

by:

Excellent bike rack. Took me about 45 minutes to put it together and onto the tow receiver. I've been able to use it once since I installed it a couple weeks ago, and it held my bike securely with no issue. The arm locks down tight on the front tire and the rear strap keeps the back tire secure to the rack. I keep the rack mounted on my car all the time just so that I'm not having to install/uninstall every few days when I take my bike to the riding spots.

by:

I ordered the Kuat Transfer V2 bike rack for 1 bike to install on my 2014 Jeep Compass and couldn’t be happier. I only transport one bike and I wanted a bike rack that would let me use my tail gate when it was in the up position without having to lower it. This rack fit the bill. It is easy to load my bicycle and it securely holds the bicycle in place.

I would have given this a five star rating, but the 1 bike rack comes with a combo 1 ¼ - 2 inch shank and the 5/8 inch lock pin hole does not line up with the hole in the receiver. The rack comes with a smaller diameter pin and to go through the hole. I had to order the 2 inch only shank that comes with the 2 bike carrier to get what I wanted. Now I can use a locking 5/8 inch hitch pin. I wish there was an option provide to by the 2 inch only shank when ordering the carrier for 1 bike.

  • Comparison of the Kuat Transfer V2 Bike Rack for 1 Bike VS. Inno Tire Hold Bike Rack for 1 Bike
When choosing between the Kuat Transfer V2 # KU64FR and the Inno Tire Hold # INH110, there are a few differences to consider. While both racks have a weight capacity of 60 pounds, the Transfer V2 has a slightly larger bike compatibility range than the Tire Hold. Another difference is the weight of the...

It's a big hit with our other customers who have tried it as well, so I know you'll really like it. I attached a review video...

This is a platform bike rack that only touches the bike at the tires and only weighs 26 lbs. The...
